City Of Salisbury Parking Garage, Or Haunted House?

This morning while I attended the County Council Meeting I was appalled by the lack of illumination in this Parking Garage!

Why ANY customer would have to put up with a security issue like this while paying good money to park their vehicle there is ridiculous!

I did not use a flash here and trust me, when I used the auto button to clear up the photo it actually halped make it look even brighter than it actually is in there.

Do they even have a Security Guard on duty there?

The Saliabury Zoo & Jim Rapp Continue To Be A Disappointment

Wow,

I just ran across the blog pertaining to the Salisbury Zoo. My father served as director there in the early 1990's and fought hard to improve its image and professionalism with a very limted budget. I certainly hate to think all of his work has basically gone by the wayside, especially in light of the fact that the young man currently running the zoo seemed bright to my father when he worked there.

I do know he recounted to me every month how he had to fight tooth and nail with the powers that be to make any changes to the zoo, regardless of how beneficial they were. He truly believed that Salisbury could become one of the finest small zoos in the U.S. , and he would be heart-broken to hear of Mr. Rapp's, and the city's, exploits.

Sincerely,
Johnson Bridgwater

Who's Been Mounted?

Two weeks ago today, I confronted the City Council and asked them directly, point blank, are these two horses going up for Auction?

Each and every Council Member sat there in awe, jaws dropped and not one of them could and or would answer my question.

I then turned to the Mayor and said, perhaps you can tell us what's going on Mayor? The Mayor responded with, yes, the horses will be going up for Auction as long as the Council recognizes them as surplus items. I can get you all the details as soon as we know more information.

I was cool with that. However, it's now been 2 weeks and I've received nothing. Allow me to take you back slightly and mention that I confronted Chief Webster a week earlier and he denied having any knowledge whatsoever about these horses.

Yesterday I received a call from one of the Mounted Patrol Police Mary Pines. Mary has been on the Force for 6 years now. Following protocol, Mary has gone through each step, every channel and she has made it VERY clear that she wants first right of refusal on these horses if the City considers selling them. They own a farm and can easily handle these animals. Chief Webster has denied any knowledge of these animals going up for Auction to Mary as well. Why the big denial Chief?

Mary was told she couldn't have these horses because they were going back to their original owners. But then again, why an Auction? Are there 4 horses, 2 of which are not in these photos? Are they auctioning the other 2 possible horses? You can't ask the Chief, he's clueless. If you ask the Mayor, we'll get right back to you on that one and nothing happens.

What I can tell you is that the Salisbury Police Department is dropping the Mounted Police Program and no one has said a word. How many secrets can one City have?

I'd like to add the following. As many of you know, Jennifer and I spent quite a bit of time last year rescuing foals from slaughter. We brought them back to our home and raised them back to health and then adopted them out to very loving families. We did our own background checks on these families to make sure these horses were going to excellent homes where there was a pasture, fencing, a barn and so forth and so on. Then we had a contract stating we could visit any time we'd like and if the conditions weren't proper we could take the horse back immediately.

What does an Auction do to assure you these horses are in fact going to a good home? NOTHING! The City is out for the almighty dollar once again and they couldn't care less what happens to these horses afterwards. Sounds like the Salisbury Zoo all over again to me!

Maybe the best thing that could happen is that Jennifer and I outbid everyone there at the Auction and can assure they live out the rest of their lives at a great home. Time will tell.

Assateague Island After The Storm

Alberofan visited Assateague Island this morning and delivered these beautiful pictures. That was one heck of a storm!

The Morning After

Trees are down, power is still out in Ocean City and each and everyone running for Office in Wicomico County needs to take a ride on every street in the entire County and put their signs back in the upright position as they are all lying down on the ground.

Just 30 Minutes Ago In Salisbury

Buryvoter has been busy delivering almost up to the hour photos of events in Salisbury this evening. This home is on Patomic Ave, just off Old Ocean City Road.

N. Park Drive. There Is Standing Water All Over The Salisbury Zoo

How Do You Think The Sludge Pit Is Holding Up?

From the look of things, the Zoo isn't making out too well either. Don't worry Jimbo, buryvoter took these pictures, not me.

