They came both young and old to participate in raising money for a new Skate Board Park in Salisbury.
This time the participants were close to double what they had the last time they held this event with well more than 100+ skaters.
Even John Robinson joined in after opening his new Skate Board Shop in the Court Plaza and gave away free tee shirts for the first 50 participants.
John, they make helmets to save lives or at least to keep you from banging your head and becoming a Dee, Dee, Deeeee. That strap thing, it's supposed to be secured. We do need to set the example, for what it's worth.

I forgot to bring the tiny skateboard for my daughter. It doesn't help that she still can't walk, though. :)
salisbury had a skatebord ramp. but the city tore it .it was by the park next to the civic center i know this because i used to skate there whe i was younger

How much will this cost the taxpayers of Salisbury / Wicomico county when one of these kids is injured?
Much less than if a kid got hurt skating in a public setting because he/she didn't have a facility set aside to do so safely.
OR about the same as you hve to pay everytime someone gets injured playing ball or picnicing in a public park. NOTHING. IT'S an assumed risk.

So I guess we need to set aside a public facility for every sport/activity someone wants to participate in?
Where's my taxpayer funded 1/4 mile dragracing strip? Or my bungee cord for the Bay Bridge?
And why are lawsuits allowed for kids who injure themselves skateboarding in a public setting with no skatepark?
Isn't it an ASSSUMED RISK?
If someone is using a facility specifically designed for a certain activity and said person is partaking in that activity, it is assumed by the facilitators that the person knows the risks,it is generally assumed by insurance companies and the law that the person knows the risks, and the individual ASSUMES the risk by using the facility.
As far as suing someone because you get hurt on their property (public OR private)...Personally, I think it's repugnant. However, I don't make the laws and it's much easier to sue municipalities (and the private sector) if there is no allocated facility for an activity.
And on another note...if you want a dragstrip or bungee jump thingamabob....try to raise support for it. Start a movement for one and put some effort into it. I for one would never stand in the way of someone pursuing their dreams. Especially if the main goal was some good pure fun.
I can't pick and choose where my tax money goes. Believe me, I can think of plenty of things I don't want my money going to. If I have a problem with any of them, I let my voice be heard. As you have. I'm glad you're chiming in.
We (as a committee) are trying our hardest to make this thing a reality with as little impact on the taxpayers as possible.
There are ways to make it a non-burden after the fact as well. Trying to sink a ship before you even know what is on it seems like a lazy way out.

I just want to say that I would love a 1/4 mile dragstrip... I think straight through the center of Winterplace would be the perfect spot for it too... That park is such a waste of money... You guys wanna complain about something, complain about that place. The County uses it maybe 5 times a year for stupid crap, the rest of the time rich people with horses trot around and poop all over the nicely landscaped lawn. Those baseball fields see more dog terds than baseballs...
