A serious personal injury collision just happened at Mt Hermon and Wango Road. The road will be closed at least one to two hours!
The Tractor & Trailer crashed into the Pocomoke River. More to come.....

The Pocomoke River is nowhere near Mt. Hermon and Wango Rds. In fact, it's a few miles east.

It was just a tax ditch that the truck crashed into, I believe, not the Pocomoke.
anon 4:58. Wango was the closest cross street and that branch of the pocomoke river is less than one mile west of the accident. If it is not the pocomoke than why do they have a sign there.
This guy was seriously injured and the fire guys tell me that the State Troopers could not figure out why he drove off of the road. From your picture Joe he looks lucky to be alive.
Powellville should have called SBY for their Fire Boat, oh thats right it probably wouldn't stay afloat in this shallow river either.
They had a boat there, not needed so it was never brought out.
Far to many drivers have heart attacks while driving, this could have been the situation with this driver.
Poor circulation is prevalent in most drivers. Brought on by the lack of exercise due to time constraints put on drivers. I once had a company tell me I had to get to Covington, KY in 8 hours, from Salisbury. Ain't gonna happen, don't care if you have 4 drivers on a truck. The pressure is unbelieveable to get a load to its destination in short order only to arrive and have to wait 2 to 12 hours to be unloaded, if not longer. No one wants to pay the driver or the truck for sitting still. If you don't ride, you don't earn any money. It has always been a lose - lose situation for truckers. Doesn't matter if you are local, regional or a long hauler. I always had the attitude that I hauled nothing vital to life and I would get the freight there as quickly as safely possible. If the broker or owner didn't like it, they had options, haul it themselves or find someone else to do it. I've never been pulled off of a load right up to the day I decided I was through.
I personally know of 2 local men, drove all their lives, died in their trucks. Heart attacks. God rest the souls of Ota Stevenson and Ray Carleton.
The Pocomoke river is at the county line on RT 50. Actually that far up I think on the map it says Pocomoke ditch. A friend of mine and myself went up there in a canoe looking for Indian arrowheads and we bottomed out in a flat bed canoe, not very deep there.
10:56 Tim is right on. The Pocomoke River is the dividing line between Wicomico and Worcester counties and lies about 2 mile EAST of Powellville.
