Hopefully, another unit is dispatched and the person in need of EMS will be tended to although it won't be timely. THEN the family of the person requiring EMS should sue the shit out of the city and the SFD. A GOOD lawyer would be able to make a case.

AMEN!

just becuase the bridge may be up, doesn't mean there are not other ways (or other departments) that can handle it

Anon 2:52 -- there are. The point is delay. When a life is at stake, seconds are precious. If it's you or your loved one, you aren't going to want a hold up. Guess it's okay for everybody else, though.

anon 3:31...your not getting the point...there are different routes the ems can take that do not waste seconds,...what they really need is a way to know if the bridge is up BEFORE they leave the station

They can look out the freakin window and see if its up. They can go out into the driveway and hear the damned bells ringing if its up. Quit making excuses for a bunch of dumb asses that call themselves leaders. They couldn't lead an ant army to a picnic.

I believe I saw where the SFD put in for Federal Grant to purchase a new helicopter just in case the bridge is up. . . then they can fly over it.

I believe the cost was 17 million dollars. . .all of which is free money from the Feds.

Thus, it shouldn't effect the Salisbury taxpayers.

But then I got to thinking that they'll have to have a new heliport pad and enclosure. I wonder if they'll ask the City for the new funding.

Anon 4:24 who are the leaders you are talking about??

What confuses the HELL out of me is, and earlier commentor referred to it, why has, not, someone found away to alert the fire department the bride is up, or going up.
There are at least two alternate routes I can think of Mill St and the Main St over the old bridge. Depending on where the fire response is going these routes could be micro seconds longer or possibly even shorter.

It doesn't matter if the FD gets any kind of warning about the bridge being up. Have you ever been in that area when the bridge is up? Everyone tries to go around on the Isabella side and they can't because it is backed up for miles both ways.

The real solution would have been to put up a satellite station on Nanticoke Road or even further out. For $10 million that could have gone a long way on salaries for staffing.

there is no need to have these bridges anymore, there obsolete, trash em and rebuild the road. there is nothing north of the bridges worth going threw all this over.

Crugg...there are still those businesses that need the barges to get through.

Anon.8:00 You got it right; a substation would have made more sense for a lot of reasons.

Cruggly, Barrie Tilghman would like nothing better than to do away with those bridges. Thats her plan when she goes in to rape the land owners on the North Prong.

The solution for the bridge is as obvious as the nose is on your face. What's happening now is a Crap Shoot!

The bridge stays closed until the 911 Center gives an "all clear" to open it. They would know about any in route or pending dispatches.

Why won't this work? Too logical?

I am glad i wasnt the one in need of these paramedics, if they dont have sence enough to drive around the bridge, i dont want them to do anything to me either.
This is one of the few bridges you can drive around.
stupid
