Trump has put up 39 miles of wall on 2,000-mile border
Only a small fraction of the 2,000-mile wall President Trump vowed as a candidate to build on the U.S.-Mexico border has gone up since he took office more than two years ago, according to a document the defense agency overseeing construction provided to Sen. John Hoeven, R-N.D.
Exactly 39.8 miles of wall — technically steel bollard fence — have been installed along the southern border since January 2017, for an average of 1.7 miles per month.
"The Corps has told our office that they have completed construction on 39.8 miles using FY17 appropriations funding, and that additional projects using FY18 funding are underway," a representative for Hoeven's office wrote in an email to Washington Examiner.
However, earlier this month, the Defense Department agency overseeing construction told Trump 82 miles had been completed by his administration.
“We have put in the ground over 82 miles that is up to date. And then, right now, by the end of this year, we’ll have another 97 miles that will go in," Army Corps of Engineers Lt. Gen. Todd Semonite told Trump during a visit to Calexico, Calif., April 5.

Five-Time-Deported Illegal Alien Charged with Kicking Baby to Death
A five-time deported illegal alien has been arrested and charged with kicking a four-month-old baby to death in Shelby County, Tennessee, after learning the child was not his.
Carlos Zuniga-Aviles, a 33-year-old illegal alien from Honduras, who has been using the alias “Jose Avila-Agurcia” while in the United States, was charged with murder this week after he allegedly kicked four-month-old Alexander Lizondro-Chacon to death on April 12.
According to police, Zuniga-Aviles became enraged with the baby’s mother, Mercy Lizondro-Chacon, after learning that he was not the child’s father. That’s when Zuniga-Aviles struck Alexander multiple times until he was unresponsive, police said.

What they didn’t find was evidence that the police force built out of fear of being without help in an emergency did much actual police work.
Even now, the people who hired Cimperman don’t know the depth of what went wrong in the part-time police force of this small town in the hills of northeastern Ohio. The new chief says he’s consulted with state criminal investigators to help figure it out.
They could have prevented it all with a single phone call.

EPIC Alleges Google May Be Helping U.S. Government Conduct Warrantless Searches
One of the core underpinnings of U.S. society is that all individuals are protected from unlawful search and seize of their private property. This concept is enshrined in the Fourth Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, which specifically requires law enforcement officials to obtain a warrant from a court in order to conduct a search of any private property. For that reason, it’s especially troubling that Silicon Valley search giant Google may be involved in helping law enforcement officials evade this responsibility. In fact, according to the Electronic Privacy Information Center (EPIC), Google is actually helping the U.S. government conduct warrantless searches.
In an amicus brief filed with the United States Supreme Court, EPIC suggested that Google might be actively helping law enforcement officials bypass the Fourth Amendment in order to conduct warrantless searches. From a civil liberties perspective, Google’s involvement is worrisome because it means that the right to avoid a “digital search” of one’s property is being violated. One would never allow a “physical search” of one’s property without a warrant, so why should a digital search by Google be allowed?

Michelle Pourciau, the Baltimore transportation director who was appointed by Mayor Catherine Pugh less than two years ago, resigned Friday, a city councilman said, just days after The Baltimore Sun reported that the city's internal watchdog was conducting a wide-ranging review of her leadership and morale in the 1,200-employee department.
Lester Davis, a spokesman for Acting Mayor Bernard C. “Jack” Young, and German Vigil, a transportation spokesman, said Pourciau no longer works for the city. Vigil said Frank Murphy is serving as acting director.

Unfortunately, the tactic of “ballot harvesting,” introduced last November, has made it impossible for Republicans ever to win again.
“Ballot harvesting” involves using a third party, such as a well-trained political activist, to collect mail-in ballots on behalf of other voters and deliver them to the polls.
There is no vetting of ballot harvesters, and no limit to how many ballots they can deliver.
The tactic was legalized by then-Gov. Jerry Brown in 2016, over GOP objections. Hundreds of thousands of ballots were dropped off at polling places in 2018, making a difference in key races.

When i type in "Fox News", i often get Splinter, LA Times, or some other liberal feed as the Top Story, many that are often critical to Fox News or to Trump, but just so happen to have Fox News mentioned in their article.
Thinking it was just coincidence as those sites had more recent hits, i tried using other news networks under the MSM umbrella: CNN, MSNBC, NBC news, etc.
Wouldn't you know it- their sites were listed FIRST, not further down the screen like Fox News. Don't believe me, try it for yourself. All of the other sites are 'top' hits.
Is this just another way for Google to promote liberal propaganda??? Or is just a coincidental anomaly in their search algorithm?

