The drive-by shootings are for induction into gangs and allegedly the 21 year old woman killed in the Bottle Factory drive-by was not the intended victim. She was allegedly pushed out in front by the intended target. She has a seven-month old baby.
But there are No Gangs in Salisbury, just ask the Mayor and Police Chief.

Okay you idoits...I agree we have a problem with gangs...however you can not put an officer at every establishment in Salisbury 24 hours a day no matter how many officers they hire. I have to agree with parts of what the last commented stated. I remember what it was like being confined to the house 24/7 and how WONDERFUL it was to get out. It takes several months for a Mother to feel she could actually leave her new baby with someone else, therefore I have no issue with this Mother getting out and enjoying herself, she deserves it.
Everyone has the right to their opinion and we're all not always going to see eye to eye. It's a shame what happened, period. That poor child!
I'll close with this. It's one thing when a child like this loses their Mother for life. It's another when a child loses their Mother and they're still alive. At least theirs closure in this case. In our case with our Grandson, there's never going to be closure and emotions will always run high for our Grandson. What if? When? Where? Why? Life can be very tough on these little guys and girls, remember that.

So Joe..If take home police cars prevent crime, why didn't this one work? He wasn't asleep in bed. HE was on duty right next door and the poor girl still got shot and killed.
Joe, at least your grandson has you and your wife. I understand what he is going through is hard enough, but when a child has someone like you and your wife loving him or her and to love in return, a child's resilience is amazing.
The baby of that mother gunned down will never know mommy, and the mother was taken by violence. I pray for the family and that they will be strong for that baby, giving it all the love it can muster so that this baby, too, can grow up with the resilience to overcome this tragedy.
This is a horrible event, and yes, please, for God's sake, could we NOT blame the victim?
Things have changed in Salisbury. I can remember a few fights when that place was The Firehouse, but I don't remember guns. You could walk out of there unafraid. It's hard to walk anywhere in Salisbury at night, even out of the grocery store, without being afraid.
Well I happen to agree that this mother had no reason to be near this gang hangout. Her first and only responsibility is to her child and just because she felt stuck inside, was no reason to be out where she was. Where is the father, by the way? Or is this another of those fatherless children on top of loosing her mom?

Let's get something straight here. What the heck does a take home car have to do with anything here? I know there was some mention of someone shopping at Giant but that's not what I heard. They had just driven past the Bar and were about to the Giant Parking lot when it happened.
Heck, for all I know it could have been a State Police Officer, a WCSD, the SPD, who knows. All I can tell you is, take home cars have nothing to do with this shooting. Sounds to me like you have a problem with Police Officers period?
Now, as far as take home cars preventing crime, give me a break. They obviously do. Ask anyone you know, there have been many times OFF DUTY Officers have written tickets, been first on accident scenes saving lives, been in an extablishment while a crime happens. There have also been many cases where a Take Home Vehicle parked in certain neighborhoods have destracted criminals.
My beef with take home vehicles is if you do NOT live in the City you work in and or County. I understand the State Police situation, yet I don't agree with it fully. They should station more Officers in areas in which they live. I know that's not always possible but it would be nice.
Chief Webster is a perfect example of what's wrong with abuse of take home vehicles. Tell that SOB to live in the City or drive your own damn car. Crissfield is NOT local! Nor was Ocean City. He's making the big bucks, buy your own damn car. Does the City of Salisbury pay for the Mayor's car? I know that's one of the perks in Ocean City.

There was NO SPD police vehicles next door at Giant at the time of the shooting! All officers on duty were tied up elsewhere and accounted for. The idiot that gave you that info was probably doing all the shooting.
Take home cars are good for everyone, as long as they are used appropriately.
We have many who take advantage as Joe had pointed out before with some departments.
Joe, we live in the county (because we lived here before he worked in SPD, and my kids are at an age where switching schools is just cruel...so lets not go there) and my husband works in the city. He is denied a take home car. However, on several occasions he has done some kind of work off duty. I have to admit, it ticks me off, when he does this...We bust our butts (especially now) to put gas in our tank!
I should also mention we don't live far out of the city limits, and spend most of our time somewhere in his jurisdiction. So, my point is, just because you don't live in your jurisdiction doesn't mean you shouldn't get a take home. I agree, that there is a limit to this being acceptable, and I will just leave it at that!
But you also have to remember, just because they are not working on traffic or crime scenes, doesn't mean they are working. They have to go to court, and a lot of them go daily, and sometimes more than once a day!
Thursday nights at the Bottle Factory (or anywhere else) specifically designated as "Black Night" sends a wrong message anyway. First off, it smacks of racism. The owners/operators of the Bottle Factory have to know that.
Of course, Chiefy now has to confront the 'no snitch' culture--Barrie and Chiefy don't have a clue.
Well as someone who works the streets of Salisbury I can tell you that the gang and drug problem in Salisbury is much worse then anyone will ever tell you. There are two big problems: 1. The city and SPD admin wont admit that there is a problem. 2. The gang mentality, (no snitching). Without help from the cowards on scene this crime may not get solved. SOMEONE PLEASE HELP US!!

AND they use them way too much for personal use. I am not talking about one police force...I am talking about all of them. I am sure you would only want me to refer to the SPD because YOU have a problem with the Chief right? I do not need a police car in my neighbors driveway !!! I have a gun in my house that will take care of anyone who enters uninvited.
