After one of the NBA's all-time greats made his displeasure with Donald Trump's presidential campaign known, Trump didn't hesitate in returning the message to former Milwaukee Bucks and Los Angeles Lakers legend Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. The businessman told the Hall of Famer he doesn't "have a clue what has to be done to make this country great again."
On Wednesday, a piece in the Washington Post penned by Abdul-Jabbar was clear in its criticisms of Trump, accusing the presidential hopeful of attacking journalists' First Amendment rights with his bullying style and resorting to personal attacks instead of offering substantial answers on issues such as immigration.
And later in the day, Trump apparently responded, as Abdul-Jabbar posted an image of his article to his Facebook page with what the six-time NBA champ claimed to be a message from the candidate:

Supermoon Lunar Eclipse Coming this Month
Supermoon at the end of this month expected to be 2015's closest
A rare combination of celestial events will grace the night sky later this month. NASA says a supermoon lunar eclipse will take place September 27.
A supermoon occurs when a full moon coincides with the moon’s perigree — the point in the lunar orbit when it’s closest to the Earth — making it appear larger and brighter than normal. The supermoon at the end of this month is expected to be the closest one of 2015, a year that will see sixsupermoons in all.
A lunar eclipse, meanwhile, happens when the moon passes into alignment with the Earth and sun and briefly falls into Earth’s shadow. Space.com explains that during a total lunar eclipse, the moon often turns a reddish color when it’s hit by sunlight bent by the Earth’s atmosphere, resulting in a phenomenon called a “blood moon.”
It’s extremely unusual for a supermoon and total lunar eclipse to happen at the same time, as they will at the end of this month. NASA says it has happened only five times since 1900, most recently in 1982. There won’t be another one until 2033.

Man Convicted of Murder in 1993 Is Ordered Released After Key Evidence Was Withheld
A man who had served 24 years on a murder conviction was released on Monday, after the Brooklyn district attorney admitted his office had withheld key evidence in the case against the man, Ruddy Quezada.
The conviction was vacated after a search of records, prompted by Mr. Quezada’s latest legal challenge, found that prosecutors concealed information from him as he was seeking to have his conviction reversed.
Mr. Quezada, 53, is one of several men to have a conviction vacated in State Supreme Court in Brooklyn since early 2014. The office of the district attorney, Kenneth P. Thompson, has been reviewing dozens of convictions under his long-serving predecessor, Charles J. Hynes, and defendants are also challenging old convictions in court.

Young couple makes incredible discovery in kitchen
Where to start… we moved into our fixer-upper home two years ago and we’re finally getting around to the kitchen renovation. Eddie is DIY (enough) and saving us some money. It’s cute.
During the demolition, we found this safe in the floor – the safe revealed itself when we tore down the kitchen island.

Kraft Heinz expands Kraft Singles recall
NEW YORK (AP) — Kraft Heinz is expanding a recall of Kraft Singles products, saying a problem with the packaging film affects 10 times as many cases as it first thought.
The company recalled 335,000 cases Thursday because a thin strip of packaging film may stick to the slice after the wrapper has been taken off, creating a choking hazard. Kraft Heinz recalled 36,000 cases on July 31 for the same reason.
The privately held company said it’s received two new reports of customers choking. It disclosed three such reports in July, and said it had received seven other complaints about the packaging.

Beauty Bands for Bald Babies are Bad Idea
HUNTINGTON- Dr. Yousa Kidde, a pediatric psychology professor at Marshall University Medical School, recently addressed the West Virginia Chapter of the American Psychological Association about alarming medical problems and other impairments doctors are seeing nationwide after young girls were subjected to wearing elasticized headbands as infants.
“This silly phase of putting elastic around a child’s cranium has to end. Parents need to realize how damaging this practice is, before it is too late,” Kidde said. “There is absolutely no truth that colorful headbands on infants help kids develop an esthetic sense.”
Kidde said doctors are now seeing young patients that may be scarred for life. Researchers are beginning to study whether an elastic headband is causing head trauma that can decrease the baby’s IQ. Kidde said it is hard to determine whether the headbands are to blame, since the IQs of the child’s parents cannot be that high if they are subjecting their child to this torturous fad.

10th Circuit judges shocked by own court's ruling
Five judges of the 10th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals have issued an opinion that easily could serve as advice for District Judge David Bunning, who found Rowan County, Kentucky, clerk Kim
Davis in contempt of court and jailed her Thursday for refusing to violate her faith.
Davis has refused to issue any marriage licenses from her office since the Supreme Court created the right to “same-sex marriage.”
Bunning admitted there was a conflict between Davis’ religious-exercise right and the newly created right. But he refused to consider any accommodation for her and ruled she would have to violate her faith to stay out of jail.
But the 10th Circuit judges’ dissenting opinion Thursday in another case centered on religious rights warns of the dangers of having judges “examine the reasoning behind a religious practice or belief and decide what is core and what is derivative.”

