While Deputy Joel Arnold was doing a routine speed trap on Jersey Road he pulled over this vehicle. He walked up to the car and just as soon as he got to the drivers side window, the Idiot took off like a bat out of hell. Racing down Jersey Road he failed to negotiate a turn near Adkins Road, swerved across the road, hit a power line pole and went airborne while landing on the hood of the vehicle. Deputy Arnold stated he had been in excess of 100 mph during the chase.
A Chopper was brought in but the diver was conscious when they extracted him from the vehicle so they took him to PRMC in an Ambulance. They did find a large bag of weed on the scene.

Well he did not elude them long did he... he wrecked his ride and still got cought. Just goes to show it does not pay to run from the police. you think that people would learn from watching cops. They have an entire show dedicated to the idiots that think they can get away.
Well seems pretty darwinian to me. If you don't want to crash and possibly die then don't run from the police. I'd rather get locked up then die or get seriously injured in a wreck.
It looks like the Sheriff's Office has been catching pretty much everyone they have chased so... I'd make sure my heath insurance and life insurance are paid up.

Why??? The driver of the car didn't request the helicopter the volunteer fire chief from the Delmar Fire Department did. Why was a helicopter needed anyway? Isn't the hospital 5 minutes or less away by ground? Only an idiot from a volunteer fire department would call for a helicopter to a car accident. The Maryland State Police doesn't charge for helicoptor transport so only an idit like NONAME would think they did. Keep your comments to yourself if you don't know what the hell you are talking about.
Simply having a hospital close does not cancel transporting a patient by medevac. Many times, mutliple trauma patients are flown to Shock Trauma/University Center in Baltimore, despite being close to PRMC. One also may have to take into account the status of the closest hospital as well; whether or not they can a certain patient or patients. Most medevacs are for trauma victims of auto accidents; likewise volunteer and career fire/EMS personnel are trained in the use of the MSP Aviation Section.
Finally, MSP Aviation does not bill for its services. It receives funding from MVA vehicle registration fees.

I do think the pole will be replaced with insurance money, if he had insurance. He will now be considered a huge risk liability, get canceled and likely will only be able to get insurance through the state and that will cost him an arm and a leg that he managed to keep even after an accident like that.
This is America, as stupid as it was (what he did), until he is convicted he is innocent. He should be entitled to any rescue care he needs.
I don't think the EMS ask people if they have insurance before they try to save a life. Kudos to all that serve the citizens with dignity.

So majority of the time it is senseless (sp?) to call for one because by the time they arrive onscene they could be packaged and on route to PRMC. However, in this instance the sheriff's deputy requested through their dispatch center for the helicopter, this according to what was heard on the sheriff's dept frequency. The deputy first impression was that the occupant (driver) was deceased on at the very least seriously injured.

In cases were people are criticaly injured in accidents emergency responders can call for a life flight from Maryland State Police Avation. usually they are air lifted to the closest shock trama center, which in the Eastern Shore's case would be John's Hopkins. Apparently which ever emergency responder requested Trooper-4 regardless of medical training must have felt the incident was critical enough to request them for stand by incase the subject needed to be flown to shock trama.
I.E. look at the pictures again and tell me if you just pulled up on this scene would you want to start the helicopter in your direction? Take note that you can always cancle a resource but if you as an I.C. never requested it then the responce time will take longer that if you has already started them in critical incidents. Sometimes the MSP Avation has to respond from accross the bay due to local assets being already in use.

Some very good points here, but when did they start teaching future officers in the police academy when to call for a helocopter???? Especially if it appeared the occupant was deceased????

No DUMB ASS Ed, the MSP doesn't charge for for the medivac. It is funded through EMSOF through your vehicle registration. The taxes you pay, if any, wouldn't pay for milimeter of fuel to run it. MORON!!
Why waste tax money or time when the injured person is stupid and has run from the police, robbed somebody, etc. In summary forget excessive helping lawbreakers. The lessons learned will be a deterrent to others that might consider breaking the law.Criminals think they always have a chance to be successful and even a failure may reap minimum punishment with a good lawyer. The best lessons are learned the hard way. I read the paper and watch the news to know that crime and violating laws is increasing too much.It's got to stop.

The man's name is definitely not "DUMBASS" or "Idiot." His name is Justin, and he has a daughter named Jayla. She was just brought into this world. He has no other "blood" family of his own. We, my family and I, took him in. He became our family, and to see the judgemental comments some of you have left outraged all of us. He is a good man who tried to make it legit, but the struggle was too much. He had to support his girlfriend(my cousin), his daughter, and his girlfriend's son.
Is it wrong that a man felt that he had more money selling drugs, rather than when he tried to be legit? And, all you can say is "There were drugs taken off the streets," when at most a pound was removed. What about the other hundred's of pounds? This "drug seizure" wasn't even a dent to the drug problems.
We thank the decent people who didn't pass such foul judgement on him. He is a good, honest, intelligent man who is fighting for his life on some hospital bed in Baltimore. For you others (including the author of this heinous article), I do not wish evil upon you... All I ask is, where will you be when your spouse, mother, father, son or daughter are laying on a hospital bed in some hospital; fighting for his or her life? Where will you be standing? How will you feel when someone calls them an idiot because they forgot to take their medicine or something else they did wrong?

