Pork In The Park

The Pork in the Park event is just days away and it seems to be the talk of the town! This year you'll be relieved to see new vendors setting up and selling food, one of them will be the Station 7 Restaurant from Pittsville. Hopefully the lines won't be as bad to get some good food this year.

If you're looking for Family Fun this weekend, don't miss this event. They have rides, all sorts of live music shows, I believe a motorcycle show and of course their BBQ Cook Off Competition. Besides, it's really cheap to get in too. I'll post more details when we get closer to Friday. I'm told they started setting up for the event yesterday.

Pork in the Park Bar-B-Que and Beer Festival to be held at Winterplace Park in Salisbury, MD on April 18-20, 2008.
The festival is open from 4pm to 10pm on Friday, April 18, 10:00am to 10:00pm on Saturday and 11:00am to 5:00pm on Sunday. Admission is only $2 per person, and children under twelve are free.

For more details, GO HERE.

This is also being advertised as a "beer festival". I went last year for the first time and was surprised at all the people that were drinking. I know they have a lot of other things to offer, but in my opinion it was not a place to take children.

JESUS WENDY, RELAX. I ALREADY POSTED IT ON THE 7TH AND I SAID I'D GIVE MORE DETAILS BEFORE FRIDAY IN THIS POST.

HOWEVER, FOR YOUR CONVENIENCE I HAVE REPOSTED SOME OF THE INFORMATION INCLUDING A LINK TO TAKE YOU BACK TO MY ORIGINAL ARTICLE.

I HOPE THAT MAKES YOU HAPPY?

I disagree.

There's beer at the Shorebirds Stadium. There's beer at 95% of baseball and football stadiums.

You can't shelter your children from everything. They have a section set up completely for children with rides and the whole nine yards.

If you're concerned about beer, take your kids there during the earlier hours and enjoy. This is a great event and quite frankly, I don't recall seeing anyone there drunk, out of line and or fights. So please don't try to make this out to be something it's not.

I realize that. But the Shorebirds do have a section of bleachers that is advertised as a family section (alcohol free). We do frequent the Shorebirds games quite often as a matter of fact. We went to Pork in the Park last year at lunchtime and a vendor that had already had a few asked us to reach in the back of his pickup and hand him his beer.
I know children can't be sheltered from everything. But when they advertised it on TV as a beer festival, it was clearly promoting drinking, that's all I was trying to say.

I agree with Joe, having attended the previous Pig in the Parks this is an excellent family affair.

Well, I'm looking forward to a good time WATCHING the beer drinking, and driving myself safely home. If there is a better deal for my entertainment budget I haven't seen it here in SBY. $2?
Where can you have this much to do for a mere $2 admission fee?

If you like blues music, make sure that you check out Tom Principato, playing Saturday night at 8pm.

It looks like the nice weather will still be holding out for us. Should that be the case, he's going to rock that place into the ground!
