Anthem Of The Brave This Weekend
For years, we have felt that Delmarva (Delaware, Maryland, & Virginia) has needed an opportunity to come together and support our veterans. This opportunity not only will provide a benefit to The Fisher House, a veteran’s charity, but also raise awareness for and honor our veterans. In 2017, we are presenting Anthem of the Brave which will be a choral tribute of patriotic and Christian choir music selections sung by a corporate community choir made up of several individuals from all over Delmarva. Performance dates are May 19 & 20 at 7pm and May 21 at 2:30pm.
We are very excited to have Alice Wigfield directing the community choir. Alice has not only taught voice and music professionally, but for many years, has been the choral director for the MAGI Fund Concert which benefits the homeless charities in our area. Alice’s expertise in voice and directing has transformed choir songs to passionate and professional choral presentations. [READ MORE ABOUT ALICE]
Norm Smith, who carries a vast amount of expertise in orchestra and band, is putting together our orchestra; we are very excited for all our musicians that are joining in on the Anthem Project.
Power Productions has always been a drama ministry first and foremost, so we wanted to incorporate drama into the choral production. For this, we will house a mini-play movie that will be broken up by scenes and presented throughout the night interspersed among the choir selections. Anthem is a passionate and heartfelt event for which you will definitely want to be involved.

Run to Remember Memorial Day 5K coming up May 27
SALISBURY, Md. – This Memorial Day weekend, run in honor of the men and women who served our country and didn’t make it home. The Run to Remember Memorial Day 5K is coming up Saturday, May 27, and registration is open now.
The 5K begins at 9 a.m. that day at a new location – WinterPlace Park, at 6737 Blue Ribbon Road in Salisbury. Check-in and race-day registration begin at 8 a.m., and walkers and leashed pets are also welcome.
The race benefits the Wicomico War Veterans’ Memorial at the Wicomico Youth & Civic Center.
The cost is $25 in advance or $30 on race day. For military who register in person with ID, the cost is $20. The top male and female finishers in five age groups will receive awards.
The annual Memorial Day Ceremony will be held two days after the 5K, at 10 a.m. Monday, May 29, at the Wicomico War Veterans’ Memorial. If it rains, the ceremony will be held in the Midway Room of the Civic Center.

‘DREAMER’ WHO KILLED TWO LITTLE GIRLS WILL NOT BE DEPORTED
There was insufficient evidence to establish beyond a reasonable doubt that Cinthya Garcia-Cisneros knew or had reason to know she injured stepsisters Anna Dieter-Eckerdt, 6, and Abigail Robinson, 11, according to the ruling Wednesday.
Authorities said the girls were likely lying in a large mound of leaves on the street in October 2013 and not visible to Garcia-Cisneros when her SUV passed through about a block away from her home.
The Appeals Court said Oregon law doesn’t require a driver to return to the scene of an accident after leaving and later learning that someone else was injured or killed.

Weekly Fishing Report
Let the sun shine and warm the landscape and waters of Maryland this week. After several days of rain, cold temperatures and a root’n toot’n northeaster, I think we’re all ready for some dryer and warmer weather. The rain does bring out the green in everything, and this is a marvelous time of the year to be outdoors. A whole new opportunity has opened up for those who fish for striped bass in the Chesapeake as the minimum size has dropped down to 20 inches. The water clarity in the middle and lower bay is amazing right now, so get out there and enjoy the outdoors; they’re out there waiting for you.Before we jump in, here is a quick reminder that Maryland will once again be having free fishing days in June and July, providing a unique opportunity to fish the state’s waters without obtaining a fishing license, stamp or registration.
The floodgates at the Conowingo Dam closed this past Sunday for the first time in more than a week, which is good news for fishermen and the bay. The waters of the lower Susquehanna and the very upper portions of the bay will have stained water for a while, as well as floating debris, but will clear up in time. Presently the lower Susquehanna River is loaded with white perch. Now that the river has calmed down, there is excellent fishing to be found. There are still a few hickory shad being caught and released at the mouth of Deer Creek, but there is a lot of white perch eager to take shad darts. Lower flows in the river will also mean better fishing for flathead and channel catfish, and there could very well still be some American shad near the dam pool.

