DAILY TIMES SAYS SALISBURY SHOULD BLOW HALF A MILLION BUCKS!

In an absurd editorial today, the newspaper suggests that the temporary “fix” proposed by Jim Ireton for the Bateman Street/Onley Road and South Division Street should be done now, and then the real solution can be made after the school is opened later this year. Do those Gannett morons realize that would waste money, that the proposed design is nuts and that the City does not have the money to do the work now. See our post yesterday at http://sbynews.blogspot.com/2010/03/iretons-quick-fix-for-bateman-street-is.html.

And someone at the Board of Education should tell us why the site design for the new high school does not have the bus entrance on College Avenue and, since they decided to use South Division Street and Onley Road instead, why they don’t pay for the intersection work and stop whining. Maybe they think that because Ireton works for them he will do them a favor.

This type of reporting is exactly why I come to this site instead of The Daily Times.

The Daily Times is so biased that they have lost their 'foundation'.

Keep-up the good work Joe because The Daily Times has lost their credibility among our citizenry.

Those Gannett morons don't care Joe, they are just like Barrie Tilghman, Gary Comegys and Shamie Shields - spend, spend, spend no thought about if there is money or not. What idiots we have in this town.

anonymous 9:13, I agree. Just look at the recent history of the Daily Tiumes, a newspaper people actually listen to.

The Daily Times OWNED their own building in Salisbury. They sold it because the newspaper industry was failing. They bought a USED press and relocated to a building they are currently RENTING.

Once they moved in they started laying off people, they used to have 200 on their Staff. They are now 80% smaller than they used to be, they make their retail customers insert the Sunday sale ads and we rarely see them out and about any more covering stories.

Now it's been reported that Gannett is actually considering shutting down the press here in Salisbury and printing the Paper out of Wilmington, DE.

If YOU cajn't see the writing on the wall for the Daily Times, well, I don't know what to tell you Folks.

However, trust a company's word when they can't even keep their own finances straight, I don't think so. Not me anyway!

Very top heavy at the main Board office, maybe if they did some cuts there they could afford to do repairs.

I think that the school bus department at the Board of Ed. now has 8 or so employees, so they could direct traffic at that intersection when the buses arrive and depart.

I'm one of the laid off employees, Anyone care to give me a job ?

This is what passes for planning by the combined city and county Commission and staff. Disgusting!

what a waste! reroute the traffic from the already existing entrances with their new lights, etc. reminds me of the wasted money fruitland spent on their useless traffic circle!!
