We recently had to report on the Tattler about a former Pocomoke City PD Officer while a Worcester County Sherrif having sex with a 16-year old... but he resigned instead of having to face the music.

it was 500,000 so someone posted 50,000 for him...
it was reduced to 150k and he only had to post 15k with a bondsman.
Is he under the protection of the law enforcement officials? I would hate to think he was running loose, and someone decided to take justice into their own hands, that would be VERY wrong. Let him face the music in a court of law and then do time with the general inmate population, justice will be served.
Somthing IS broken...but it is broken everywhere from Priests, Rabbi's , Lawyers and Docters...and certainly police are human as well. If he is guilty, as the evidence seems to support...Hang him. Until then be easy on quick generalizations.

SALISBURY -- The Wicomico County Sheriff's Office deputy accused of sexually molesting two young girls has been charged with seven felonies and could face 45 years in prison.
Deputy 1st Class Charles McMichael, 35, of Salisbury allegedly fondled two 10-year-old girls this past summer while they were inside his house, according to charging documents. He knew both of the victims.
McMichael was charged with seven felony charges of sexual abuse and child abuse. The most serious is one charge of sexual abuse of a minor with continued course of conduct, which carries a 30-year prison sentence.
McMichael, who has been suspended by the Sheriff's Office without pay, was being held on $150,000 bond at the Wicomico County Detention Center.
Law enforcement acted swiftly to detain McMichael after allegations first surfaced Thursday.
Lewis said a cooperative effort between the Maryland State Police Homicide Unit and the Wicomico County Child Advocacy Center compiled "clearly sufficient evidence" in less than 24 hours.
Police interviewed both of the victims before making the arrest, the report said.
According to charging documents, McMichael allegedly began abusing one of the victims when she was 6. He sexually abused her at least three times in separate incidents during a one-year span, the charging documents said.
A preliminary hearing for McMichael will likely be held this month, Vincent said.

i dont think the victims have anything to be scared of, he wasnt an attacker per se, what he did was wrong, but i think they will be safe with their families...just as long as he isnt around..
children don't know the difference between an attacker and a molester. You damn well better believe they will be afraid! Because of this incident, these victims will not trust anybody that actually care for them. These events will affect them for the rest of their lives and hopefully will do well with a good counselor to help them through it. I don't think that McMichael would harm them any further at this point, but he has caused them permanent damage and is a threat to ANY child left alone with him. I can't wait to see him on the Sex Offender's website. Bastard...
To the poster who stated that 16 is the age of consent in Maryland, it may be the age of consent, but an officer of the law is looked upon as a trust worthy person, who one can come to in a time of need. I also know that this girl was not 16 when he won her trust, he waited till she was 16 before he did the deed to cover his ass. He resigned instead of having to face a lie detector test. So the facts are straight, it's the abominable behavior of a figure of trust that aint straignt!
I'd rather see his balls on a chopping block than his picture on the sex offender list. Guess I'll just have to settle for the list.

As far as McMichael being released on a lesser bail... thats got nothing to do with the Sheriff's Office or any law enforcement agency.
Bail hearings are conducted by a judge in district court usually, which is a totally different branch of the government then the executive branch. It was the judges decision to grant or lower the bail amount, soley the judges decision. Frankly they should have kept at at $500,000.00 or increased it to a million.
Can someone explain why the Homicide Unit was involved. I'm a little confused about that. I'm not an expert in criminal proceedure. Thanks for the help, guys.

Why does it matter what age the child is?
The Homicide Unit was involved due to the fact that the State doesn't have a child investigations unit itself, and the fact that the investigator who filed the charges used to work for the CAC and is now with the Homicide unit. He has experience in investigating child sex crimes. It was the most logical choice, using an outside agency and not the CAC or anyone involved with the S.O./CAC (i.e. S.O. CAC investigators).
I agree that the bail should not have been lowered. I don't think that he'd go and hurt anyone else, although I feel he's a predator in a sense, but I think at this point he'd rather hurt himself. Hopefully that won't happen either cause that'd just further lay on these child victims minds, that his death was caused by them. Most likely they already feel guilty enough (which is normal, although they shouldn't).
It matters the age of his child when he has a GIRL stepchild living in his own home, and what he's accused of!

Don't forget he is someone's son, brother, husband and father. I think his family had been put through enough shock and humiliation so far and God knows there will be much more before it is over. Ya know...NO one knows the truth except the girls and Deputy McMichael. How do you know that he confessed? How do you know that the children are not lying? How do you know that one of the victims was his stepduagher? Don't forget justice is blind for a reason!
Dont forget that he is someone's son, brother, father and husband. There is already enough shock and humiliation on his family. The only people that know the truth are deputy McMichael and the children. How does anyone know that he did it? How does anyone know that the children did not fabricate this story? Who know that he confess? Who know that one of the victims was his stepdaughter? NO ONE except the parties involved. Justice is blind for a reason. He has not been tried yet. I am very sad for all that is going on with the McMichael family. I have known Chuck and his family for many years & am very upset for all of them. I am not going to pass judgement on anyway....one because I don't know all the facts and two because it's not for me to pass judgement on! I will be keeping the ENTIRE McMichael family, the 2 girls, Libby, and Chuck in my prayers. I know that none of your lives will ever be the same, but I do hope you know that there are people who love you unconditionally and even if these horrific acts were done and justice must be served I will always be praying for all of you and your wellbeing!
He was indicted by the Grand Jury on 12-17 and re-arrested but his bail was posted AGAIN!!!

Chuck has been a wonderful friend to me for several years and I can NOT believe he would EVER harm a child he loved Libby and the kids with all of his heart and was so proud when they had their lil girl a few years ago. My thoughts and prayers are with you Chuck, Libby and kids. I honestly don't believe he is capable of doing anything this horrid or gross, if I'm wrong, let justice be served his kids will loose a father I will have lost a friend and Chuck will most likely loose his life.
