The Mayor’s administration wants to increase the sewer and water rates by 25% this year and 20% more next year.
Also proposed by the administration are over $2 Million of "supplemental requests" that would require another double digit tax increase. It's deja vu all over again!

The only good news is that this could be the last budget under Barrie Tilghman. But would it be any better if Comegys is "R Necks Mare"?
This is from today's DT:
*************************
The city is looking to spend about 12 percent of the proposed fiscal 2009 budget on debt service. "I think the city has made significant stress and the city's debt is justifiable," said Mayor Barrie Parsons Tilghman.
. . .
Councilwoman Terry Cohen said the city's debt level is taking away from its ability to provide for residents.
"Our debt has reached $2,888 per capita," she said. "That is the debt for every man, woman and child residing in Salisbury. That rating in financial health speak is considered weak."
Let's take another look at (and kill) those TIF's and developer subsidy deals before it's too late. The time has come to show the FOB's to the door.
How about another 150% pay raise for Barrie. She's doing a great job.
Bubba better not give up his day job, don't git any easier than that.
Anon 7:29 has the right thought on all this TIF mess. It's time we do puta halt to them now and retrieve what we can. Need also to cut the mayors budget and use some of the surplus funds in the water/serwer account to offset the needs to upgrade. We can't stand the increases they propose!
