Staind will Perform at the WY&CC on November 19
(Salisbury, MD) Talk about detonating on impact. The Illusion of Progress, the new album from Flip/Atlantic recording artists Staind, rocketed onto the Billboard 200 this week at #3, making it the fourth consecutive album of the band’s career to debut in the top 3.
News of the album’s explosive arrival follows a flurry of headline-making moves for the multi-platinum band, who recently teamed with online retailer Amazon.com for an innovative pre-release promotion, and have been on a worldwide summer tour, to be followed by a run in Europe with Nickelback in September, and headlining dates with special guests Seether and Papa Roach including a date at the Wicomico Youth & Civic Center in Salisbury, MD on November 19.
About The Illusion of Progress, the Boston Globe wrote, “…the music packs as much punch as ever—and more variety, as Staind sometimes departs from its rock-metal power ballads for tunes that suggest Pink Floyd and even Brit band Oasis.” The Hartford Courant praised the band for “pushing its musical boundaries outward,” and USA Today hailed the quartet for serving up a “nicely crafted ballad or two” and “a few engaging surprises, including the sparse, acoustic “Tangled Up In You,” politically charged “Rainy Day Parade” and “The Corner,” with a gospel choir and a bluesy grandeur worthy of Pink Floyd.”
Over the course of the past decade, Staind has sold more than 12 million records worldwide. They’ve had four #1 singles that span three different radio formats, including two massive crossover singles “It’s Been Awhile” and “Right Here.” “It’s Been Awhile” spent 16 weeks at #1 on Billboard’s Modern Rock chart, making it the #1 most played rock record of 2002.

I am going to chuck your tv set out the bloody window if you keep peddling that uninformed Boston Globe rubbish......Staind compared to Pink Floyd (even Oasis)-get ahold of yourself mate.

Lol - Staind is my favorite "all their music sounds the same" band.....
I really do like them - a lot - but I do think that all of their music sounds very much alike.
Staind sounds ok(not great), compared to Clay Aiken in something (taking about 9 weeks and 86 takes)from the studio....but trust me; I've seen them live before-there are better cover bands locally than what you will see live on stage (I actually thought they had disbanded due to irreconcilable differences). And yes, I workshopped how lame that statement appeared when I wrote it, but truthfully Oasis IS better (please remember me as the Pink Floyd fan foremost). Truth is, I write myself and don't feel this piece was written by Mr. Albero-or even anyone who is a Staind/Rock fan. Just because an act is coming to the Civic Center, don't "sell out" by presenting The biased "Zagat Music Report" from Boston. Review the album yourself, and write a passionate review using your own heart and thoughts. Did any of you ever see Pink Floyd? I did on multiple occasions, and if you buy the new album or a concert tik thinking you are getting THAT QUALITY you are going to be so so so (oh, so so so)disappointed...in fact, Keith Moon is a wagering man-I have a nice crispy Ben franklin that says this rather tempermental/unstable "band", (which appears more comparable to Limp Bizkit than Floyd), never even reaches our local stage...just call it an educated feeling based on past "advance bookings" at this "venue" in the past. The good news is, this blog has an archive, so we can all find out in a few months who was more correct here.
