Bachmann Forms Tea Party Caucus

Republicans have been wrangling for more than a year over how exactly to handle the tea party movement, but now Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-Minn.) is bringing them under the big tent.

The House Administration committee, which usually takes days to approve something of this nature, approved Bachmann's request to create a House Tea Party Caucus in a day. It will certainly give the national movement a more official voice within the House Republican Conference.

Bachmann, already a hero within the tea party, sent a letter to House Administration Chairman Robert Brady (D-Pa.) Thursday to register the House Tea Party Caucus to serve as an “informal group of members dedicated to promote Americans’ call for fiscal responsibility, adherence to the Constitution and limited government.”

Bachmann, in a statement, said Americans have “had enough of the spending, bureaucracy and the government-knows-best mentality running rampant today throughout the halls of Congress.”

Can we now officially recognize the Tea party as the ultra conservative wing of the republican party that it has always been?

The disappointment is astounding to me. The Tea Party has now officially been hi-jacked by the Republicans. Call it what you want - giving it a voice or whatever - if we let this happen than we (the Tea Party) are nothing more than a shill. The Repubican Party will now capitalize on all of our momentum. What a sorry day.

Why don't we recognize it as the conscience wing of the American people . 9:49 The TEA party as you should know was formed by patriots who believe they're are being over taxed . You have to ask yourself whether the money you earn should be spent by you or the government .

I aggre with 10:26, however, at this point in the game we must do whatever we have to to stop the present powers that be. The Tea Party and the Republicans must stand together at least until after November. After that there will be time to sort things out and maybe get some real change (for the better) in 2012. I do believe Michelle Bachman is one of us even though she is part of the establishment. She and few others still love America and want to save her.

There is a group of true conservatives within the 'establishment' Republicans-- the Republican Study Group (RSC), of which Michele Bachmann is a member, along with Mike Pence and others.
They've held their ground and walked the talk.
They are in position to make a big difference after this next election.
Mike Pence is already in a leadership position, and would make a great President.
He would also make an excellent Speaker of the House-- MUCH better than the power-hungry John Boehner.

Let the pendulum swing right left, right left, right left, and let them eat cake.

11:11am, why are the Tea Partiers supposed to be "patriots"? What does that make everyone else? Isn't it quite unamerican to label someone as being disloyal to the country just because they disagree with you politically? Way to stick to the principles of freedom and free speech there buddy.

If Bachmann is your standard bearer than you guys best be prepared to "lose" another national election. Not that I believe in losers; we all win everytime we have a free and fair election. And not that I'm a big Dem supporter, but Bachmann is apart of the righty loony Limbaugh fringe just like Pelosi et al. are apart of the lefty loony fringe.
