How much do you think this event is costing Salisbury Taxpayers? I believe this is the second time they hosted this Business After Hours. With the economy as bad as it is we should not be wasting tax dollars to show off our $12 million dollar McMansion.

Networking Opportunity

Business After Hours:

Tuesday, December 16, 2008 Hosted by Firestation No. 16, located at
325 Cypress Street, Salisbury from 5:00-7:00 p.m.

Please R.S.V.P. to the Chamber for this event.

It really doesn't cost that much to host an after hours Chamber event.
Instead of whining about this, why don't you be thankful that the Chamber brings businesses TOGETHER so hopefully they won't all run AWAY!
Believe me, you WANT your business community working TOGETHER!

The funny thing is that Salisbury is so small that the same people show up to the after hours every time. There is no new networking to made ever; in fact when a new person shows up and has a different idea, they are immediately shunned and ignored. Nothing new is learned and more money is wasted; free drinks and food for all.

Is Firestation 16 involved in "commerce"?

Is it a member of the Chamber?

Inquiring minds want to know.

Mr. Albero,

Is there anyway to find out how much this is costing and who is paying for it?

A voting taxpayer

And an Ignorant Ass replies...

That isn't the answer to the question. Please tell us how much it costs the tax payers of Salisbury to host this event. Although the Salisbury Fire Department spends millions of dollars it is not a business and shouldn't be hosting a Chamber of Commerce event, especially twice in less than 6 months.

Now can someone please give us the answer, how much and who is paying for it.

Everyone calm down. Joe proposed a valid question. Until an answer has been resolved - why the need for hostility? (bored pessimists insert response about economy here)

5:38 PM - Your comment doesn't make much sense. Someone stated that it wouldn't cost much before your "A Reader Asks" actually asked. No need to call one another an 'ignorant ass.'

I go back to my first statement - Joe has asked a valid question. Lets get a proven answer before we start attacking one another. Calling people names like you (5:38 PM) have only makes you look childish and increases community encumbrance.

How much did the Tawes Clam & Crab event cost the city taxpayers? When does it stop...bottled water, hats, table skirts, and staff time when people should be doing their work. If the audit was done on time and the taxpayers felt like they were getting their moneys worth it might be diferent.
