In both spots it states..."pronounced due to injuries...." I'm assuming that is "pronounced dead" but thought you might want to correct it.
Yes, is the word "dead' now politically incorrect? I'm so sorry we cannot tell you he whole story because some words have been deleted from our language because they are offensive.
I will be dead someday, as well as everyone reading this blog. Just to let you know...I don't mind you telling people that and I promise not to sue.
De De De De
Although I don't like to see folks getting killed and obviously we don't know the full details of the story; however, I firmly believe that after a certain age individuals should have to re-take and pass the road test at the MVA in order to keep their licenses. Way to often I see older folks who clearly should not be on the roads creating real dangers to those who are out there with them. My grandparents-82 and 84 years old-do not drive anymore at family's request. I have agreed to shuttle them around on the weekends and my mother does it on the weekdays.
Now I don't just want to throw the elderly population under the bus here...there are also young drivers who don't know a lick about driving too. Its not hard at all to get a driver's license these day. And quite frankly, if you fail the test even once then I truly worry about you on the road! Driving is a privilege, not a right! But the MVA is slinging these pieces of plastic around like they are for go carts! A higher standard should be held for motor vehicle licensing.
In addition, with the current economy and fuel costs, we are seeing more and more mopeds out on our streets. I saw 3 moped accidents scenes in Ocean City this weekend-they were privately owned (not marked as rentals like you would expect) and 2 out of the 3 accidents occurred in the center lane of traffic, the portion of there road that they should not be in! Mopedists (I just made that word up!) should be required to hold the proper licensing as well. Currently in Maryland, you do not need a driver's license to operate a moped under 50cc; however, if your license has been revoked or suspended you are required to get a moped permit. So now if you get a DWI, you can now get a moped permit, get hammered and drive home on a moped....Sounds real safe to me! Meanwhile, the driver that hits the drunk mopeder (Made that one up too) gets charged with vehicular manslaughter?! MVA, ARE YOU LISTENING?
Anyone can get a license in the USA! Doesn't even matter if you speak or read english. Talk about scary!!!
I met Mrs. Shorter briefly and she seemed like a very nice lady. Very sorry for their family's loss.
