Yesterday I drove past the Crown Center in Fruitland twice and let me tell you, that place was packed both times! Bill & Judy Hearne have done something here people simply take for granted.
Yes, I know they charge for people to use this facility but believe me when I tell you, this man is NOT making money hand over fist on this facility. I hope they'll forgive me for saying this but ever since they lost their Son, this project came from their hearts and it has been their way of "Giving Back" and let me tell you, they've done just that.
Bill & Judy Hearne are, (IMHO) living legends in Wicomico County and we are all very blessed to have them here. If you've never been to this facility, drop by and visit it and see for yourself just what they've done and offer. I am personally honored to know this Family and you know what, there are very few people in this entire world like them.

My sons Lacrosse league uses they're facility and it is TOP KNOTCH! Those out door fields are THEE BEST I have EVER seen. Parents from B~More County would come down for games and where in dis~believe that we had such a facility here on our humble eastern shore.

I've played flag football at the Hearne facility for the past few years and the fields are manicured to perfection.

Now -that being said- if we could only get our County to maintain similar status then we would really have something to offer the citizens in Wicomico.
Maybe the Hearne's should apply to have the open space money donated to them instead of the County. At least we citizens would have manicured, lush, green fields.
Obviously you don't know Wick or Judy very well. EVERYTHING they do is done first class. Look at his fleet of trucks. Try to get a job driving for them, you'll wait till someone dies or retires because he treats his employees that good.

Crown is truly a regional sports facility as kids from the surrounding counties enjoy the complex. It's a real jewell!
Wicomico County should be receiving very little if any open space money.
The taxpayers would be much better off having the open space money donated to private charities instead.
Case-in-point. . look at the Hearne facility - (private funding). This should be the posterchild for the future of Wicomico County. . .not the Wicomico County Recreation and Parks.

Mr Hearne is a very nice person and although I do not know his finances,
I believer he could afford to have someone mow the grass and field around the complex, yet he chooses to do it, a sign that he really is committed and enjoys what the complex does. It appears that if he is involved it is going to be done right. Coach Hal
They are not the exclusive owners, are they? Not trying to down play their efforts in our community, we are blessed to have them; just thought that someone else had ownership in the business also.
