Notice To The Campus Community

Dear Campus Community,

At approximately 4 a.m. today two Salisbury University students near
Severn Hall were approached by three suspects displaying a weapon and
demanding money. Because these students made detailed observations of
their assailants and promptly reported the incident to University Police
on the campus emergency telephone system, University officers were able
to react immediately. A speedy apprehension was made by the Fruitland
Police assisted by the Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office.

Safety is Salisbury University’s paramount concern. University
Police has been working collaboratively with area police agencies to
increase the safety of our students and the local community. We ask
that you exercise caution when moving on and near campus both in daytime
and in evening hours. University Police offers an escort service at
night for students who feel particularly uncomfortable walking alone.
Students may access the Escort Service by calling ext. 3-6222.

We want to praise the students, University Police and their colleagues
in area agencies for their excellent work on this incident.

Dr. Ellen J. Neufeldt
Vice President of Student Affairs
Salisbury University
1101 Camden Avenue
Salisbury, MD 21801

4:00 AM?????? I guess they were getting ready to go duck hunting or something.

Hey, I volunteer to be an escort for all young ladies on campus.

Nice happy ending. Good.
Question - why are college students out walking around at 4AM on a Tuesday morning? The only person who needs to be out at that time is the guy who makes the donuts.

Joe, get the statement of charges, I want to know all the details. And, who were the charging officers? And were these thugs local? I want to know JOE!

Salisbury U has such a great academic reputation. I am SO glad our son commutes. He was "busted" for having 2 beers in his pocket while taking part of the "college life" Thankfully he has his life, and will probably do more community service than the Thugs living and hanging around campus that commit real crimes.
The city of Salisbury is one pathetic mess!

4am. It is the time of year that students are studying for finals. Sometimes they stay up late. Not saying this is the case, But could be.

Salisbury University POLICE? I thought they were security guards! It's good to know SU has 24 hour armed police force. Great job to all agencies involved, now go get some more pieces of shit off our streets.

UMES students that committed the crime. Go figure. we always talk about SU students, but the UMES students are 100x worse. THey are always doing somehting wrong. Bunch of pos thugs

Who cares what time it was, they were victims of an armed robbery. Some of you people are just compound stupid. If they were of age who cares if they were drinking, is there a law against it? At least they weren't driving you idiots. If they were your kids you'd be crying bloody murder.

University students are residents and a huge part of the cities economy, get used to it or move somewhere that makes you happy. No wonder all the University students leave after school, why stay where you aren't wanted? The way things are going you complainers could easily be next in line to have a gun put to your face, who will feel sorry for you? Not me.

If they had been up to duck hunting, they would have never been robbed-because they would have been ARMED and no thug in their right mind would try to rob them.
Regardless, people have a right to feel safe on campus...but it aint just in Salisbury nor are all students innocent
And all one has to do is look at Princess Annes police web page for calls to get an inkling of how many calls they get to the student housing complexes there......and not just for loud parties either.Large unruly crowds are a regular thing, not to mention all the thefts, assaults and hard drugs.

No, University students are not residents. Residents stay after graduation and get jobs and complain bout loud college parties.

The university can move any time it likes. The only ones receiving economic benefits from the students are the beer sellers and rental agents neither of which care a tinkers damn about residents.

man i do not miss people like you 10:42, ignorant and misinformed. Do you know how many jobs are filled by students, the Y's aquatic staff is almost all SU students, go figure they hire only responsible people. Do u know how many local black children look up to us, how involved we are with our neighbors? If anyhting we are more involved with the community than some of you "residents", with your big houses on the Tony Tanks and your SUV's..what community interaction do u all have?

The class and racial segregation and ignorance in that town is causing the problems, the students are a positive aspect of Sloozbury.

It was only a matter of time before the crime came ON campus.

Thanks for the blight, Barrie. And students, you can direct your angry statements to Janet Dudley-Eshbach who grew her SU kingdom at the expense of your safety, right along with Barrie.

To: 7:48-8:05-9:33 etc.

Who in the hell broke the law you idiots? It's not illegal to walk
around a 4:00am or any other time!
I'm up at 4:00am every day and
have been in law enforcement for many years. It is obvious some of you should have attended SU , maybe
that would have helped your thinking process.

It was Salisbury University Police who were the charging officers involved.

"Safety is Salisbury University’s paramount concern." Yet this incident occurred at 4am and the campus was not notified until after 5pm.

seriously people get over it! That goes for students and citizens alike! The college is here to stay! Might as well get along! There are bad students and there are good students, just as there are bad citizens and good citizens!

Joe, I don't know how you do this, people whining senselessly about the same crap....it happens! Crap happens everywhere, if the college students weren't doing it, it would be thugs from a local neighborhood!

This is getting rediculous, I'm an SU student and I feel less and less safe on campus, with all the recent robberies and SU's horrible parking conditions where a lot of students have to walk nearly a mile, crossing streets, walking through a shady tunnel, just to get to class. Something has to be done oh and to 10:42 do you know how much money college students spend at local retailers, just go inside fruitland walmart or pats during winter break you'll see the difference.

Fruitland P.D located the vehicle and the Fruitland Officer who located them should be Officer of the year because these criminals have been involved in many more outstanding criminal acts than just this robbery. Nice job Off. Swafford

All 3 suspects were UMES students. The officer that wrote the statement of charges, deserves recognition. She is a Salisbury University Police Officer, and she was on scene, literally seconds after it occurred. Her alertness and quick action led to the arrests, minutes after it occurred. I hear the suspects had their bond reduced, and are back in class, so watch your six!

Take it from someone who knows, I don't agree with everything the su police do, but there is no doubt they do their job to keep this campus safe, and in reference to the other crimes, you'd be suprised how many people don't report the crimes, and I'm glad this person did because we gottem. Jst a good case of everyone working together.
