Back in 2007 we ran a post about a discussion I had with several Salisbury businessmen. After listening to them whine about the state of the city I asked a very simple question:
While each answer was worded a bit differently, the core of each response was the same:
To date, there has been only one businessman who has had the moral fiber to show up and complain - Stu Leer. Remember, Barrie is already trying to make his life miserable so I guess he had nothing to lose. But at least the public can hear it first hand:

Perhaps SWED will use the tape as part of one of its economic development pieces. Perhaps the Larsons will discuss their views on Mayoral intimidation in their next episode in Crossroads Chronicles (the quarterly Barrie Tilghman propaganda organ).

If you are so dissatisfied with the state of affairs in Salisbury, how come I don't see you at City Council meetings expressing that dissatisfaction?

If I show up and complain on Monday night, Tuesday (Wednesday at the latest) Barrie Tilghman will have her codes compliance people out to my business writing citations like there's no tomorrow.

What's up with Feldman Antiques near the plaza? I heard that place was shut down a while back by the code people and then they opened back up in no time. I went in that junk store, I mean antique store the other day and it is scary. I hope there is never a fire in that place because someone is going to die. Who owns that place? Are they FOB's?
Here's what Mr. Leer said at the last City Council meeting when he discussed that and the other cases where he has beat the Housing Board in court:
In 1998, when Ms. Tilghman became mayor, . . . my partner and I were talking to her . . . and she said “I know you didn’t support me; I will get even.”
It appears that she is using the City Attorney as a City funded attack dog in her personal vendetta against Mr. Leer. This latest episode has cost over $18,000 in legal fees, and now the City has to pay Mr. Leer's court costs in Annapolis.
G.A., Barrie Tilghman has run a reign of terror on this city in many ways.
Thanks to her ruthless dirty politics, the pool of good candidates for the city is ridiculously small. I know a guy who'd have been great on the council. Although he's been asked, he said, "No way."
Why?
Because he has a family and a business, and he's seen what that witch does to people who don't pledge their allegiance to her.
She AND her crony circle have damaged this city beyond belief. If we don't change both the mayor and the Shanie seat while holding Campbell's, this city will be damaged beyond repair.
I'll wait out the next election. But if we don't see change, that's it. I'm moving.

OMG, what I would do to take part in that.
Her vendetta's have cost me and my family thousands of dollars and basically ruined my career. Why is this B!TCH unstoppable.
We need to insure that ALL the voters in this town know of the queens activities as mayor, so that they will vote the right way. And we neeed to do the same with the three bobble heads on the council too. Can't wait for next spring!!

Seriously, it seems as though Barrie is accused of threatening intimidating tactics as part of her governing style. If this is so--how can this continue? Why is she getting away with it?
How can it be stopped? If not through the legal system, then through bad publicity through the court of public opinion? How can the shenanigans of this bunch of wayward marauders get their comeuppance? I can only hope their is some behind the scenes stuff going on that will ultimately put a stop to this fascist bunch that are ruining our town. I truly believe the time has come where the little guys will stand up in numbers and not take this crap lying down anymore. The cat is out of the bag.

The honorable mayor Barrie Tilghman has been very supportive of my city business. I support her with campaign money, a couple free weekends at the beach, dinner certificates to local restaurants, etc. If you want someone to be nice to you, then treat them with the dignity that the office she holds has. It is only human nature to treat your enemies differently. So wise up folks. Let us all work together and make Salisbury the city that should be the pride of Maryland.

Isn't this against all rules? And how much were the campaign contributions? HMMM?
Most of what I read about MARE is personal stuff. So, she is not a nice person.
To those who care about the city it is not personal, the "offenses" are immoral ,illegal,irresponsible,incompetent,
or all of the above.
A public official's personality may help or hurt at election time, but, the FACTS of misfeasence in office is what will take them down.
As many people as the MARE has treated badly personally, I am sure there are many examples of her use of her office for private gain, etc. Those things should be discussed and brought to this forum.
(We have a person who did that recently, and he has been praised and thanked because it took character and a bit of bravery)
