This is great another big drug bust, less drugs going out there to our kids. So Joe I think you need to put the facts out there about collective bargaining, I keep hearing from people who don't know anything about it that the deputies just want more pay. Which to my understanding is not the case, I understand to be that if one of these deputies get hurt and for some reason become disabled that they only get about $500 a month to pay their bills, they only get their health insurance for two years and if they find a job that they can do they lose the health benefits and the $500 a month. So they are going to go out there and maybe take a bullet for me or someone I know and it will cost them pain for the rest of their life just to save mine. I think these men and women deserve something better than that, they already have pay parity, they are just asking for better disability benefits. So Joe can you get some info for us and let some of these other "know it all's" what collective bargaining is really meant for.
Hell, they're over paid and under worked as it is now. How many of you get paid for sitting around Ihop drinking coffee half your work shift?
Anon 12:38, what the hell is your problem. This group of Deputies t are working their tail off. This is the best group assembled since R.Hunter and his flunky left. There getting a decent wage in comparison to the median household income: oh I forgot any day, any place, any time they may be killed or seriously injured and for what? To do a job that they want to do not to get a paycheck. Thats right there are people out there that want to help and protect us when people like you would not, could not and definetly would not even consider it for the wage and benefits they get. I'd like to see you do this job for one night, be away from your family in the middle of the night, in the cold, rain, sleet or snow it does not matter they are going to be there for us. Oh and let me address the most important response to your idiotic comment. Police officers don't need to eat, sleep or go to the bathroom, the next time that you call them they will be there within a few minutes after they drop out of there holding locker like robots. Everyone needs to eat and places like IHOP and Denny's are the only ones open all night so they can get a leat a warm meal. No I am not a Deputy but I am in Law Enforcement and I feel very comfortable knowing when I do get to sleep at night that Mike Lewis and his Deputies are out there protecting me and my family. Here is a challenge to you, why don't you post your real name and address so the local law enforcemnt can talk to you in person about your concerns. I think not because you are a coward with an anonymous keyboard.

Nelems' hat nothing has changed deputies are still being charged/harass with the same bullshit that happened under nelems yes the deputies got new equipment but are still getting treated like shit by the sheriff and his flunkeys Sherill lewis said he would take care of the deputies but has failed big tim just ask around

I have heard the moral at the sheriffs office is down as of lately. It is the same old people running that place, you haven't heard Mike Lewis replacing any of those H.Nelms "flunkies" as they have been called. Mike is letting them do their jobs more than Hunter ever did, but it's the same old "yes" men running that place. He promised those deputies things would change and they did for a while but now they are the same way they were before Mike came along. Mike is a great guy but everyone knows you are only as good as the people you surround yourself with and some of these folks I wouldn't let guard my outhouse. Some haven't served over six months on the road and they get to tell others how to do their job, thought you had to work for the positions they got, obviously not. Mike has good people there but most are working the road and getting treated like shit. I hope Mike Lewis comes to his senses about things over there, but of course the deputies can't say anything about being unhappy for fear they will be penalized for it. I hear they have promotional testing coming up soon and the sheriffs office it's self is giving the test and checking the exams? Thought that needed to be done by outside source for things like that, they could promote whoever they wanted to and no one would know the difference and god forbid they ask how someone got a promotion over them. Things need to change over there it seems to me.
1237 you are correct but lets not forget Sheriff Lewis is letting this happen and is ordering most of this bullshit to happen ext uncalled inter investigations against deputies before any investigation Sheriff Lewis is in charge lets not blame others. there are those in his office he gives all credit to that talk about him behind his back someday he will found out but many deputies are in fear of comming out with this info to sheriff lewis due to his past history of turning it around on the deputy he can't be trusted just like nelems nothing is better at all sheriff lewis has forgeten who stood up for him he has let many down he talks out of both corners of his mouth
Sheriff Lewis is the one responsible for this mess that is going on over there. He knew the problems with these people when he was elected to office, so it just goes to show you that he was just acting as a politician. These deputies are building up his name by making all these drug busts and everything. I really did like Mike Lewis and I also voted for him because anyone who talked to a deputy could see how miserable they were when Nelms was in office so I didn't vote for anyone associated with the Nelms era. Plus Mike Lewis was the best choice there was, but now I feel bad for voting for him because these guys thought some relief was coming in the form of Mike Lewis and it was that way for a few months now it is all back the way it was.
430 well said i also voted for sheriff lewis (NOT AGAIN) he will always be a TPR. and does not care about the deputies or their retirement (HE HAS HIS) he is a politican he is elected not appt. why does he not give a press release showing his surport for collective bargaining and speak out against what the county has done alot of deputies are very unhappy with him why does he let the same stuff he spoke against when running for office still happen he has control now!!! HE IS WORSE THAN NELEM'S EVER WAS
Seems like nobody can please deputies. If you give the little cry babies all they want now they still would be pissing about how hard their job is. A real days work and glass of cold water is more than most of those babies could stand.