Here are five things to know about Manning's release.
1. The crime.
In January 2010, Bradley Manning downloaded the 400,000 documents which later would become known as the Iraq War logs, along with the 91,000 documents known as the Afghan War logs. He smuggled the data through on a CD labeled "Lady Gaga." After being turned down by The Washington Post and The New York Times, Manning sent the information to WikiLeaks in early February.
Beginning in February, WikiLeaks publicized the documents Manning sent, causing an uproar and giving the outlet the notoriety to push more classified information into the public eye. Manning was caught after contacting Adrian Lamo, a former hacker convicted in 2004. Lamo reported Manning to the authorities, and the leaker was arrested in late May 2010.

Police Investigating Crimes Involving ‘Reckless, Out Of Control’ Juveniles
After announcing their investigation into these cases, police said they were able to take four suspects into custody, but are still searching for additional suspects.
Police say these crimes occurred on Sunday, May 14, and Tuesday, May 16, both on Springlake Way.
Handguns were used in both cases, according to police, and the victims in both incidents were physically unharmed.

The Latest Sad, Pathetic Trend Is 'Sologamy,' Where People Marry Themselves
However, now there's something happening that is described as a growing trend that tops them all. It seems that an increasing number of people are marrying themselves.
“I would describe it as women saying yes to themselves,” [Erika] Anderson said. “It means that we are enough, even if we are not partnered with someone else."
In many ways, the 37-year-old bride looked like any other on her wedding day. She wore a white dress and had a bouquet. Anderson looked stunning with the Brooklyn bridge and New York City skyline behind her.
Except when she walked down the aisle, no one was waiting for her. That’s just the way she wanted it.
Anderson said she grew tired of people asking why she was still single. So, in front of family and friends she married herself.
Self-marriage—or sologamy—is growing. Partly because it’s popping up in pop culture, like when an episode of ‘Sex and the City’ floated the idea.
Of course, this idea will only last as long as it takes for the individual to meet someone special. Anderson admits as much, saying she's open to dating and marriage with someone else.

Md. officer convicted in assault of suspect
WASHINGTON — A Prince George’s County police officer has been convicted of assault after he hit a suspect with his police cruiser.
Dashcam video showed Officer Juan Hernandez, an 11-year veteran of the force, chasing down a suspect with his police cruiser and hitting the man in Hyattsville last June.
Though the video showed the suspect — 23-year-old Ulrich Boaoutou — being thrown onto the police cruiser’s windshield by the force of the hit, prosecutors said he did not need medical attention.

Ocean City Beach Patrol Begins Guarding on May 27
Ocean City, Maryland – : The Ocean City Beach Patrol is reminding residents and visitors that the first day of patrol begins on the Saturday of Memorial Day weekend. Ocean City’s 10 miles of beautiful beach will be guarded from May 27, 2017 until Sunfest weekend, September 24.
Although beach patrol activities are taking place throughout town before Memorial Day Weekend, including the 2017 Surf Rescue Academy, the beach will not be guarded until surf rescue technicians take their stands on May 27. Until then, the patrol is working hard to gear up for the summer, with the first training academy beginning this Saturday, May 21, and the second academy beginning, Saturday June 18, 2017.
Starting May 27, the beach patrol will be on duty every day from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. At 5:25 p.m., lifeguards will begin signaling beachgoers out of the ocean. This is the OCBP’s way of letting visitors know that guards are going off duty and all water-related activities should cease until 10 a.m. the next day. “We continue our efforts to educate the public, warning them of the dangers of swimming on unguarded beaches,” said Beach Patrol Captain Butch Arbin. “We do whatever it takes to make sure people leave the ocean before we make that last turn to the west, leaving our beaches for the night.”
Although the temperatures are warming, the OCBP urges beach patrol urges visitors to stay out of the water during unguarded times. “Remember our saying,” Arbin continued. “Keep Your Feet in the Sand until the Lifeguard’s in the Stand.”

