1st Congressional Race Won't Be Decided Until Friday

With Andy Harris down at this very moment by about 1,000 votes, the 21% worth of district not yet reporter will be in Harris' favor. However, there are about 12,000 absentee ballots left that will be counted starting Thursday and they, (Harris) expect to get 55% of those votes. The word is they won't have final numbers in until Friday.

That being said, this race is neck to neck and Campaign Manager Chris Meekins said Andy Haris wasn't coming downstairs until the final numbers are in.

You also have to tip your hat to Frank Kratovil for yet another well fought campaign. The Democrats AND Republicans truly have spoken this year and quite frankly, America wants CHANGE.

It's going to be a long week for these two gentlemen and it will certainly keep things lively on the Blogs as well. You might even say the Daily Times will sell some additional papers to boot.

I'm not sure just how long I'm going to hang out here tonight because it really makes no difference. This 1st District election will not be made this evening, period.

How about a tip of the hat to Jim Ireton and the other local Dems. who helped to get Kratovil a 5000 margin in Wicomico County, which also wnet for McCain.

I congratulate all the winning Democrats. The time is now, no excuses, this party controls every aspect of goverment. Obama promised a tax cut for 95% of Americans. No reason for that not to happen! Lets document the campaign promises by the democrats and give them a scorecard.

Kratovil sure was wise not to associate with "Sbynews". A Republican candidate should have easily won the district by 10 to 15 points.

Harris turned me off in his debate at SU. I vote Repub every time. This time my son and I wrote a name in. We did not give him our vote. Mr. Harris debated like an 8th grader.

As for Obama, not my guy, but history has been made. America can turn another page on its racial issues. I will give him a chance.

Even if Harris pulls this off, I am proud of the local Dems who worked our butts off. We went door to door many times, even on election day, to get out the vote. What an amazing effort! And thanks, Joe, for the gracious acknowledgment of our work. It is a great day to be an American, no matter what happens in this race!

I doubt any party will ever have this much control again. It is now time to heal and move forward. At least I heard those three magic words, "God Bless America." Let's Roll!
