Recall Effort Has Support Of Many City Residents

The Salisbury University student who has correctly challenged and identified the incompetence and ineffectiveness of our local government has the support and encouragement of a large majority of Salisbury citizens.

The ridiculous notion that his effort is motivated and driven by "unknown" sources is a poor attempt to defame this young man's credibility and purpose.

Unfortunately for these targeted city officials highlighted for recall, this is a poor attempt on their part to deflect and escape public notice of their poor performance. It should also be noted that the mayor, council President Louise Smith, Councilman Gary Comegys and Councilwoman Shanie Shields are actually noncompliant with the standards established in the city of Salisbury's mission, values and vision statement.

If you read this document, especially the area of core values, you will see these public officials fail to meet the requirements. This should further substantiate, validate and endorse the current recall effort.

The current arrogance and abuse of power by these individuals is inexcusable and will continue to impede real progress required to properly operate the city of Salisbury. The political climate that exists now is based entirely on bullying, noninclusion and lack of accountability toward its citizens.

I find it hard to believe any citizen of Salisbury endorses, accepts or is satisfied with what exists. These current officials cannot be oblivious to their inept, divisive and nonrepresentative style of government.

The effort to recall is necessary and correct, and all in question should immediately resign from office.

The time for accountability is here. I am standing with Jordan and will use my abilities to fight for this. There are times when we must stand up for what is right, whether it is in our jobs, in our own personal lives, or in Public, when those we place our trust in disregard with an arrogance that stinks to the Bay Bridge.

The majority of the council rejects
change. They don't understand that change is constant and needed to
progress. The city is a mess.
Glad I don't live there.

Joe and Bruce:

That ranting letter that Louweasel sent to a citizen who exercised her right to speak out -- Donna Ennis -- makes it clear that both Ms. Smith and Barrie Tilghman should be thrown out of office ASAP.

Thanks for writing this, Mr. Webster. Because of recent events, many Salisbury residents fear retribution by the Mayor if they say something she doesn't like.

This is so true!! She has burnt me twice and I am an upstanding citizen. Power in the hands of a female dictator is dangerous. Look at what it has done to Barrie and Louweasel. Thank God Debbie and Terri aren't dictators.

Smith can write as many nasty letters as her hand will allow. I know Donna Ennis and others like her won't back down from their fight to end the corruption that continues under the current non-leadership of Barrie, Louise and Gary, and the snoring of Shanie. And add a few non-elected city employees to the list of those that need to go. I won't name names, but most people know who I mean.

March Madness would be incomplete without Barrie's annual "State of the City" spiel. Can't wait to hear this one -- I like humor.
