WCEA OFFICERS RECALLED
Fellow WCEA Members:
In recent weeks, hundreds of WCEA members have signed two petitions: one to recall the current WCEA leadership and a second to put a group of members in place as interim managers to handle the daily operations of the association.
These petitions have now been signed by a majority of WCEA members. As a result, the WCEA leadership has been placed on notice that sufficient signatures have been secured to recall them from office. Pending the recall process, they have been suspended from their positions and the interim managers put into place.
What does this mean for you? The interim managers will take care of the day to day business of the association, including:
· Working to successfully conclude negotiations
· Appointing a review committee to provide due process to the recalled officers
· Appointing an election committee to secure nominations for officers and directors and to conduct an election.
It is the goal of the managers to re-establish a vibrant WCEA that truly reflects the wishes of its members and that works tirelessly to strengthen our association, profession, and public schools.
The interim managers will adhere to the vote of the Representative Assembly on March 19, 2014 regarding the proposed bylaw amendments. Specifically, the body will not consider bylaw amendments to disaffiliate from MSEA/NEA before the end of the 2014-15 school year, if at all. In the interim, we will actively work on establishing an improved relationship and better communication with MSEA/NEA. The Representative Assembly originally scheduled for today will remain cancelled.
If you have questions, please feel free to contact any of the undersigned interim managers. We have full confidence that together we will build a strong WCEA.

These actions were not taken in accordance with the governing documents of WCEA or in accordance with the law.
The democratically elected leadership of WCEA would like everyone to know that we are continuing to exercise the duties of the office. We will not be bullied and these actions will not affect the business affairs of the Association. Member services, including member representation and contract negotiations with the Wicomico County Board of Education, will continue unchanged. Further, this attempt to subvert the democratic process will not succeed: on April 28th and 29th, the Association’s vote on Bylaws changes will proceed, and members will be able to decide for themselves whether to become self-governing.

A Letter To The Editor: Food Lion
Just wanted to tell you about my experience at Food Lion Tillman ROAD this am. My wife is under the weather so guess who got to go grocery shopping today. I am an early riser so I was at the store shortly after opening. Did the normal routine, couldn’t find bacon bits so I asked an associate, well no clue so I said forget it. Very low choice of beef roast and I mean standard chuck roast as they had two! Needed about a 3 pound roast however my wife had wrote on my list 3lbs. Found no one to help me so I bought another cut that was large enough. Everything else was normal.
Got to the checkout and they rung the groceries up and the last item was some matches. Joe they asked me for ID. Joe I am 70 years old!!! They said it didn’t matter if I want the matches id required. The manager happened to walk by and the cashier asked as she was walking by she never stopped just shrugged her shoulders and kept going. Joe I really wanted to leave and go somewhere else but I didn’t because of time restraints. This policy pertains to any restricted items such as cigs and alcohol and who knows what else. I know the policy was put in place because they got caught selling something that was age restricted and probably paid a hefty fine. I told them that I would never be back and I mean it The cashier just gave me that whatever look! Very Poor Management!!!
Not at all customer friendly. If a cashier at some point sold an age restricted item the answer is NOT TO PUNISH the public but to find some other way so that their employees don’t do that.
Food Lions policy is right there with BAN ALL THE GUNS because of a few individuals use them in an unlawful way! Here I come Giant! Yes your prices are a little higher but in return you have a great selection and excellent customer service, and WalMart for other certain things.

Today - Wicomico County Council Revisits Board of Elections Decision - In Our Opinion - This Was Improper!
- The Wicomico County Council revisited their last Council's decision (6-1) vote to try and schedule yet another public hearing on Leasing the Adkins facility to house the Board of Elections. Recently - there has been a rash of 'flip flop' votes to reconsider a number of County wide issues. In our analysis - it's almost as if our County has become the City's version of SAPOA - whereby the 'Good Ole Boys' network tries to prevail to the detriment of our citizens.
- First - there was the Bennett Middle School Construction. In that instance, the County Council body originally decided not to build the school. Then, Councilwoman Stevie Prettyman decided to bring the topic up again, this time reversing her previous vote that ultimately led to the BMS construction approval.
- Second - then there was the recent decision to not issue a pay raise for Mike Lewis - Sheriff's Department. Again, Stevie Prettyman reversed course and decided to change her vote that resulted in that vote being changed also.
- Third - again today, Stevie Prettyman decided to reverse course and tried to schedule yet another hearing - to revisit the subject.
Today - it reminded us of a full blown public hearing procession, however, this time the public was not invited. We would also like to add - that according to the County Council's own set of instructions - it's suppose to limit the time allowed for public comments to no more than 5 minutes. Today - we noticed the Adkins Lease proponents
stood-up numerous times and proffered testimony that well exceeded their 5 minute allotments.
In the end - we found today's County Council meeting to be improper - not only to those who attended - but to those thousands upon thousands of Wicomico taxpayers who had little or no voice in the subject matter. In our opinion - the Adkins Lease - ought not to have been allowed to be revisited - especially since it wasn't even advertised. Adkin's spokesperson - Bill Turner kept referring to him being 'blindsided' at the first public hearing.
Delmar resident, and spokesperson John Palmer finally interjected at the end - and called attention to the 'public ambush' - putting it in military terms;
'Prior Planning Prevents Poor Performance'.
We Agree!
It should be noted that there's an especially interesting twist to this whole thing. Not only did Matt Holloway try to bring it back to a vote TWICE today, it's been reported that Matt is LEASING FARM LAND from one of the people involved. He should have recused himself and he did quite the opposite.

