Nearby State Lacking Funds For Snow Removal

Scott Wykoff and Associated Press

Delaware officials say they don't have enough money budgeted to pay to clear away the foot and half of snow that fell over the weekend.

The state has $3.2 million in its snow removal account. But Delaware Department of Transportation Secretary Carolann Wicks says every 8 inches of snowfall costs between $3.5 million and $4 million to remove.

Because transportation crews still are removing snow, Wicks says the state does not know yet what the total cost will be for this storm.
