Ocean City's Whale Of A Mystery

Well never know if it was the oil spill, an illness or something else that killed that humpback.

The Maryland Department of Natural Resources said it has finished examining the whale carcass that washed ashore in Ocean City last week. But because it was so badly decomposed, officials could not determine how or why the animal died. What experts DO know is that it was juvenile, female and 25-feet long. The carcass was found July 8 near Sixth Street. Folks along the boardwalk said they could smell the stench.

I would truly think that a whale that was that badly decomposed would have been dead for much longer than the oil spill has been happening. I'm sure it takes a long while for the tissue to decompose as badly as it was. But then again, I am no scientist.

further more to 8:56 if a medical examiner can determine a cause of death for a human regardless of the body condition 95% of the time then why can't DNR determine the cause for a whale..hhmmmm