I know if I lived in Harbor Point I'd be throwing a fit and forcing the MDE to come out there and shut that place down. In this case, shit is rolling down hill in liquid form.

Downtown Salisbury Is Getting Ready!

Earlier today I mentioned my concern towards what might happen at the Salisbury Zoo with flooding. Certainly sand bags aren't going to be as easy for the Zoo as it is for those businesses on Main Street.

I can tell you here in Delmar things are quickly flooding due to the dry soil for such a long period of time. Ponds are already overflowing and spreading into the pasture areas and this is just the beginning! Time to run some pumps on and wait it out.

Will The Salisbury Zoo Flood Out This Weekend?

With the serious threat of very heavy rains coming to the region, the Salisbury Zoo sits 100% in a Flood Plane Zone according to the State.

Over the years, many of animals have died a horrible death because of such said flooding. The Prairie Dogs are the first that come to mind. Even after we went directly to the Mayor about these animals drowning, she covered it up and said everything was OK at the Zoo. I believe 19 have died from drowning. Considering there are only 2 left, that number could be much higher.

There have been many times the Zoo Staff simply open the gates for the Llamas and allow them to roam the Zoo in order to find higher ground because the river floods so badly that they'd be standing chest high in water if they stayed in that exhibit.

Then there's the Dam upstream that everyone is so concerned about. What would happen if it collapsed? Surely the Salisbury Zoo would be a thing of the past and the animals, (most of them) would not survive.

So do tell me, why on God's Green Earth would all of you consider spending $36,000,000.00 to renovate the Salisbury Zoo where it is located? This has got to be the biggest scam job Ron Alessi and Jim Rapp have ever pulled off!

The way I see it is, the City Council is already stupid enough to sell you on a $10,000.00, (soon to be $15,000,000.00) Fire Station on swamp land. How the heck could all of you fall for this BS placing a Zoo in the middle of some of the lowest land in the County where the River already runs through it?

Wouldn't the Old Mall pose as the perfect location to relocate the Salisbury Zoo? It should also be known that the Perdue's offered to donate a ton of land next to the Shorebirds Stadium and Ron Alessi turned it down.

By the way Mayor, (seriously) should you need a place to keep some of these animals if the threat gets too bad, we have a huge barn with stalls and paddock areas not being used right now. I also have a large horse trailer I could transport these animals with if need be. My services are available unconditionally and free of charge. This is about the animals, not individuals.

PS, I happen to know of an excellent animal caretaker that just happens to be on this property as well and I can assure you these animals would be very well cared for. 410-430-5349 I can be there in 15 minutes.

Update: Virginia Beach has already received 9" of rain and it's only 11:30 a.m. on Friday.

We'll See Your Violation And Up Yours!

The Town of Milton, DE. seems to be in the hot seat now with WWTP Violations of their own. Although the City of Salisbury is dealing with their own denial, Milton is now looking at a $10,000.00 a day in violations if they don't get theirs fixed right away.

The Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control is claiming the WWTP is not filtering their water properly and discharging it into the Broadkill River. Sound familiar? Although the Town is cooperating so far, time will tell if they are fined or not? They too are planning on building a new WWTP in a year or so but maybe they could take lessons from the City of Salisbury?

The photo above is the illegal sludge pit at the Salisbury WWTP that is still in litigation with the MDE. The MDE has been asking the City to put in test wells for almost a year now to see if the liner that has been in place for more than 18 years and only guaranteed for less than one year is in fact leaking? The City refuses to respond to the MDE's request and are fighting them all the way.

Dave Pushkar, (from the MDE) stated to me personally that he felt it was highly suspicious that they refuse to respond and feels there's a very good chance the liner is in fact leaking.

Boat rides are available through the County Tourism Office on weekends only. Ask for John Jacobs or Dave Winslow.

Are 640,000 Readers Being Mislead?

The Daily Times front page article tells a story of the Men's Journal writing an article about the Eastern Shore and the beauty of what we have to offer.

Jim Rapp, (Director of the Salisbury Zoo) is seen here paddling through the river near the pipes in which were illegally discharging raw sewage and chemicals directly into the Wicomico River, which he knowingly allowed but denies, as well as Ron Alessi, (President of the Zoo Commission).

