CITY HALL

City offices will be closed on Friday, July 3, in observance of the Independence Day holiday.

PLANNING COMMISSION

The regular monthly meeting (Tuesday, July 7) of the Planning Commission has been cancelled due to lack of an agenda. The Commission will resume its regular monthly meetings on Tuesday, August 4.

POLICE

Congratulations John and Mandy Herbert for the birth of their daughter, Aliza Leigh Herbert, on June 30 at 2:16 a.m. Little Aliza was 7lbs, 7 oz and 19 inches long. Best wishes to the entire family.

Sara Ford, a Parkside High School Criminal Justice student, will be joining us on July 6 as she begins her Youth Employment Program. This program provides an opportunity for students interested in pursuing a career in law enforcement firsthand knowledge of the various aspects of the field. Sara will work with FPD through August 14.

Recruit Chris McIntyre will begin the Eastern Shore Criminal Justice Academy on July 6; training will continue through December 17.

PUBLIC WORKS

Routine park maintenance, grass cutting, roadside maintenance, trash removal and disposal of tree limbs have kept the department busy this week.

The Fruitland Volunteer Fire Company officially began operation of its own paramedics service on Wednesday, July 1, 2009. We wish the department much success in their new endeavor.
