Wonder how many kids are really supposed to go there, runnin from salisbury schools. Dont blame the parents one bit.

I don't think 5th graders belong in middle school.

BUT! I think that is far better than putting them in East Salisbury!

Besides the busing, they will be safer in Delmar and better educated!

I love Delmar, I hope I die here.

You got people that cant afford private school but still care about there kids education and safety, thats what you got here.

yeah they might walk off the property!!!

they are way to young to be around middle school kids, these kids are grewing up way to fast anyway.

This is a great move. If it didn't happen, Delmar Middle/HS would lose staff. Where are all the Delmar haters now?

Wow, this keeps up and all of Delmar will be going on the Delaware side, and Wicomico BOE can suck it. The Delmar Delaware school district is the best on the eastern shore hands down.

It's not busing the kids to East Salisbury that is a problem per say, but busing the kids at all. Delmar is a unique culture and we have a real community here. Our schools are community schools. To take our children and bus them to Salisbury is unacceptable.

While having 5th grade in a middle school setting is far from ideal, it is still better to keep the kids in an award winning, hometown school system than to bus them to Salisbury.

This is not meant as a knock on Salisbury or any school, but a nod to the staff at Delmar and the town as a whole.

I went to the meeting, and I have a child that will be in 5th grade next year, and I was afraid for him to be in the mix of everything with the older kids. Before the meeting I was pretty sure I did not want him to go next year to the middle school. But the meeting did change my mind. Delmar District is a great school with a caring board and teachers. I like that they wear uniforms. And I do not think that busing our children to other area schools is a good idea. I want my children to go to delmar where they belong and live. we have a great community!

Tina, GREAT comment and thanks for not only sharing your name but also for letting others know how open you are to something new. Delmar is a great town with so much to offer, Wicomico County can only dream of having it so good.

As I have always said and went on the record at a Delmar Council Meeting, learn from Salisbury's mistakes. The future is in Delmar, Delaware and every one knows it.

GOOD IDEA. THE AGE DOESNT MATTER. THEY WILL BE WITH THOSE SAME 8TH GRADERS WHEN THEY GET TO HIGHSCHOOL ANYWAY. WHY WASTE THE MONEY BUSSING THEM. PLUS SALISBURY SCHOOLS ARE ALL READY TO CROWDED.

oh come on people, there are serious racial issues with this decision and you know it!

What's wrong with East SBY School?? My God, have you ever been there? Have you experienced the clientele? I blame the students' parents, and their parents before them, and so on... No respect for adults or for themselves. Definitely don't want my kids there.

The kids in Delmar are a little slower than in Salisbury so I thinks it's a good move for their self esteem !

Delmar is the best!!!! We have such community support for our kids. Where else can you go around here and see adults in their 60's, 70's, and 80's watching a childs sports event when they dont know anyone playing?? Since the real issue here is education of our kids, Delmar has a school system that is second to NONE in the area! Eat your heart out Salisbury...... Delmar has the best educators around. And I am proud to say (like many other parents here), not only did I graduate from Delmar, but my child also is in Delmar school! WAY TO GO DELMAR!!! What a wise choice to keep our kids here!

That's crazy. Kids that young have no business attending the same school as 18 year olds. Heck, I don't think 6th, 7th, and 8th graders should be there either. There should be a separate middle school.
