Why is there a Jewish Student Association? Isn't this America?

I wonder how many schools in Israel or other countries have an American Student Association?

Are you serious? At every campus there are different groups and associations which represent a variety of religions, ideals, activities, and functions. Students with common bonds represent their groups history and mission through events to provide not only remembrence, but to facilitate discussion on the issues; i.e. awareness and education.

We here in America pride ourselves on the privilege and gift to be able to actively form groups and practice our belifs. Though, on a side note, just because we have the right does not necessitate that we use that right for any concept; i.e. hate groups, The KKK, neo nazis, ect. How many other countries have this liberty to practice what they want?

The Jewish Student Association is a group that celebrates their heritage and customs through the eyes of their beliefs and common bonds of being fellow members of the Jewish Community. Tonight's speaker is such an event which opens every one back to the greatest wound to mankind for reflection.

So to answer your questions. Yes this is America and God Bless It!

Is it possible with the governments and cultures of other countries to allow for these groups? Wasn't America founded on diversity and Legal Immigration? Religious tolerance, ever hear of that? Doesn't religion transends borders? I know that is a loaded statement with tons of inherent problems, but through ones own spiritual religious journey is not ok for one to come up with their own judgments and answers to their spiritual questions? I think you are misguided on comparing a religion to members of a country.

Good comment, Nick.

I'll shorten it for you.

1:27 anon, there are Christian groups on campus. Muslim groups on campus.

So Jews can't have one?

Maybe you need to attend tonight to get some perspective, including why why Israel was created in the first place.

The creation of Modern Israel has its roots in the Balfour Declaration at the end of WWI. Because Britain and America drug their feet, WWII HAD TO OCURR. The poor Jews in Europe needed to be scared into settling the Ancient Land promised to Moses. Isn't this the case?