TOWSON, Md. —Jurors in the Dawnta Harris murder trial saw the fallen officer's body-worn camera video Friday.
The state played a three-hour video in court from more than a dozen sources, starting with Harris' taped interview and finishing with video from Officer Amy Caprio's body-worn camera.
The officer's video includes her radio transmissions as she headed to the scene in May 2018. The video shows her draw her service weapon and shout to the driver of the black Jeep Wrangler to get out.
Prosecutors claim Harris, now 17, hit Caprio with a stolen Jeep Wrangler on purpose and killed her. The defense said Harris was a scared kid who panicked when he saw a gun.

Boy thrown from Mall of America balcony is out of critical condition, family says
The family of a 5-year-old boy who was thrown by a stranger off a third-floor balcony at the Mall of America in Minnesota this month says he's alert and conscious and no longer in critical condition. They said the recovery for the boy would be long, but they expect him to be home by sometime in June, CBS Minnesota reports.
The family said they're now turning their focus on the additional surgeries the boy will undergo in the healing process.
The family issued a statement Friday saying Jesus has "saved our son's life and is healing him in the most miraculous ways."

The Pentagon is set to waive a longstanding policy that prohibits military personnel from having contact with migrants as part of a move to increase the military’s involvement at the Southwest border, The Washington Post reports.
Senior officials at the Department of Defense have asked acting Defense Secretary Patrick Shanahan to authorize waivers for over 300 troops following a Department of Homeland Security request for military lawyers, cooks and drivers along the southern border. The Pentagon previously approved a similar request that provides emergency medical care for migrants if necessary.
Last month, the DHS processed over 103,000 migrants after a surge in immigration, which the Post notes is the highest one-month total in over 10 years. Border Patrol officials report that they’ve become too busy with migrant families to conduct their law enforcement duties, and have particularly felt the need for more drivers and agents to bring migrants to hospitals.

BALTIMORE —University of Maryland Medical System President and CEO Robert A. Chrencik, who had been on a leave of absence since March 25, has resigned.
John W. Ashworth continue leading UMMS as interim president and CEO.

Man seen jumping on pelican given jail time
RIVA, Md. —The man seen on video jumping on a pelican in Florida and then posting it to his Facebook page has been sentenced to 90 days in jail.
Officials in Monroe County, Florida, which comprises the Florida Keys, say a judge sentenced William Hardesty, 31, of Riva, to 90 days in jail for two counts of violating the Migratory Bird Act and two counts of animal cruelty. Hardesty was also fined $1,000 and was given one year of probation.
Hardesty was credited with 40 days time served since his arrest in March in Ocean City.

Massachusetts judge, court officer charged for obstructing ICE arrest
BOSTON – A Massachusetts State Court Judge and Trial Court Officer were indicted today in federal court in Boston on obstruction of justice charges for preventing an U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officer from taking custody of an alien defendant, it was announced by ICE leadership in Boston and the U.S. Attorney for the District of Massachusetts.
Shelley M. Richmond Joseph, 51, of Natick, who was appointed as a Massachusetts District Court Judge in November 2017, and Wesley MacGregor, 56, of Watertown, a former Trial Court Officer since 1993, were indicted on one count of conspiracy to obstruct justice and two counts of obstruction of justice – aiding and abetting. MacGregor was also charged with one count of perjury.
“When we as officers of the law are confronted with an abuse within our system, we take those allegations seriously. Any conduct which severs the underlying trust that the citizens of this Commonwealth place in those who hold positions of power and authority is a stain on all who swear an oath to protect and serve, with honor and integrity,” said Peter C. Former State Dept. employee pleads guilty to concealing contact with Chinese spies
A former State Department official pleaded guilty Wednesday to concealing her contacts with two Chinese spies who showered her with gifts and benefits worth tens of thousands of dollars in exchange for access to sensitive diplomatic data.
Candace Marie Claiborne, 63, admitted to one count of conspiracy to defraud the United States. She will be sentenced on July 9.
Over the course of five years, the two Chinese spies provided Claiborne with cash, meals, tuition payments, a furnished apartment, phone and laptop computer, according to court documents. Some of the gifts were also provided to a “close family member,” prosecutors said.
Claiborne said the benefits could generate more than $20,000 a year working for Chinese agents, according to court documents.
In exchange, she provided them with internal State Department data, ranging from U.S. economic strategies to visits by dignitaries between the two countries.

