Just when one thought US foreign policy couldn't sink any deeper into the hole of its embarrassment, it takes out a shovel and starts digging. Overnight, in what AP describes as a stunning assault that exposed Iraq's eroding central authority, Al Qaida-inspired militants from ISIS, or the Islamic State of Iraq and al-Sham, overran much of Mosul on Tuesday, seizing government buildings, pushing out security forces and capturing military vehicles as thousands of residents fled the second-largest city.
For those who may have forgotten, Iraq was one of those countries "liberated" by the the United States, which unlike Afghanistan where the opium trade is still important, did pull out its troops two and a half years ago.
Ths shocking takeover of Mosul took place months after Al Qaeda-linked fighers took over another Iraqi town, Fallujah, earlier in the year and which they have successfully defended against government attempts to reclaim it.
That however, was just the appetizer: Mosul is a much bigger, more strategic prize. The city and surrounding Ninevah province, which is on the doorstep of Iraq's relatively prosperous Kurdish region, are a major export route for Iraqi oil and a gateway to Syria.

GOP Must Look Outside DC for Presidential Nominee
The American people do not like the Bush family, and a Jeb Bush presidential candidacy would not be good for the country or the Republican Party, said Richard Viguerie, chairman of ConservativeHQ.com, a website dedicated to bringing limited government and tea party candidates to power.
"When I think of Jeb Bush, I think of 'Groundhog Day,'" said Viguerie, whose book "Takeover: The 100-Year War for the Soul of the GOP and How Conservatives Can Finally Win It" was recently published.
"I mean, how many Bushes do we have to go through? The American people don't like the Bushes. They gave George H.W. Bush a landslide victory in 1988 because they thought they were voting for Ronald Reagan's third term. Sitting President George H.W. Bush got 38 percent of the vote when he ran for re-election in 1992. His son, George W. Bush, got 500k votes less than Al Gore and won by 537 votes, won by one state for re-election. I'd be very concerned if Jeb Bush were the nominee. The general rule of the American voters do not like big government."
Speaking to Newsmax TV’s "America’s Forum," Viguerie said the GOP needs to look outside Washington and to the states for the 2016 presidential nominee. He offered his thoughts on which governors might be attractive to hardline conservatives.

It seems that every time some liberal idiot sets out to disprove something, they inadvertently end up proving that their “myth” was accurate. That’s exactly what happened to Amanda Kijera, who went to Haiti to prove that the portrayal of black men in the media as savages is a myth — and was then violently raped on a rooftop by a black man.
Amanda Kijera was on a humanitarian trip to Haiti, when she was violently raped by a black man. The act was both coincidental and devastating, as Kijera was actually in Haiti to dispel the “myths” that violence against women on the island was overstated by women’s rights organizations. The intention of Kijera’s trip was to push back on the portrayal of black men as “savages” in the media. Her hope was that she would eliminate misconceptions and push back against common views imposed by “the man.” However, Kijera’s trip took a turn for the worse when one of the men she had worked to protect cornered her on the rooftop, and raped her numerous times.
“The experience was almost more than I could bear,” Kijera wrote about the incident, “I pleaded with him to honor my commitment to Haiti, to him as a brother in the mutual struggle for an end to our common oppression, but to no avail. He didn’t care.”
According to Kijera, she eventually stopped fighting him, claiming that there was nothing she could do to stop him from raping her repeatedly. After the tragic experience, she placed the blame on a very unexpected course. Women are not the source of their oppression; oppressive policies and the as-yet unaddressed white patriarchy which still dominates the global stage are,” she explained.

Nevada Democrats Select 'None Of These Candidates' In Gubernatorial Primary
Many Nevada Democrats turned up their noses Tuesday at the eight candidates battling for the right to face Gov. Brian Sandoval in November, with the "none of these candidates" option receiving the most votes.
With 80 percent of precincts reporting early Wednesday, the "none of these candidates option" had received over 20,000 votes (30 percent), putting it over 3,600 votes ahead of the man who will face Sandoval in November, former State Economic Development commissioner Robert Goodman. Goodman received 25 percent of the vote.
The only other candidate to receive a double-digit percentage of the vote was Stephen Frye (11 percent), who ran unsuccessfully for Congress in 2012.
Nevada allows its voters to select "none of these" candidates in elections for President and statewide offices. The last time the option received the most votes was in 1976, when Republicans preferred it to both candidates running in a primary for the House of Representatives.

