The Tilghman Times Is Forced To Publish SPD Press Releases

Salisbury News, (ME) has been posting the Salisbury Police Department Press Releases for quite some time now and I had always wondered why the Tilghman Times hadn't been doing so for many years past? Before I found a way to access this information, The Tilghman Times always had access to it, yet they never produced it unless it was front page news.

I had heard Chief Webster state that they always sent their Press Releases to The Tilghman Times but they never chose to print them. Nevertheless, all of a sudden The Tilghman Times is now producing these releases and the community is now reading some, (NOT ALL) of them as they pick and choose what they'll print.

Maybe there's a certain standard Newspapers agree to put out there in the hopes of not letting too many people know just how bad things are in their communities? Nevertheless, the pressure is on and they finally started to fold and you are starting to become better informed as to what's truly going on in Salisbury.

I personally feel the SPD is doing a pretty damn good job and knowing they are partnering up with the WCSO makes perfect sense. They are ALL in the business to fight crime and Salisbury is in Wicomico County. With any luck criminals will start to learn Salisbury isn't as easy a target as they have enjoyed in the past.

Now if the SPD could only keep up on these Press Releases and produce them every other day, instead of once a week or up to 9 days at a time, that would be nice.

I don't like the fact the press releases are for petty shoplifting cases and such. Especially when, on the same day there are CDS, robbery, and handgun arrests being made. Yes it makes the citizens all warm and tingly inside hidng the fact of the real crime that's going on. But, it also makes SPD look bad for not making the big arrests, which everyone inside SPD and surrounding agencies know are being made.

Joe, what are you worried about. Those calls dont tell you anything. Go to www.princessannepolice.com and look at what they post. It is a brief description of worthy calls for service. They dont post "Field Interview" What the heck is that suppose to mean, someone was looking for a job in hte field, ROTFLMAO!

Does the Wicomico Sheriff's Dept put out a press release daily?

Yes, the WCSO pretty much puts them out daily.

Really? I don't see them posted daily on their website actually I haven't seen any on their website...or even on here. Seems like whenever they have a big arrest they post a press release. They should get someone to update their website, SPD's website is pretty nice.

First of all Mr. Stir The Pot,

The WCSO is working on a beter Website. Secondly, is the SPD Site better than their? I doubt the WCSO would deny the SPD Site is much better at this time.

As for the Press Releases, WTF do you know? I get them every day, many of which I do not feel worthy of attention. Hell, I used to get 10 a day because they used to put out every warrant they served as well. I expressed this wasn't news worthy and they agreed, unless it was something special.

So stir the crap all you want, you're sounding like am immature little girl. The point is, the DT never put up SPD info and now that I've been doing it they're following my lead. That's a GREAT thing, period.