Why many Americans aren’t planning to take a summer vacation
Add a vacation to the ever-growing list of stuff that’s getting too expensive.
That’s according to a new survey from Bankrate.com, which found that just 52% of the 2,577 adults surveyed would definitely be vacationing this summer. Of those who said they wouldn’t be, “can’t afford it” was the most-cited reason. About a fifth of those who said they can’t afford it cited their efforts to pay down debt.
That survey data translates to 39 million U.S. adults not taking a vacation this summer due to expense, Bankrate said.
Other leading reasons that respondents cited were “not interested” (23%) and “health/age” (15%).

In 2015, then-State Department spokeswoman Marie Harf suggested that potential terrorists would not join the Islamic State if they had better job opportunities. "We cannot kill our way out of this war. We need in the medium- to longer term to go after the root causes that lead people to join these groups, whether it's lack of opportunity for jobs," Harf said on MSNBC. "We can work with countries around the world to help improve their governance. We can help them build their economies so they can have job opportunities for these people."
Harf is actually right—well, in the narrow sense that combatting Islamist terrorist groups is about more than military strikes. She is woefully—and dangerously—wrong, however, about more jobs being a solution. Yet the view she articulated is not hers alone. Her former boss, Barack Obama, similarly claimed that "extremely poor societies … provide optimal breeding grounds for disease, terrorism, and conflict." Indeed, the Department of Homeland Security's program on "countering violent extremism," or CVE, which the Obama administration established to counter radicalization within vulnerable communities, adheres to the same belief. How? CVE treats jihadists like members of street gangs or the mafia—as disgruntled, perhaps defenseless individuals who traveled down a dark path but can return to the light. And creating a better quality of life—a decent job, a reliable income, more responsibilities—is key to that return. In many cases, this framework would, for example, help gangsters who grew up poor with few opportunities. Not so much for the people who join ISIS.
Recent events show why this approach is misguided for Islamist terrorists. On Wednesday, Sri Lankan authorities revealed that most of the suicide bombers who murdered more than 350 people in coordinated attacks in Sri Lanka on Easter Sunday were affluent and well educated. In fact, as Buttigieg’s governor in Indiana, Pence had been particularly generous to Buttigieg when he publicly revealed his sexual orientation. But Buttigieg would not be dissuaded by Pence’s gesture of tolerance.
Buttigieg’s hatred was inspired by Pence’s Christian beliefs not any anti-gay behavior on his part. In other words, it was an assault on Americans’ most basic freedom – religious liberty. If Kate Smith's statue goes, so should Muhammad Ali's Liberty Medal
Now that the Philadelphia Flyers and Comcast Spectacor have officially removed the statue of Kate Smith outside the Wells Fargo Center and banned her famous version of "God Bless America," there is another question that needs to be addressed: should Muhammad Ali, a racial separatist and supporter of George Wallace, continue to be honored by the National Constitution Center in Philadelphia?

REVEALED: The number of crooked cops investigated for misconduct
At least 85,000 police officers have been investigated for misconduct across the country over the last ten years but only 30,000 have been de-certified, startling new records show.
According to data compiled by USA Today, there have been more than 200,000 separate misconduct investigations launched into law enforcement officials since 2009.
The most common offense is excessive force which was to blame for 22,924 of the probes, but other alleged crimes were prevalent including 3,145 alleged cases of rape, child molestation or other sexual crimes and 2,307 alleged cases of domestic abuse.
Of the 85,000 who were investigated, at least 30,000 were de-certified.

Border Patrol Official: Congress at Fault for Massive Caravan
National Border Patrol Council Vice President Hector Garza Thursday blamed Congress for a massive migrant caravan that is reportedly making its way through Mexico toward the United States' southern border.
“This caravan is no accident," Garza told Fox News' "Fox and Friends." "It’s actually the result of all these sanctuary policies. It’s the result of Congress not acting and continuing to encourage illegal immigration.”

It's an amazing illusion painted on the driveway of the Brooks Elementary School in Medford, which appears to pop right up out of the street. "When you're walking across you can tell it's painted, but what we hope is when you're driving down you'll see it as, like 3D, three dimensional, so it looks real," said Isa.
The unique crosswalk is the brainchild of Eric and Isa. They wanted to do something when Eric's brother had a close call with a car. "We were thinking of a way we could do something to help make the street safer," said Isa.

