“YOU CANNOT LEGISLATE THE POOR INTO FREEDOM BY LEGISLATING THE WEALTHY OUT OF FREEDOM. WHAT ONE PERSON RECEIVES WITHOUT WORKING FOR, ANOTHER
PERSON MUST WORK FOR WITHOUT RECEIVING. THE GOVERNMENT CANNOT GIVE TO ANYBODY ANYTHING THAT THE GOVERNMENT DOES NOT FIRST TAKE FROM SOMEBODY
ELSE. WHEN HALF OF THE PEOPLE GET THE IDEA THAT THEY DO NOT HAVE TO WORK BECAUSE THE OTHER HALF IS GOING TO TAKE CARE OF THEM, AND WHEN THE OTHER HALF GETS THE IDEA THAT IT DOES NO GOOD TO WORK BECAUSE SOMEBODY ELSE IS GOING TO GET WHAT THEY WORK FOR, THAT MY DEAR FRIEND, IS ABOUT THE END OF ANY NATION.
YOU CANNOT MULTIPLY WEALTH BY DIVIDING IT.”

This is what Bill Cosby has been trying to say for a long time and it is RIGHT ON! and pretty obvious
Yes, but who are we talking about??
What poor are receiving these funds? Are you talking about unemployment insurance? Surely not welfare. That's been substantially curtailed to less than 1% of the budget.
Are you talking about rescinding the Bush tax cuts for the rich? That tax cut was a bad idea from day one, but people who benefit from its recision ARE working. They're not getting a free handout.
Today's NYTimes headline: "States Slashing Social Programs for Vulnerable"
It looks like fewer and fewer of those deadbeats are getting handouts.
Read about the Cloward-Piven strategy and decide for yourself.
