Kratovil Panders for Socialized Medicine

Any time a politician talks about something being a "right", get ready for a tax increase. If congressional candidate Frank Kratovil has his way, get ready to pony up for socialized medicine.

On Thurday, Kratovil spoke before a group of federal retirees in Ocean City. This supposed "independent thinker" was towing the Nancy Pelosi line pretty hard. According to Kratovil, health care is a "right". That means a big new government program. Guess who gets to pay for it?

The govt. can't even maintain the veterans hospitals it is currently charged with managing. What makes anyone believe that the govt. will be able to manage healthcare for the entire nation? It's sad to see so many people expect the govt. to do yet another thing for them. The govt. will NEVER be able to do things for you that you should be doing for yourself. They will just take more money from you to make promises they will never keep.

Our health care system is broken... Whether you can afford insurance or not. The system has become so pro-business and anti patient that the focus of medicine has changed. Simply opening up or "de-regulating" the industry will only worsen this aspect. Most developed countries offer healthcare to their citizens. I don't understand the irrational fear that government assisted health care is the worst thing that we could do for our country. We have spent more in Iraq and on the no-bid contractors than would take to secure medicare, social security, and reform health care.

Personally I can afford health care but still am frustrated by the amount of times I have to fight the insurance companies to get things paid for. Your doctor has to do the same.

Should we deregulate all of our systems, like the post office, schools, law enforcement and just have private companies run them all?

we should let the states run the states. we would have more control over things that way, less places for the devils to hide.

The Federal Govt. is becoming far too powerful.

U.S. Constitution:
Amendment X

The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the states, are reserved to the states respectively, or to the people.

Get a life.

I'm with most of you. Why do people think that the same government that has so successfully screwed up so many things like Social security, the Post Office, the VA, Katrina, our borders etc. will now do a better job of providing medical care to us than we can come up with ourselves. Boy some Americans are either stupid or just "entitlement-minded"

Why would anybody in their right mind want "socialized medicine"? Don't they pay attention to to what happens in the countries that already have it. Long waits, doctors who don't care because they literally work for the government. I'm sorry, but I don't want to have to wait 6 months or more to see a doctor when I have a medical problem. Just my wife and I (no children) pay $1500.00 per month for our health insurance, and I still don't want the government involved in it. Besides, do you really want the same kind of bureaucrats that you bitch about (such as the IRS, and other such agencies) taking care of health decisions that could affect your life. NOT ME!

I'm a 100% disabled veteran and also receive medicare. The government already runs health care for veterans and this system is horrible. It's only good if you don't have any other choice, but be prepared for long waits, Long time between appointments, and long everything else, including travel if you live away from a major VA hospital. Under my VA care, I have to travel 2 hours each way just to get an mri, or xray. Have to see a specialist? Another 2 hour trip. Then there is medicare. They pay eighty percent. That leaves alot of money left to pay. And then you have to find a doctor who accepts medicare. I have to pay $178 a month for a supplimental plan, and I still have copays. I still pay $125 for an mri. So here I am, a disabled veteran, I get 2 forms of goverment controlled health care and I'm spending at least $10k a year out of pocket. L can't wait for another goverment controlled healthcare....NOT!
