Sometimes You Have To Eat Crow

Last night I posted an article about a woman 93 years old being raped. Here's the deal. She was 73, not 93.

"Hi Joe,
Sorry to say but that did happen. I know this lady personally, her daughter and I are best friends. I don't think she is 93, think closer to 73. She knew this guy, he came up to the house while she was outside , after they went in he wanted her car and she would not give him the keys.

He sexually assaulted her with a bottle. She is doing ok. She is in the early stages of Alsiemers and she will no longer be able to live there. Between you and I, she should have been out of there some time ago before this terrible thing happened. Her biggest issue with leaving the house is her adopted cats, about 25 of them.. My friend Terri has tried several times to remove the cats and get her into a more livable situation, has even gotten rid of other cats years prior, but she only goes out and brings more home. This may be a blessing in disguise because from what I understand the health dept has condemned the house and the Humane Society has removed most of the cats. She will now be living with her son.

IMO he should have taken more time for her before instead of waiting for this to happen. Apparently she not only took in stray cats, but stray people as well and had given this girl off the street a place to stay. From what I am hearing the girl has a "drug" problem and I would be willing to put money on it that if it weren't for her being there, this guy would have never known anything about Miss Margaret. Since she knew the guy I am sure there won't be any problem in finding him."

I don't care if a woman is 73, 93 or 23 it's NEVER OK TO FORCE YOURSELF ON THEM.

Sexual assualt with a bottle?

We know that rape is a crime of violence, not passion and a man does not need to use himself to committ such a crime.

Alzhiemers?

No excuse, its still sick & twisted. Did he think she would not remember or not believed?

This is a human being we are talking about and illness is no excuse.

Punishment?

This will be left up to the Judge and/or jury because many of the things that will be suggested by your readers will probably be done to this person (can't call him a man) in prison.

Writing the paragraph above a vision came into my mind.

Can you imaging being processed into ECI where everyone knows you sexually assualted grandma with a bottle???

Six-months can easily be a life sentence for this guy...

Even convicts have a code, child molesters an granny rapers... well most of the guys inside have children and they all have or had a grandmother.

Joe: please keep us informed on this case...

Yes, Boss is right, the age doesn't matter. In addition to sexual assault, there's elder abuse and a likely other set of charges.

I hope he goes to prison and they give him every stinkin' thing his sick a$$ deserves.

Before everyone starts blaming the family (which is likely doing a fine job of whipping themselves over this), the balancing act of knowing when your elder loved one needs to keep their independence and when you have to intervene is a damn tough one. I've seen elders fall and break bones with their loved ones right there to help them! So sometimes, no matter how hard you try and what you do, things will happen.

This is sadder than sad. My heart is with this elder victim and the family. And I'm sorry to seem so vengeful, but I've seen so many sick abuse cases, I'm just sick of it.

I pray that she has a good support group as well as a good solid church family. And bless her heart, she sounds like she would probably forgive the low life that did this to her as well. This is the kind of unspeakable, horrid act that make caring people take the law into their own hands after he's caught and get's,what, maybe a little jail time after a plea deal???? God help this world, seriously.

Our prayers are with her!! That is a terrible story.

But... if the local news reported this age on TV incorrectly you all would be all over them. Just another point that "being 1st" isn't always the best.

If it was the Daily Times you would have never known of the correction.

I say find that SOB and blind fold him, shove a bottle rocket up his ass with a long fuse let him wait it out until it explodes. Good thing it wasn't my grandma i would be the one going to jail.

Just goes to show that no good deed goes unpunished. The freak is probably still walking the streets.