Let's Clear Up The Two Unfortunate Stories This Morning
In Salisbury, two men, (roommates) experienced an home invasion on Pemberton Drive which is now being called a homicide as one is deceased and we're not exactly sure of the other mans condition but were told it's not good.
That being said, a home invasion near an affluent neighborhood, (Nithsdale) where such rage took place and two people were beaten by a baseball bat, this is not good Folks.
In recent years Salisbury has grown about 25% in population and let's make something VERY CLEAR here. This increase in population is NOT because Salisbury provides so many job opportunities.
What Salisbury provides more so than anywhere else in the state is AFFORDABLE HOUSING. Need I say anything else?
Today we announced Salisbury as the 4th most dangerous City in the state. LOOK at those POPULATION numbers again Folks.
SALISBURY IS NOT SAFE! When you have two murders in one year and the next year you only have one, telling people part one crime is down 50%, are you feeling safer? This is the kind of math your Mayor and Police Chief are using.
Yesterday someone stood in front of the County Council stating crime is NOT what is actually being published, BS! Salisbury has a crime issue and what is your Main Stream Media telling you all day yesterday and today, WE NEED TO SAVE THOSE 12 FIREFIGHTERS. BS, we need 12 new police Officers! We hear the Fire Chief stating how proud he is that the 12 new Firefighters are helping to save properties by not allowing fires to spread more than ONE ROOM. Then, (right in their very back yard) an entire building on Lake Street burned to the ground, HELLO!
The Mayor and Council need to get their priorities straight and they have failed to do so in almost TWO decades. Quit pounding your chest Salisbury is growing. Quit pounding your chest you're bringing more affordable housing to Salisbury. There's a problem in Salisbury Ladies & Gentlemen and YOU need to stand up to this problem before ANY more victims lose their lives.

While Other County Executives Are Trying To Bring Jobs To Their Counties, Pollitt Is Trying To Bring In Trash Instead
That's what happened recently when Pollitt's Team went to Worcester County to try and get them to send their trash to Wicomico County instead of New Jersey. Worcester County knows the history of Wicomico County and its liberal leadership. Start out with one price and in no time they'll raise the price.
Regardless of public input, Pollitt is desperately trying to move at warp speed to deliver ammunition back to the next meeting with the hope of selling the public with overwhelming interest from other Counties, it's failing. It kind of reminds me of the E.S. Adkins project and the Election Board, DOA.
We have yet to see ANY interest whatsoever in this proposed and unexpected project. WE NEED JOBS, NOT TRASH. And why haven't we seen any new jobs or industry, because Rick Pollitt is incapable of doing his job, period.

POLICE CONTINUE TO SEEK LEADS IN SALISBURY HOME INVASION
(SALISBURY, MD) – Investigators from the Maryland State Police Homicide Unit continue to seek leads in the investigation of a home invasion that left one dead and another injured early yesterday morning in Salisbury.
The deceased victim is identified as Donald G. Mariner, 72, of the 27,000-block of Pemberton Drive in Salisbury. Mariner was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency medical personnel. The cause and manner of death are pending autopsy results.
The identity of the second victim remains undisclosed at this time due to safety concerns. He is being treated for injuries sustained during the incident at Peninsula Regional Medical Center.
The suspect is described as an African American male. Police believe he was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and blue jeans at the time the crime occurred.
The preliminary investigation indicates the injured victim made the 9-1-1 call to police, reporting the home invasion on Pemberton Drive. Upon arrival, troopers from the Salisbury Barrack, sheriff deputies from the Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office, and officers from the Salisbury Police Department found the injured victim, who told police he had been assaulted with a blunt object. He was transported to Peninsula Regional Medical Center for treatment.
Police also found Mariner inside the home. He was pronounced dead by emergency medical personnel. Police believe the two victims were roommates.
During the initial stages of the investigation, police learned that Mariner’s Ford F150 pickup truck had been stolen from the residence. Police believe the truck may have been operating sometime between the hours of 11:30 p.m. on Monday night to 1:45 a.m. on Tuesday, April 15th.
The truck was found abandoned on West Main Street near the VFW, approximately two miles from location of the crime. Anyone who may have seen the black Ford F150 in the area of Pemberton Drive or West Main Street is urged to call police.
Crime Solvers of the Lower Eastern Shore at 410-548-1776 is offering a reward of up to $2,000 to anyone with information leading to the arrest and indictment of the suspect. Callers can remain anonymous.