Let's see here...he was carrying a large amount of drugs (2 ounces of powder cocaine and 7 1/2 ounces of Marijuana with digital scales and baggies and over 1300 cash with no job to speak of), he runs from the cops at a rediculously high speed risking oncoming GOOD, HONEST people's lives and you, the family, are saying he's a "good, honest man"?? "Worked and struggled"? Did not realize that being a drug dealer was such a hard job?! And oh yeah, learn how to spell! Your cousin could have worked an honest job just like the rest of us however he joined the other trash that sells this garbage and further ruins peoples lives. I too would like to comment for justin. His soon to be wife is my best friend. I've seen the good in this man first hand. I've seen very few people in my life to love so strongly. To want to be loved so much. He lost his dad very early in his life. His dad was the one person to truely care if he lived of died as a child. Do you have any idea what its like to live your childhood wondering if anyone would miss you if you were to die tomorrow. He may have had many issues that stem from his childhood but who doesn't have issues. Its people like you that make it impossible to get ahead when you've made mistakes. Its hard to get a good job when you are judged from the start because of mistakes in your past. I know for a fact that he was trying to save money to take classes at wor-wic so he could have a job his daughter would be proud of. He was also looking to seek help from a professional for his problems that stem from his childhood and losing his dad. But guess what they cost money too. I knew him and heard his side you haven't. I also know this was the VERY LAST THING he wanted to be doing. He came very close to losing his cousin who he loves as a brother and changed his life completely. But with the thought of his daughter comming home with not a crib to sleep in he felt he had to do something And since you no NOTHING about justin he did have a job up until two days before the accident but it wasn't enough to make ends meet. No that doesn't make it ok or legal to sell drugs but this country doesn't offer much help when you try to do things the right way.they couldn't get assitance from the state because he was working and "making to much money for assistance" according to the state. I have been in that same situation before myself. You have to be unemployeed or make next to nothing before they are willing to help. He wasn't driving around a tahoe "rimmed out". He didnt have new shoes for every outfit. He didn't have big screened tv's and high tech phones or even the internet. They lived with just enough to get by. Not everyone who breaks a law is a bad person. I am sure you have had a drink before legal age or went through a light as it turned red or maybe you have experimented with drugs before and if not you then someone in your family. Maybe you have even had a family member in a similar situation that could have gotten back on top with a little help. Maybe you are so quick to judge because you have had mommy, daddy, or grandma, etc. to help you when money was tight or to put you through college so you could have your "good job" or even as simple as pushing or leading you in the right direction when all hope seemed lost. But this man had no one to go to for help. If you haven't had to then maybe your the one who has the ability to lend that helping hand to someone, anyone. I do belive that there are people in this world who need to be locked in a cage somewhere away from society for example rapist, child molesters, murderers, robbers, violent offenders, etc. but this man deserves another chance at life. God sure thinks so or he would have ended it there on jersey Rd you saw the pictures. He wasn't taking things that didn't belong to him. He sure wasn't hurting any of you. Hey best friend, that coke he was carrying as ruined a many of lives and has taken away a many of mommy & daddies. I am a single mother, struggling myself, don't get state assistance and don't feel the need to deal addictive drugs, that take away, sons, daughters, mother, fathers, sister, brothers, aunts, uncle, and best friends. When Justin wakes, i hope he realizes just what God has given him.
I have resisted posting anything to this blog as to most of the comments are either filled with hate or are not factual about Justin. Justin and his entire blood and step family have been in my life since 1990..longer than anyone else posting to be "his family". Justin does have blood family, brothers and a sister who are in his life. He also has a step-mother who has been at his bedside since this accident, when I spoke to her the other day she is devestated as to what has happened and the entire situation surrounding the accident. I was with this family during the tragic loss of Justin's father and all the events that followed over the years. With this being said, Justin was raised with morals, values and love. He was given many opportunities to learn trades and have an education,but was not always good at making good choices. Justin was a follower and not a leader and that unfortunately has lead him down the wrong path many times. Justin has a good heart. Justin loves big. He just made a bad choice may be costing himself his life, be it now or in jail. This has left his family with a broken heart. I will pray for his recovery so his daughter will not feel the pain that Justin and his other siblings felt losing their Dad so young. With all this being said I would also like to say I hope this tragedy will be a turning point for any of Justin's friends who are following the same path or anyone who reads this that may be involved in any such activites. Life is precious- remember that. I will pray for Justin and his family- all his family: blood-step-extended. I will especially pray for his daughter.

Now, for my opinion: I think that the moment you decide to run from the police, you should never have a license again. And if they tell you to stop, freeze, put your hands up.. or anything else.. if you don't, you should lose *all* of your legal rights.
I get so sick of hearing the excuses about *why* people run, etc.. if you're not breaking the law, f'ing do what they say.
If you chose not to, and end up upside down in the field... serves you right. Evolution at work.
