Interesting Message Referencing The SFD

Joe - I sent this in a text msg, but not sure if it went through. The Fire Department is at the old Fratelli's shopping center, loading plywood into Las Margarita - through the back door. They apparently have the area blocked with ambulances and fire trucks, so you can only see it from behind Cheers. Any idea what is going on?

UPDATE:

"The Salisbury Fire Department will conduct training for area firefighters at the Allenwood Shopping Center 8 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday-Sunday, November 21-22. The Allenwood building is slated to be demolished in coming weeks so construction may begin on a new 600-bed residence hall and retail complex.

The Fire Department's hands-on training will feature various scenarios including large area searches, forced entry, wall breaching, commercial structure operations, Rapid Intervention Team practice and the use of simulated smoke. “This is a tremendous benefit to the Salisbury Fire Department, and we thank Salisbury University for allowing us to use the building prior to it being razed,” said William Gordy, deputy fire chief.

The Allenwood parking lot will be closed."

This is a good idea, seeing how the fire dept. is always on campus anyway, at least now they can gawk at the co-eds while they are doing some useful training.

Training? I thought they were potty trained!Mmm , guess not!

I dont believe the fire fighters will be on campus gawking as you refer. Lets face it, we get a chance to some good training and you would rather bitch that we should be at the station doing nothing. On the othr hand we may be at the station and you bitch that we arent out doing something. Make up your minds and let us do our jobs.

It might as well said Wm. Gordy Fire Chief, since he runs the place. What do we need Hoppes for ? He wont be there training because he cant perform any of the drills without passing out. Heavy Duty Chief. I'm sure his butt kissing Ass Chiefs will be there.

2:13 I'm not a fire fighter basher like most and support what you guys do. I think its a great idea from the University to allow you to training in the soon to be demolished building. But... do not tell me fire fighters don't gawk at the girls. Maybe if they prefer men instead of girls. I used to live in UP and every once in a while you guys would drive through checking out the ladies. I remember when someone pulled the fire alarm. I never seen so many firetrucks before. Hell, I can't blame you. The thought of coeds running out of a burning building in their pj's. What else could a fire fighter ask for. Oh, and why is my word verification suckbutt?

You know what? I don't know who I dislike the most Gordo, Hopeless or Liarton??

Central just finished their 6:30 PM announcements. Does anyone know why Station 2's brand new ladder truck is out of service?

I wasnt trying to imply they dont gawk at girls. The shopping center that the training is in has very little foot traffic from the college. It is also not in direct view of the dorms so the ladies in nighties wont happen either. It would have been nice if the department could have gotten into the old Dresser Wayne building before it was tore down.

Right side passenger compartment door was almost ripped off when a NON-DRIVER was backing the unit into the firehouse without the required spotters. The door was left open, alarms were going off, and the video display showed him a picture of the door being open; yet he still backed it into the side of the building.

What will be done? Nothing. He was a volunteer.

Hoppes is afraid to cause any ripples in the water before the chief's selection is made. Had it been a paid man; Gordy would have had them suspended.

probably true. the volunteers can get away with anything they please and nothing is ever done. just as we found out at the weekly thursday meeting with hoppes. he stated that in the financial situation that we're in right now, that he is willing to pretty much sacrafice the salaries and well being of his employees to let the volunteers take whatever piece of equiptment they want on any call. calls that would normally be just a one engine response for the paid crews. running up a hell of a gas bill, which apparently gordy quoted would be approx 20,000 dollars extra. now maybe its just me, but i think anyone with half a brain cell could figure out that if youre in a financial pinch like this city/country is in right now, that an extra 20,000 dollar in gas could be cut off real quick. oh along with all of the chief's precious take home cars.

I haven’t heard one fireman say Hoppes is their pick for fire chief. Are any of them willing to support the man for chief?

The Career Local comes out and supports A canidate during the elections. Lets see them man up and support one for Chief

Hmmm.... sounds like you all are not happy with the NEW SFD. You all were warned about Bresners plan for the fire department. Yes even Gordy was shown as what he is now. I think with Comegys on the council a, mayor that obviously has no clue and the current administration . The SFD is a joke and will continue to be. Sad there was alot of good people that were drove away from the department.Oh well let just sit back and watch the circus.
