One Year Ago Today

On weekends when no one is in the GOB, this is what you'll find and see. A Skate Park has been a major topic in Salisbury for years, yet it always finds its way into a trash can or through a shredding machine.

One can only hope they'll leave these kids, (being kids) alone and allow them to enjoy the landscape the have throughout the Downtown area to enjoy until they do something exciting for once for young kids and young adults. After last nights meeting on crime, a Skate Park is very much needed!

Not for nothing but those are two very good pictures.

The kids need something to do around here. The Feldmans building, gutted, could be turned into an excellent skatepark. It would also help to draw business to the downtown.

Two wagers:

1-If a skate board facility is built it will soon be closed as was the one built by the Civic Ctr some years ago.
2-Should a skateboarder being allowed to skateboard on county/city property be injured who do you think will be sued. There are significant civil issues for allowing such activities without government oversite.

Lastly, why in God's name does government feel responsible to entertain every child who's birth people refuse to take responsibility for!

Yes, they are good pictures, but I noticed none of the boys wear helmets. Shouldn't that be a mandatory part of skate boarding? These youngsters would always come to the loading dock and do there tricks there at the library, until I would see them and stop it. I still think moving the zoo and making that a skate park and other fun things for children would be well worth the effort.

If people would stop looking for a get rich quick scheme and take responsibility for themselves as well as their children you wouldn't be so worried about lawsuits. The only one that gets rich in a lawsuit are the lawyers.

We didn't wear helmets, knee and elbow pads and all the streets weren't paved when we were riding bikes, falling out of trees, skinning knees and elbows. A few kids get off the computer and video games and find something to do outdoors and all you can think of is suing someone. Get a grip.

I agree with everything you said, however things are not,at all, like they were back in the day.
One,there were far fewer lawyers and those that practiced back them seemed to be able to make a living without suing. Now if you notice far too many of our legislatures are lawyers and doing what lawyers do best they insure that laws passed favor the lawyers position.
Today there are Moms and Dads and birth people. Mom and Dads do their very best to raise their kids, birth people expect you and I to raise their kids and when we don't we are held responsible by the above mentioned lawyers. Now you ask yourself how does that happen. Well it goes like this some (far to many) ambulance chasers are waiting in line to solicit the birth people to let them sue you and I on their behalf.
Now, we can build all the skate board parks, etc.,etc.,but it will not change a damn thing.
So whats the answer, well given all that is wrong with this country today I am ,not at all, sure it can be fixed. Guess we just look back in history and try to determine how much time we have left before it goes to hell in a hand basket.
Oh! by the way Joe the photo's were good the subject matter not so good. Somebody is going to get sued!

Anon 1:24 as much as it displeases me to do so, I will have to agree, with a heavy sigh.

a skate park will not reduce crime & gang activities.

There is a place on the corner of beaglin park and 50, its called the fuel, it open almost every friday. Both my kids go every friday night and its a very popular spot. they can skate indoors, they have a basketball court, live bands, and although I am not one to push religion on people, our kids could all use some and they have a prayer session. My kids love it! Its well supervised and they dont put up with the kids BS! You mess up and they will kick you out!

The kids need something to do daily, but parents need to step up to the plate and entertain their kids a little more themselves!