Steven Cohen, Professor of Russian studies at Princeton and NYU (an obvious Russian spy) was besides himself tonight, in sheer disbelief over the with hunt of gigantic nothing-burgers that are being used to assault the Presidency of Donald Trump.
He declared, "today, I would say (the greatest threat to national security) is this assault on President Trump. Let's be clear what he's being accused of is treason. This has never happened in America, that we had a Russian agent in the White House. Cohen believes Flynn did nothing wrong by talking to the Russian ambassador, describing it as 'his job' to do so.
He then illuminated the indelible fact that there is a 4th branch of government, the intelligence community, who have been meddling in American foreign affairs, obstructing the other 3 branches of government.
"In 2016, President Obama worked out a deal with Russian President Putin for military cooperation in Syria. He said he was gonna share intelligence with Russia, just like Trump and the Russians were supposed to do the other day. Our department of defense said it wouldn't share intelligence. And a few days later, they killed Syrian soldiers, violating the agreement, and that was the end of that. So, we can ask, who is making our foreign policy in Washington today?"
Professor Cohen added, "you and I have to ask a subversive question, are there really three branches of government, or is there a 4th branch of government? These intel services. Chris Cornell: Dead at 52
Chris Cornell, the unmistakable voice and frontman of the bands Soundgarden and Audioslave, died overnight in Detroit at the age of 52. He was discovered just past midnight at the MGM Grand Detroit, according to police.
The office of the Wayne County Medical Examiner on Thursday determined the cause of his death to be suicide by hanging, noting that a full autopsy has yet to be completed.
"His wife Vicky and family were shocked to learn of his sudden and unexpected passing, and they will be working closely with the medical examiner to determine the cause," Brian Bumbery, Cornell's representative, says in a statement. "They would like to thank his fans for their continuous love and loyalty and ask that their privacy be respected at this time."
Cornell played a seminal role in the origins of grunge music, founding Soundgarden in 1984 with Kim Thayil and Hiro Yamamoto. Together with other Seattle natives Nirvana, Pearl Jam and Alice in Chains, the band — and Cornell's voice — would go on to define a sound that cherry-picked elements of punk and metal and distorted them into a distinctive brew all their own.

2015 animal cruelty case in Md. ends with puppy siblings reunited, thriving

WASHINGTON — A particularly disturbing 2015 case of animal cruelty ended on a heartwarming note Wednesday.
James Edward Jones, 31, was sentenced to six months in jail for strangling two 6-week-old puppies on a street in Silver Spring, Maryland.
As for the puppies, they have since recovered and, years later, are thriving in their new forever homes.
Police dashcam video shows what witnesses saw that night in 2015, when a Montgomery County man appeared to strangle these puppies.

Parents Arrested After Infant Bitten Up To 100 Times By Rats
Erica Shryock, 19, and Charles Elliott, 18, were arrested Sunday when the baby was taken to the hospital and was discovered to have about 75-100 bites scattered on its body.
The baby needed to have facial reconstruction surgery due to a one-inch-wide wound down to its skull from the rodent bites. One Arkansas Children’s Hospital physician’s opinion was that the baby was probably in distress for at least hours, and the parents were either incapacitated or absent to not have responded to the baby’s suffering. Police found evidence of a rodent problem as well as blood at the home where Shryock, Elliott, the baby, and another roommate lived.

At that time, most Americans had no idea what a central bank does or what one would mean for the U.S. economy. The Federal Reserve was designed to create debt, and of course the Wall Street bankers were very excited about such a system because it would make them even wealthier. Since the Fed was created in 1913, the U.S. national debt has gotten more than 5000 times larger and the value of the U.S. dollar has declined by about 98 percent. So the Federal Reserve is doing what it was originally designed to do. In fact, it has probably worked better than the original designers ever dreamed possible.
