The photo above was taken last night of Wayne Barrall and I sitting as some of the last people to sit in this home before it was burned down last night.
I will have a post up later today describing my experience on the scene that will take your breath away, I hope. Nevertheless, I have things to do today and I'll be back later to share some incredible photos as well as my personal experience with many fine men and women in our local Fire Departments.

I want some of what your taking Joe, you and Wayne were pretty much sworn enemies and now posing on a couch together? smiling? What is the deal, what happened to the no holds barred attitude you had. You use to stick to your guns and not worry about making friends. Don't get me wrong I think it's great you two can get along, but it was like this all happened all of sudden. What happened? Did you just decide it was easier to be friends? Or did they get something on you? Many of us are curious to know what went down to make you change your whole attitude on many subjects not just this one. You have even seemed to let up on the Salisbury FD, you must not care about the 2 new engines and 2 quints they are going to buy next year.
Very glad to see the two of you sitting there together. To bad this could of not happened sooner and the both of you could of advoided your problems.
I'm glad to see you & Wayne put your differences behind you. Wayne is even half-smiling.

I am very glad to see that not only you and Wayne have made peace, but that you and the fire departments are learning you are truly on the same side.
All it takes is for them to get to know you as a human being and for you to gain an understanding of what they do.
BOTH you and Wayne/FDs understand something Barrie Tilghman never will because of her my-way-or-the-highway, crush-the-opposition mentality. That is why she is not fit to be in a leadership position.

It was a pleasure to have you with our group last evening. We appreciate that you took the time to come and see what we do to prepare for the task we face. We have invited the media on several occasions to take part in our live exercises. Some, like Liz Harrington from WBOC have accepted and we're still waiting for the others. We would love to have you come and learn with us.
You had the chance to see up close and personal how fire behaves. You were closely supervised and yet still felt the rush of adrenaline. The opportunity was there and you accepted the challenge. I commend you for doing so and you honestly made a good attack on the fire.
This was a win win situation and both sides walked away with a better understanding of what we do. Thanks again and lets do it again sometime.

When I see Albero and Chiefy sharing a moment at Seacrets, that's when I'll believe bygones are bygones. LOL.
growth..its a pretty cool thing. Just because you put your gun down doesn't mean it's not loaded.
See, even if Joe tries to do something to bring people closer together, mend a bridge, somebody has got to take a stab or a cheap shot.
I think it was a smart move on everyone's part to try and work together even if at times they don't agree on every single issue every minute of the day.
Kudos to Bryan, Wayne, Joe and all involved. Like I used to have to tell my ex-wife, you just can't stand seeing someone get along with someone you don't like.
I fixed her butt, I got the kids and the house, she pays child support.
Reality is, Joe never had a problem with the rank and file, but for a few who frankly were a bad reflection on FF's.
It's the "leadership" he's really taking on. Cuz they ain't up front, they spend too much, and they've hitched their wagons to one ugly political machine.
Remember, the Local FF Union didn't support Bubba, one of their volunteer "own." It ain't because of career vs. vollie.
To you pot shot takers, forget you. I think it shows maturity on Joe's, Wayne's and all FF's parts.
Stop trying to throw gas back on the fire.
I think this is a wonderful thing that Joe and Wayne are getting along. I wasn't trying to start anything with a previous comment I made, just seems like overnight things changed and I thought maybe Joe would have told us that he and Wayne were trying to "work" things out. I never thought that Joe had anything against all firefighters, just a few select people. But Joe don't forget to still keep us updated on further wrong doings that we need to know about.
I AM GLAD EVERYTHING IS COPASETIC BETWEEN YOU GUYS. BUT LET ME TELL YOU JOE, I HAD MY DOUBTS. I HAD JUST SEEN WAYNE WALK UP TO THE HOUSE AND THEN I WATCHED YOU WALK UP SHORTLY AFTER. I WAS BACKING UP THE RESCUE TRUCK AS YOU WALKED UP THE GRASS DRIVEWAY, I ALMOST GRABBED MY PHONE TO CALL SHERIFF LEWIS TO PUT HIM ON STANDBY. BUT I AM GLAD I DIDN'T HAVE TO. CONGRATULATIONS TO THE BOTH OF YOU ON A BETTER FUTURE.
