While WMDT's Stacy Sakai did a fantastic job on stories referencing Dr. Doug Nolte, ONE MAJOR QUESTION was left out of Stacy's story after she attended the Zoo Commission Meeting last Wednesday.
Stacy should have asked this simple question AFTER the Zoo announced they stand behind Dr. Nolte. Here's the question. "HOW MANY OF YOU TAKE YOUR PERSONAL ANIMALS TO DR. NOLTE?" Ask Anne what happened to her Golden Retriever or her dog named Goldie when it was hit by a car years ago. Ask Anne why she went in the next day to see how her dog was doing and found NOTHING had been done so she picked it up and carried it out of his Office immediately and took it to another Veterinarian as it almost bled to death in Nolte's care.
If that question is asked I think you'll find no one at the Zoo would be stupid enough to use his services, yet they, (like Rapp) support him 100%? And why would they support him 100%? Because there is NO OTHER VETERINARIAN on the Eastern Shore that has ever dealt with exotic animals and has the experience the former Veterinarian Dr. Tragle has. As the Director of Public Works stated, Nolte is cheap and that's why they use him. They have NO CHOICE!
The majority of the Zoo Staff used Dr. Tragle when he worked at the Zoo and probably still do. Again, those poor animals at the Zoo!

Poor Zoo Staff whos VET license is in Jeporday and he has made the zoo staff the laughing stock of Wicomico County.Support him or the road you ballles people and damn the animals. It would not surprize me to read the sick deer has been put down with wwtp tilghmans OK.
cheap price = cheap service
Joe, may seem like a stupid question, but I don't know, why don't they use Jimmy Tragle?
Yes, that question should have been asked by the TV reporter. They can't get a better vet than Jimmie Tragle and they should face that fact now. Has the new Director taken the time to go meet Jimmie and talk with him about his charges? I certainly think he should and should consider bringing Dr. Tragle back to the zoo, if he'll come.

The so called reporter should follow the "money trail". The big question is; If his prices are so cheap, where does he get all of his money??? When that question is answered, he is done.
We took our dog to Dr. Nolte some years ago after he'd been hit by a car on a rural road. After x-rays and an examination, he said that the dog had a couple of broken ribs, but nothing more substantial. However, the dog's condition went downhill - quickly. We had him examined by another vet, who found, using the same x-rays Nolte had, that not only did he have broken ribs, but that his diaphragm was ruptured, forcing his abdominal cavity organs upward to put the squeeze on his lungs and heart. Emergency surgery (four and a half hours of it, with two surgeons) took care of the problem. The surgeon who looked at the x-rays told us that a second year vet school student (or even a well-trained vet tech) should have seen the problem right off.
No more visits to Dr. Nolte after that!
