Slot Machines for Nonprofit Organizations, today, to the MD Senate Budget & Taxation Committee.
House Bill 56 has been passed favorably by the House of Delegates each year since 2008.
This bill, granting Worcester County the equal opportunity to allow its’ service club organizations, the privilege, the other eight Eastern Shore service clubs enjoy, enabling up to five slot machines in the service clubs primary meeting places failed 2008 and 2009, in the MD Senate Chamber. Delegate Norm Conway gave a summary of the bill’s elements and Delegate Jim Mathias stated he was hopeful this “third time in the charm”.
Joining the Delegates was Sarge Garlitz, Adjutant of The American Synepuxent Legion Post 166, and representing the Ocean City Elks Lodge #2645, Thomas T. P. Simons, Exalted Ruler, Jim Flaig, Treasurer and Niles Edwards, Past Exalted Ruler of Elks.

Miller has traditionally been the obstacle with this. The reality as far as Ocean City is concerned is a total of 10 slots in 2 clubs. Maybe Miller is afraid this is too much competition to Ocean Down's Casino. The Elks and Legion both put money back into the community and to the needy. The Salisbury Elks has had their allotment of 5 machines for years.
I don't gamble at all but I do belong to both these organizations. Good dedicated people at both.
Miller is a suck egg mule. I never trust someone who can't make up their mind what their name is. I mean, come on... Thomas V. Mike Miller. Is it Tom? Is it Mike? and WTF with the "v"? No one has had the hair to ask him that I guess. He is nothing more than a curly haired celebrety who is in love with himself - LOL
The issue is not how many slots will be in Worchester County.
The real sticking point is that all of the organizations which would qualify for slots through out Maryland want to be added to the bill.
That is why Mike Miller will not let this bill see the light of day.
Conway and Mathesas are keenly aware of Miller's position so they submit the bill each year so they can tell the voters they have done all they could.
Miller does not care because no body in Worchester can vote for or against him.

This is a crock. It is no different that what Wicomico County already has. Do you see slots pouring onto the sidewalks there?
Try going to Chesapeake Beach in Calvert County (Miller's backyard). It looks like Las Vegas with all the slots (opps...they call them "bingo" there).
