Bill Reddish, (WICO) Hushed Up

The word on the street is that Bill Reddish, the 1320 AM Announcer has been allegedly hushed up.

The normally outspoken Reddish has calmed down ever since Mayor Barrie Tilghman and Council President Louise Smith went after him through his Bosses up North.

Word is, Bill lost his nerve and now hosts a pampered easy going Show with nothing controversial any more. As many controversial projects in the works, Bill has plenty of material to use but like I said, word has it he's no scared of his own shadow, or his Bosses are.

I listened this morning and all I could think was, YAWN! They should name it the Bill & Billy Show and invite Billy Duvall to join him every morning. Every piece of news comes from everyone else, not from WICO. Bill should do like Billy does and say, go HERE to the Daily Times for this news. Go HERE to get news from WMDT.

All I can tell you is, I would quit my job if I couldn't be me. Bill Reddish is no longer Bill Reddish. They have the show called the Pampered Chef. We've got the Pampered Reddish. Better grow a pair real soon Bill or you're going to flop. Think about it this weekend and hopefully you'll come back on Monday not acting like a scared Pansy.

UPDATE: Yeah, Bill's Show sucks! Hell, John Robinson was more exciting than listening to Reddish interview someone from "The National Christian Choir" singing Oh Holy Night. Wooo Hooooo, Weeee Hooooo! WICO flat out sucks any more. By the way, I'm NOT at all suggesting this Choir isn't fantastic. My point is that the image I'm seeing in my mind any more of Bill Reddish is now more like Richard Simmons instead.

Hard to believe that Bill Reddish has been bought by the Tilghman reigme-say it ain't so!

I don't this is the case at all. For those of you who know anything about Reddish's schedule, the man has a hard time getting to go on vacation. There's just no one there to back him up so he can take timely vacations.

One way of dealing with the burnout politics gives you is to "lighten up." Reddish was still doing hot topics for a good while after the Tilghman-Smith vendetta, so I doubt he or management backed down.

He's also had more on relative to the state and national scene due to campaigns under way. And he might want to give his listeners a break from all the City Trauma Drama as well.

Geez, Joe, if you really want other good bloggers and other good media to hang in there on this stuff, stop wiping the floor with them every time they have down periods. You have them, too, even with your stamina, money and available time.

Variety is the spice of life. Not everyone is going to think like you, act like you, move at your pace, etc.

Reddish has had laid back periods before, taken time off, then come back with gusto. I doubt this is any different.

A Professional Football Player doesn't walk into a game while it's snowing and say, you know what, I'm sick of the snow, I'm NOT playing!

Bill Reddish and the Management at WICO won't play in the snow!

It's that simple. Use all the excuses you want, Barrie Tilghman has proven to take control of WICO, just like all the other media sources around Salisbury and you people folded, period.

Therefore, I will no longer listen to some pansy ass radio show where a grown man is afraid of his own shadow, it's that simple.

Paid Professionals do whatever it takes to get their job done. WICO borrows news from The Daily Times and other TV Stations and now they have a pampered local news propaganda show. Hell, PAC14 can do a better job than Bill Reddish any more, seriously.

Salisbury isn't the kind of place where a Howard Stern would work.

I will reserve judgement until we get ready for the next elections and I bet he holds his ground.

We are lucky the he does think like we do, having sponcers is a must or nobody would get paid.

If for now what he is doing is pleasing his advertizers I can wait until the next election where I hope he continues the tough interviews. Beating a dead horse right now wouldn't be in his best interest.

Like Tim Said, they rely on sponsors to get the bills paid. If you had to rely on sponsors for your website to get the bills paid, you'd be out of business in a week. The shock style media, much like you portray here, would never work in this area.

Like it or not, that's the way it is on the Shore.

We'll see about that. How about Rush? How about Stern? How about the Grease Man? I can go on and on. They get sponsors BECAUSE PEOPLE LISTEN!

Bill Reddish is losing his listeners, just like Robinson did. Hell, actually, Robinson never really had any.

Nevertheless, I disagree with you. Reddish is scared of his own shadow any more and I can't wait 2 years for the man to come around every time there are elections. I simply turned him off for good. He's like Duvall. Every so often, once in a blue moon, he comes up with something good. In the mean time he has crap on his show. That's the reality of it, just like Duvall. The Bill & Billy Show!

I didn't say that Shock Journalism doesn't work. It just won't work in this area. Comparing yourself or even Reddish to the Grease, Stern or Rush is like comparing apples to carrots. They're not even in the same food group. Unless Delmarva Broadcasting really doesn't care about making any money (I don't think that's the case) you're just not going to get the in your face radio style that you present here on your blog. It's making money. You know all about that don't you?!?!? LOL