Federal Court: Illegal Immigrant And Convicted Felon Can’t Be Deported Because He’s Transgender
A federal appeals court has ruled that an illegal immigrant and convicted felon can’t be deported back to Mexico because he identifies as a transgender woman, which leaves him vulnerable to torture back in his home country.
Edin Carey Avendano-Hernandez was born male in Mexico, and claims to have been raped by his brothers and suffered other torments. In 2000, he illegally entered the U.S. and took up residence in Fresno, California. Avendano-Hernandez also started taking female hormones and began living openly as a woman in 2005. In 2006, he committed two separate drunk driving offenses, the second of which injured two people and resulted in a felony conviction. After serving a year in jail, he was deported back to Mexico in 2007.
Back in Mexico, Avendano-Hernandez claims to have been subjected to more harassment from family and neighbors and to have been raped by members of the Mexican army. He illegally entered the U.S. again and, after being arrested, petitioned for sanctuary in the U.S. under the U.N. Convention Against Torture (CAT), arguing that deporting him would violate the CAT because he would more likely than not experience torture at the hands of Mexican authorities.

Indicted Philadelphia congressman cannot suppress warrant for emails
Chaka Fattah, a Philadelphia congressman facing corruption charges, failed to persuade a federal appeals court to void a search warrant that would give investigators access to seven years of his private emails.
The 3rd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals on Wednesday dismissed Fattah's argument that executing the warrant to force Google Inc to turn over contents of his Gmail account dating back to 2008 would violate the U.S. Constitution's Speech or Debate Clause, which provides protections for members of Congress.
Circuit Judge Julio Fuentes said the three-judge appeals court panel lacked jurisdiction because the warrant has yet to be executed.
He also said Fattah, a Democrat in his 11th term, could not demonstrate that disclosing privileged emails, as opposed to using them as evidence, was unconstitutional.

The FBI Now Needs a Warrant To Use Its Phone-Sniffing Stingray Boxes
Privacy took a blow last week when the NSA got permission to keep operating a massive dragnet. Here’s some better news: As of today, federal agents should have a harder time using Stingrays to spy on cell phones.
Today, the Department of Justice issued a new policy that requires federal agencies to get a search warrant before they deploy a “cell-site simulator,” aka Stingray, in all but the most dire circumstances.
(The Stingray is just the name of one specific device, made by the Harris Corporation, which pretends to be a cell tower in order to trick nearby phones into connecting to it.)

Stonewalled Veteran Files Lawsuit Against DOD, DOJ, EPA
A veteran who previously spoke to Breitbart News about being stonewalled by the Department of Defense on his Freedom of Information Act requests has now filed a lawsuit to get information about toxic contamination at Fort McClellan, by which hundreds of thousands of veterans may have been exposed.
Raymond Pulliam – a 53-year-old veteran – had to retire in 2012 due to health issues that he thinks were caused by toxic chemicals he was exposed to during his basic training at Fort McClellan in Alabama. As Breitbart News previously reported, Pulliam “has sought information about Fort McClellan’s chemical contamination from the Department of Defense since last year, but his Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request has gone unanswered.”
According to the complaint, Pulliam, the Plaintiff, is suing the Department of Defense, the Environmental Protection Agency, and the United States Department of Justice “in failing to provide Plaintiff with all non-exempt records responsive to his FOIA requests sent to each of these federal agencies, seeking records regarding their investigation into toxic contamination at former U.S. Army base Fort McClellan.”
Pulliam’s case was filed in the United States District Court for the District of Columbia last week and was assigned to Judge Amy Berman Jackson.

Former Clinton Aide Who Helped Set Up Server To Plead Fifth
A former aide to Hillary Clinton who helped set up her private email server has told at least three congressional committees that he will invoke the Fifth Amendment to avoid testifying against his former boss, Fox News has confirmed.
Bryan Pagliano, who worked on Clinton's 2008 presidential campaign before helping install the so-called "homebrew" server system in her Chappaqua, N.Y. home, was asked to testify about the server by the House Select Committee on Benghazi, the Senate Judiciary Committee, and the Senate Homeland Security Committee.
"Mr. Pagliano’s legal counsel told the committee yesterday that he would plead the 5th to any and all questions if he were compelled to testify," a spokesperson for Judiciary Committee Chairman Sen. Charles Grassley, R-Iowa, told Fox late Wednesday.
A letter from Pagliano's attorney Mark MacDougall explaining his client's decision cited the ongoing FBI investigation into whether classified national security information was mishandled when it passed through Clinton's server.
"While we understand that Mr. Pagliano’s response to this subpoena may be controversial in the current political environment, we hope that the members of the Select Committee will respect our client’s right to invoke the protections of the Constitution," MacDougall wrote.

Nuclear deal will make war with Iran more likely, former top military officials say in report
A group of former top military officials and intelligence analysts released a new report Wednesday concluding that the nuclear deal with Iran will threaten American interests and increase the probability of military conflict in the Middle East.
In its report, the Iran Strategy Council wrote that the nuclear deal, called the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), “will enable Iran to increase support for terrorist and insurgent proxies, aggravate sectarian conflict and trigger both nuclear and conventional proliferation cascades.”
Additionally, the deal will “provide the expansionist regime in Tehran with access to resources, technology and international arms markets required to bolster offensive military capabilities in the vital Persian Gulf region, acquire long-range ballistic missiles and develop other major weapons systems,” the council wrote.
In its report, the council argued that the deal is not an alternative to war with Iran, as many of its supports have claimed, but would actually make war more likely.