School may be out for summer but some of the lessons children learned will last a lifetime. A Middle School in Southern California has found a way to humiliate and confuse kids publicly by making them declare their sexual prowess in front of their peers.
At least one pair of parents is fuming after their eighth-grade daughter came home from school saying that every student in her class had to indicate – publicly – how far they are prepared to go sexually. The incident happened this week at Woodland Park Middle School in the San Diego, Calif. suburb of San Marcos, reports local ABC affiliate KGTV.
The parents, who don’t want to be named, say their 14-year-old daughter was embarrassed because the teacher in her family life and health class instructed her and all of her classmates to stand under one of several signs. Each sign was labeled with a different phrase. Some of the labeled signs were innocuous, according to KGTV. These included “smiled at,” “hugged” and “kissed.”

Maryland Obamacare Insurer Hiking Premiums 30 Percent
CareFirst of Maryland Inc. and Group Hospitalization and Medical Services Inc., both CareFirst companies, submitted filings to the Maryland insurance department requesting a 30.2 percent premium increase for individual plans in 2015. CareFirst Blue Choice Inc. requested a 22.8 percent increase for next year, citing an older average membership age and a sicker patient pool.
Maryland’s exchange has only five insurers which participated in 2014 and will add another insurer in 2015. All Savers Insurance, a subsidiary of UnitedHealthcare, requested a 4.8 percent. A nonprofit Kaiser Foundation plan offered a 12.1 percent rate reduction and Evergreen Health Cooperative, 10.3 percent reduction.

Which is why the Obama administration would surely character Major Nidal Hassan as serving with “honor and distinction.” After all, he signed up for the military in a time of war.

In Maryland, Democrats Gansler and Mizeur find inspiration in Cantor’s loss in Virginia
Both Attorney General Douglas F. Gansler and Del. Heather R. Mizeur made appeals to supporters, citing the victory of an obscure professor with tea party backing in the Republican primary in Cantor’s Richmond-area district.

That 12 percent spike in the number of patients — many of whom aren’t actually facing true emergencies — is spurring the hospital to convert a waiting room into more exam rooms.
That’s just the opposite of what many people expected under Obamacare, particularly because one of the goals of health reform was to reduce pressure on emergency rooms by expanding Medicaid and giving poor people better access to primary care.
Instead, many hospitals in Kentucky and across the nation are seeing a surge of those newly insured Medicaid patients walking into emergency rooms.

‘Wow’: Journalist Attempts to ‘Debunk’ Anti-Gun Group’s List of ‘School Shootings in America Since Sandy Hook’ — Here’s What He Found
Everytown for Gun safety, an anti-gun group formed by former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg and prominent gun control advocate Shannon Watts, released new data on Tuesday suggesting that there have been an average of 1.37 school shootings every single week in the U.S. since the deadly 2012 shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary in Newtown, Connecticut.
The anti-gun organization cites a total of 74 school shootings since Dec. 14, 2012. However, several of the shootings have come under scrutiny as some of them appear to have occurred off-campus and at least one may have been an instance of self-defense.
Journalist Charles C. Johnson dug deeper into Everytown’s data on Tuesday and published his findings on Twitter. He also criticized the fact that the group classified violent disputes and gang-related violence as “school shootings.”
“It’s not a school shooting when someone goes and shoots a specific person on campus. It’s a shooting that happens to take place at school,” he wrote.

Drug cartels are amateurs: here’s the real thing
Medical News Today, June 22, 2013,“Most Americans on Prescriptions.” “7 out of every 10 Americans are on prescription drugs, and more than half of the country are on at least two, according to an analysis conducted by Mayo Clinic and Olmsted Medical Center researchers.”
That’s 210 million men, women, and children—hooked. Something the Sinaloa Cartel can only dream of.
Most commonly ingested medical drugs? In order: antibiotics, antidepressants, and opioids. Those last two indicate Americans are trying to change their state of mind and kill pain via the Man in the White Coat; the street dealer is way, way behind.
Here’s an interesting quote from the Medical News piece: “…nearly one quarter of women between 50 and 64 take antidepressants…”
The street drug cartels, of course, are working at a disadvantage. The White Coat dealers are backed up by government, insurance companies, medical boards, medical journals, Wall Street, banks, pharmaceutical companies, media, medical schools, hospitals, and big foundations. That’s the competition. What are the street drug cartels going to do? Put out a hit on all these people? Hell, I’m sure some of the Mexican and Colombian drug chiefs have their own doctors and are taking Zoloft and Paxil themselves.

UPPER MARLBORO, Md. -- A former District Heights police officer will spend at least five years in prison for shooting a handcuffed suspect who had escaped a squad car.
A jury of six men and six women found Johnnie Riley guilty of first- and second-degree assault, use of a handgun in the commission of a crime of violence and misconduct in office. Riley was acquitted of attempted second-degree murder.
The shooting followed a traffic stop in September 2012. Riley took Kalvin Kyle into custody after learning the suspect had been riding a stolen motorcycle.
