On December 12, 2008 at 1:35 PM, an armed robbery was committed in the parking lot of BB&T bank near the campus of Salisbury University (not in the Allenwood Center as was reported in the original campus bulletin.) University Police officers were on scene within minutes of the incident, and the investigation revealed that the assailants had fled away from main campus.
Investigators are examining evidence and questioning persons of interest. Anyone who may have additional information about this crime is asked to contact the Wicomico Bureau of Investigations through the Wicomico County Sheriff’s Department: (410) 548-4891. You may also provide information to the Salisbury University Police Department: (410) 543-6222, or anonymously to Crime Solvers of the Lower Eastern Shore: (410) 548-1776.
I would like to remind our campus community that crimes can occur anywhere, at anytime. Individuals should always be attentive to their surroundings, and remain alert to the potential ill-intent of others nearby. Please review and consider the following tips:
Street Robbery Tips: 1. Try to remain calm. Do not resist. Consider the robber dangerous. 2. In most cases, the robber only wants your valuables/money and is not there to hurt you. 3. Assume the robber is armed, even if you don't see a weapon. 4. If a weapon is displayed, consider it to be real and loaded. 5. Do only what the robber tells you. If you don't understand, tell the robber. 6. Attempt to get a good, complete description of the robber, - taking note of unique and unusual characteristics. 7. Your main goal is to survive! 8. Comply with the assailant unless it is evident that your life is in danger. 9. Remember--your valuables can be replaced, your life can't.
Report any suspicious persons immediately to the police. If possible, use a cellular phone to call 911 while maintaining visual observation of the subject(s).

I wonder how much of a role did the university police officers actually play in the robbery? How did they hear about the call? Were they actually dispatched? Mutual aid? Can someone with the correct information let the readers know.
This isn't a post to blast the university police. I, as a citizen and graduate of the university would like to see them involved in more police action in the community. They are still referred by many as "campus security" and I would like to see that changed.
Anyone else notice that Street Robbery Tip #8 has changed? Previously it was 8. Don't fight back unless it is evident that your life is danger! The most effective self defense measures include running away, hiding and screaming.
Salisbury University Police plays a bigger role than most citizens realize. Most of the crimes are not reported to the daily news; like the recent on campus robberies. Bad for buisness! The department does the best it can with the limited resources the university allows.

Were they stupid enough to use their own vehicle? Oh yeah, did they get any money?
WBOC says there's no one in custody on the 6 oclock

They probably heard it on the scanner.
They are on the Wicomico 800Mhz trunk system.
They can talk on the sheriff Channel.
