Joe,
As you know the Space Shuttle prototype (OV-101) test vehicle Enterprise is at the National Air and Space Museum Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center adjacent to Washington Dulles International Airport.
On the morning of Nov. 18, 1985 I was on King Street in Alexandra Virginia. I asked two girls that were walking towards me if they had ever seen the Space Shuttle in person. They both look at me some what puzzled. I pointed to the sky to the south and said "There it is". On that day the Enterprise was delivered to Washington Dulles International Airport. Before landing at Dulles the 747 Shuttle Carrier Aircraft with Enterprise on top made a lap of Washington DC above the Capitol Beltway.
