Last night was mayhem in Salisbury when many people staying overnight at the Hampton Inn in on Naylor Mill across from Toys-R-Us busted a water valve and the entire place was flooded!
Apparently they had to evacuate everyone last night and they had major flooding. It took the City Public Works Department about 45 minutes to respond and water was steady rolling out and there was nothing the Hampton Inn could do until the City got there.

And did you know there was a major fix that City Public Works had to do about a week ago at about 3:00 A.M. (near Market Street) which had the potential of huge repercussions.....
Was the problem in the City's lines, etc., or the property owner's?
Apparently. That is the word.

What's apparent (and "the word")?
Yep, the infastructure in this city is falling apart and our mayor refuses to address the problems by budgeting money to replace sections of old water lines, among many other infastructure problems, like street repavings! I sure hope everyone remembers this come next spring and the elections.
A Goetz
To note, The Saisbury Fire Dept. was there assisting with water removal from the ground floor. Only the ground floor of the Hampton in was flooded. The main water pipe leading into the hotel had broken. No one was evacuated, they and their belongings were simply moved to other rooms.
Unless you're calling them for lunch, there's no hope of getting the public works dept. out in any short time frame.
Yup last city council meeting a water main burst on Main Street, shut off water to the GOB. No drinking water, no bathrooms, no sprinkler fire protection, but the Show must go on. hmmm

WTF was the fire department doing there assisting with leaking pipes??? When the f**k did broken water pipes become an emergency?? What a waste of emergency resources and tax dollars.
8:10 It is the job of the fire service to mitagate damage, for anyone in need, business or private. What a stupid statement, bet if your pipe broke, you would want help. Now, an emergency of life would dictate a higher priorty, however a reasonable effort to help with water removal is in the expactation of the fire service, after all even the Hampton Inn pays yaxes.
Hey 4:49 ever heard of an electrical hazard. That is why they were there.
after all even the Hampton Inn pays taxes.

not in an enterprise zone....they don't
The fire service's entire existance is to protect life and PROPERTY. The flood was causes a direct electrical hazard and without the fire services assistance could have resulted in death or injury. so to anonymous 8:10 go learn something about the fire service before you bash them. RETARD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I did have the unforunate experience of having a twister take my parent's home roof off while my father and I were watching Dan Rather and the CBS news. Luckily my Mom had went to play Bingo and wasn't there at the time.
I ran as fast as I could to the neighbors house to make a call, then when he let me in, I didn't know who to call, there was no fire.
And, yes the fire department came and disconnected the electric without my call, and I thank them.
