Immigration Agents Crack Down On Pilgrim's Pride Plants

Federal Immigration Agents have raided several Pilgrim's Pride Poultry Plants in five states today. They are cracking down on an alleged scam to provide fake identification for illegal immigrant workers.

More than 100 people are expected to be charged in the raids at the nation's largest chicken producer. Could the Eastern Shore be next?

I don't agree with illegal immigrants being here , but at the same time I ask myself, "What is going to happen when they are all sent back," I mean no one wants to do the kinds of jobs they do, such as, poultry, landscaping, farming, McDonald's! I mean really yea lets send them all back, But what the heck are we going to do then its not like me or you want there jobs? So how is that going to help our economy!
My Theory, let them stay and bring there family's as long as they don't collect from the state, "WELFARE" this way the money stays here, spent here, and they get r done, Look at the issues Arizona is having!
I mean how many Americans would still work for $7.25, get there hands dirty, or maybe do a little work?
Joe,
I bet as soon as they get rid of the majority of immigrants, company's will have to pay the price, company's pay these guys $7.25- $8.00, they will have to pay Americans or a Citizen $9.25-$12.00 for the same job, which means a lot of businesses will struggle to stay open. Also Joe, I heard they already busted a local Perdue plant. Look into it and let us know.

I thought that as long as the illegal immigrant provided a document that contains a valid social security number, the employer didn't need to question the authenticity of the document. What's the real answer?

A relative of mine worked at a poultry plant and there were many, many cases of five or six workers having the same SS number. With computers being what they are, why didn't the second worker to give an "already entered" SS number get caught?

I used to think the government should raise the minimum wage. However since I have gotten older and wiser, I now see that some people just aren't even worth minimum wage.

Please Lord don't take all my renters away.I can get more money out of my houses from the immigrants than those college kids. Not only do I get rent but also protection money so they won't be turned into the authorities and back south they go.Renting in Salisbury is one of the most lucrative investments. So all we have to do is keep good elected officials in office like Barrie Tilghman and her supportive group who make Salisbury a special place to live.
