Is there ANYBODY out there who actually got the amount promised in the George Bush "stimulus" package?
I was told over and over and over, my household, i.e. my wife and I, would get $1,200.00.

My sister - in - law and her husband got $600.00. He was furious and asked everyone he knew and couldn't find ANYONE who got the amount promised!
Has any of your readers gotten the full amount??

It will cost twice that amount when they decide they need it back. Poor Curious George, he just wants to make everyone happy, or is that miserable? I don't think I'm happy at this point.
Years ago a lot of these political idiots would have been tarred, feathered and ran the hell out of town on the next rail.

Lady I work with got her $1800. Divorced with two kids. Just as she was promised. I am still waiting for mine. Should be $1200. Other peoples in the office have gotten theirs. All as promised. I think maybe someone owed some taxes and got some shaved off the top.

gotmine early and for the right amount. Most of the people I work with did as well, except for those who got paper check refunds. They're still waiting. I also heard that the payment could be less if money is owed in back taxes.

Most people don't realize that this is just drowning the nation in more debt. I don't have any kids so when it's time to pay it back it will be your kids and grand kids that will be paying for my check.
If he's giving it away I'm not stupid I'll take mine. Another point, last year my dollar was worth $1.00, same dollar now is only worth $0.80 on the world market and that even makes things made in China cost more.
Oh things are going to get a lot worse before they even start to look better. Impact's of bankruptcies and foreclosures haven't even begun to show what the trickle down effect will be.

I got my $1500, maybe you owed the gov't money and they took it. ie back taxes, penalties, interest.
I thought I was getting 600 but only got 300, didn't stimulate my economy the way I had hoped..oh well better than 0$...
My husband and I got our promised $1500 (one child). We're happy with it!

My understanding is that you won't get back more than was owed for the year, i.e., total tax liability, so if you only owed $678, that was your "stimulus" amount. The amounts you keep hearing about in the news are the maximums if you pay lots in taxes. And it may be that they deducted any amount owed for penalty and interest if you underpaid on estimated taxes.

If you would learn the truth about the Fair Tax initiative and get rid of the IRS, everyone will keep much more of their hard earned money and never have to worry about a runaway Government agency taking everything you own. Take away the power of government to pick your pocket. Only the people can do it because political types won't unless forced to. Want freedom? you have to fight for it.
I wrote the email receiving $678. I guess I just over-reacted. Factory closings just get to me ,I guess.

I can't wait for my $1200 in borrowed Chinese money. Then I can go spend it on things made in China, and help out the Chinese economy even more! The only way I'll keep it in the United States is if I buy some beer, maybe a little bit of gambling, or take a trip to Vegas and buy a prosistute. God I love the way our lovely fearless leader thinks sometimes.

I didn't get any stimulus. I guess they thouht I was already stimulated enough. That's O.K. I know there are some folks out there that could use it more than me. Let them use it for their families.
Our family got the 2100.00 we were promised. (married w/3 children)And on the day they promised it!!
Everyone I know got what they expected-I am guessing it varies according to your own tax situation.Our household of 3 pulled in 41k last year and we got the amount we expected-$1500.Consider having your return amended because that doesnt sound right.
BTW.I heard someone in DC suggested a second stimulus refund this year!

I got 1500 as promised. Now I just want to find out how to get one of those cards that makes everyone else pay for my groceries. Then I wont have to pinch pennies and get shoulder flank steaks and high fat ground beef, I will be able to get steamed crabs, ribeyes, and sirloin burger. Only thing is I still wont be able to go out into the parking lot and get into an expensive SUV parked illegally because my fat a$$ is too lazy to park legally from all the free groceries Ive been eating. Maybe after a couple years of free groceries, I will be able to save up for the SUV and the expensive cell phone that seems to accompany most everyone with one of these cards. TALK ABOUT A RACKET!!!!!!

I hope they give us some more money. I also hope they give us back some our liberty which we lost after 911. We are killing the terrorists aren't we? There aren't any more attacks. Why can't we have back our liberty?
Well just to let you know my husband and I were suppose to get 600 each. The IRS website said we would get it on Friday 5/9/08. Well it is Sunday and we have received nothing so far. Yes we paid our taxes about 10,000 dollars combined.
Yes we got a refund through direct deposit. We owe no federal or state taxes. So what the hell happened to our economic stimulus rebate I guess we got lost in the shuffle. So I will have to call them tomorrow and find out what happened to it. Also I have heard a lot of people who have already got the exact amount they were promised on the date they were promised. I guess I am just lucky.
Without bad luck I would have no luck at all.

The government never promised $600 or $1200. Those were the max amounts a single or married couple could receive whose incomes were under $75,000. There were multiple factors taken into account to come up with what a person received. For information look on CNN for articles about the refunds.
Single mom with 2 kids...was told I should get $1200. I got back $900..? Hey, something to pay for a little gas and groceries is better than nothing. I certainly didn't owe anything and I work full-time, I just worry that this will bite us in the @ss down the road!