While 640,000 people read this particular article this month, what will happen when they arrive and find signs posted all over the Wicomico River telling them it's not safe at all to be in these waters?

Yes, the Eastern Shore USED to be a wonderful place for recreation but these people, (including Barrie Tilghman & Co.) have completely destroyed such an experience and should "ALL" be ashamed of themselves!

The Last Place Anyone Would Want To Work!

If you like discrimination against woman, go to work here!

One employee who worked for the Bank of Willards who is 8 months pregnant was recently fired for an incident that happened 8 months earlier that she didn't even get written up for and the problem, (human error) was immediately corrected. In order to get rid of her they used this as an excuse to let her go. No more health insurance, nothing! What a nice place to work!

Another woman was interviewing for a job there and she already had children and they asked, are you going to have any more children? Why? Because if you are, we're not going to hire you.

I was also told about a woman who has Lymes Disease as well as her child. They have to travel all the way to PA. to get treatments and she was recently told she may no longer use sick days to take off work, she must use her vacation time instead or she'll be terminated.

The entire Staff, (females) were recently told that if their child got sick at School after 9:00 a.m., they were NOT allowed to leave and get them. It would be up to their husbands to do so or they'd lose their jobs. Not only does the Bank of Willards pay their people next to nothing, they suck as an employer and one can only hope the group of them get together and create a Class Action Lawsuit against these people for discrimination.

It seems that since the President of the Bank is a former Attorney, everyone is scared to death of this guy. I say, sue the crap out of him and make him eat his own words!

If any of you would like to switch Banks, call Chris Hatton at the Bank of America just down the street. 410-749-2205. He's a great Investment Broker and he'd be honored to set you up with the right person to fill your needs. Why do I get the feeling a lot of women are going to switch Banks right away?

I Ain't Elderly Efffer! I Just Fffffergot My Teeffff!

Today's Wildlife Photos

Honey, stay here and use that umbrella while I unlock the gate and scare away these seagulls. Yeah, I know how much we spend each month to rent this space at Brew River! Look at it this way Honey, aren't they spectacular birds? We've got 1/2 the Salisbury Zoo right here on this Pier.

SHA Works Overtime?

The State Highway Administration was working overtime yesterday as they had received a truckload of trees, (shown above) being installed where the Bypass meets Rt. 50. Is this a good time to plant trees?

So When Is A Mayor A Mayor?

Tell me, what has Barrie Tilghman actually done for the City of Salisbury? More importantly, maybe everyone should now start concentrating on what Barrie Tilghman will be leaving all of you with once she's gone?

Proclamations during Council Meetings doesn't cut it!

Have things gotten better at the Zoo?
Have things gotten better at the WWTP?
Is the City in a better financial situation then it was last year?
Is the City in greater debt than last year?
Is the City a safer place to live?
Are murders up or down in the City?
Are there Gangs in Salisbury?
Is the River in better shape?
Do the Citizens believe in Barrie Tilghman and or trust her better this year than last year?
Is it just me or is the Bank of Delmarva involved in almost every transaction the City pulls off?
Has the Mayor publicly asked Mike Dunn where he in fact got his Stock in the Bank of Delmarva?
Are there less homeless people in the City?
Are the more homeowners in the City?
Do you believe what she tells you?
Is the Mayor making more money than last year?

There are tons of quality questions to ask but I think some of these shed light as to just how well things are truly going with this Mayor and Council. Let's leave it for the Barrie Supporters to come back and show us jus what good she has done representing all of you as your Mayor?

Most importantly, what will she leave all of you when she's gone and what will she have for herself when she leaves? We all know she put her name on the deed just before WalMart purchased their property.

Today's Sad Wildlife Photo

Although this turtle is to the surface you can barely see his body? Why? Ecoli might be a good start!

So thanks for covering everything up Barrie and lying to the Public. As you can't clearly see, they'll survive.

Here We Go Again!

"Due to press release issues your paper will be delivered 3 to 4 hours late."

I wonder what would happen if we "all" chose a date and cancelled our subscriptions all at the same time?

Here's an idea. How about they come out with a paper just like they have in Ocean City, once a week? Oh, don't forget, those papers are FREE too!
