Planning director found dead
Willing, also Somerset school board chairman, was under investigation

PRINCESS ANNE -- Jack Willing Jr., chairman of the Somerset County Board of Education and the county's planning director, was found dead Wednesday night of a self-inflicted gunshot wound, according to Maryland State Police.
Willing, 41, was found in his pickup truck in the parking lot of a former general store on Deal Island, according to Lt. Krah Plunkert, commander of the Princess Anne barrack.
Earlier in the day, searches of Willing's office in Princess Anne and his home in Chance were conducted by the U.S. Postal Inspection Service and the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement -- agencies that conduct probes into child pornography and Internet crimes, according to the Somerset County Sheriff's Office.
The U.S. Attorney's Office said agents executed search warrants in connection with an ongoing federal criminal investigation.
Agents contacted Willing on Wednesday and informed him about the search warrants and the nature of the investigation.

As I have commented bfore, I have no problem in the stories listed on the blog, as long as the facts are accurate. I knew Jack, personally and professionally. The allegations are something I never imagined. To date, we do not know the exact crimes that were the basis of the search warrants, it is assumed that child pornography is involved. There have been no allegations that there have been any incidents or complaints that allege any physical contact or any violation of law to date, other than downloading or purchasing porn and probably chatting to other perverts, which led the Feds to his IP address. Only speculation, and a report from an unnamed source. I would agree that if he did purchase child porn or downloaded anything illegal, he should have been prosecuted. I , however do not agree with the "glad he's dead" etc posts. From what I've seen anything he may have been involved in pales in comparison to the accusations against Michael Jackson, who is being treated like a god in the media.
Jack may have had skeletons in his closet but doesn't everybody. He was not only a good friend who was always willing to offer his help legally and with the school board but his friendship and good humor. He comes from a great family. If you did not personally know him you shouldn't bash him on this site. The only thing you are accomplishing is to see your ignorance in writing. He was not proven guilty of anything. Even if he did possess a dark secret, it doesn't change the great friendship we had.
Great friens dont keep secrets from each other, maybe your fooling yourself.

This rumor started with the poor journalistic behavior of Liz Holland, who has defamed this man through innuendo. Her news story is the only one implicating child porn based on the fact that the agencies involved investigate those crimes AS WELL AS MANY OTHER CRIMES LIKE MAIL FRAUD. This is the same "journalist" (and I use the term loosely) who stated in print that Willing's partner Tony Bruce had committed suicide weeks before the coroner had issued a cause of death. The Somerset Horrible is the worst newspaper I've ever read, filled with typos, poor grammar and poor reporting. Even if it does turn out to be true, you don't print it until you have OFFICIAL corroboration.
I have no secrets. Not to my wife or anyone I consider my friend. The most important thing is I have no secrets from myself. The Mirror doesnt work like that. Differant plain or something,I quess buddy.

These guys cannot just walk into a store and buy this stuff.They circulate it and purchase it from other pedophiles online.One gets busted,they search his hard drive and viola!They find names and info on OTHER offenders,which leads to more warrants.The Feds do not come to your house for little piddly stuff.

Good thing he wasn't Michael Jackson or FOX, CNN and MSNBC would have satelite trucks outside of his home and you wouldn't have a minutes peace.
I feel for the family of the victim, nobody wants that kind of publicity. If Joe hadn't posted it the MSM was going to be soon to follow, and they were.