Witness: Gas Station Clerk Opened Fire, Shot Alleged Robber ‘Quite a Few Times’
A witness to what appears to have been a foiled gas station robbery said the clerk opened fire and shot the alleged robber “quite a few times.”
The incident occurred in Mt. Clemens, Michigan.
The Detroit Free Press reported that the suspect was armed, and the Macomb County Sheriff’s Office indicated he was wearing something to cover his face.
The sheriff’s office said, “It is believed that the male, wearing some type of mask, entered the gas station with a hand gun and attempted to rob the patrons as well as the clerk. The clerk, who was also armed, shot the suspect.”
Fox 2 Detroit spoke to a witness who was pumping gas at the time the incident occurred. He noted that two women came running out and said the store was being robbed.
The witness said, “Then I seen a young man at the door, struggling to get out, and he was being shot at quite a few times.”

BALTIMORE — Maryland Medicare patients are paying 4.4 times more for brand-name diabetes medications than patients in Australia, according to a new report prepared by the staff of the House Committee on Oversight and Reform.
They also found that on average, uninsured patients buying a popular insulin, Novolog Flexpen, will pay $650 for a month's supply compared to $28 in Australia.
Diabetics need insulin to survive, but for some people, they just can't afford it at today's prices.

Yet that’s exactly what is happening increasingly across the country and around the world, as a growing number of male athletes who self-identify as women are being allowed to enter women’s competitions.
The so-called Equality Act would only worsen this trend. This piece of federal legislation, being pushed by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., would create a civil right for male athletes to self-identify as females at any time, without any evidence of physical changes to their bodies.
It would spell “the end of women’s sports,” in the words of Duke University Law School professor Doriane Lambelet Coleman, who testified against the bill at a recent House Judiciary Committee hearing.

Ocean City Mayor: ‘It is Time To Move On’

OCEAN CITY — Despite a measure of closure in the long-running Dumser’s case last week, resort officials continue to assert ownership of the historic property on the east side of the Boardwalk, but are ready to move on.
The Court of Appeals last week denied a petition for writ of certiorari filed earlier this year by the town of Ocean City, which, if approved, would have had the state’s highest court take up the case involving ownership of the historic building on the east side of the Boardwalk at South Division Street. For decades, the building has been home to the iconic Dumser’s Dairyland, but ownership of the property was called into question when an agreement between the city and the Nathans Associates expired in 2016.
The ownership dispute began in Worcester County Circuit Court, which ruled in favor of the town of Ocean City. As a result, Nathans Associates, or the heirs of Nathan Rapaport, who built the structure in 1912, were enjoined from any use of the property and were given a timeline at that time to remove or demolish the historic building.

The report, authored by the American Enterprise Institute's Benjamin Zycher, analyzes the likely impacts of the Green New Deal (GND) as outlined by Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D., N.Y.) in her proposed resolution calling for such a program. In Zeicher's account, the GND is a set of proposals (some more or less vague than others) designed to cut U.S. greenhouse gas emissions to zero by 2050. Doing so, proponents argue, would actually boost the economy through the jobs created.
This second goal of economic acceleration, Zycher writes, is a "‘broken windows‘ argument" depending as it does on the idea that destroying existing carbon-intensive capital goods would add to (rather than subtract from) the wealth in the economy.
"It is not to be taken seriously," he writes.

The Mexican government is reporting that 300,000 migrants from around the globe have traveled through Mexico in the first three months of 2019 to gain entry into the United States at its southern border.
While the majority of the migrants, the Mexican government says, are from Honduras and other countries in Central America, individuals from Cuba, Africa, and southern Asia have also been identified in the migrant caravans.
And Mexico Interior Secretary Olga Sánchez Cordero notes that these migrants want to get into the United States “illegally.”
“It’s estimated that during the first three months of the year, more than 300,000 migrants have transited through Mexico to enter the United States illegally,” Sanchez Cordero says. “There’s a change in the flow of migrants who are entering our country.”
“Sánchez Cordero did not specify how the number of migrants was estimated or how it was determined that they intended to enter the U.S. illegally,” KJZZ, an Arizona public radio station, reports.
But the staggering number of migrants trying to come into the United States is backed up by statistics from Customs and Border Protection (CBP), the federal agency in charge of border security.

VIDEO: Suspended Driver with a Toddler in His Car Brings Firetruck to a Stop in Road Rage Incident
On Tuesday, April 23, 2019, at approximately 2:25 p.m., firefighters on Engine 32 from the Bay District Volunteer Fire Department were returning to their station in Lexington Park, after a kitchen fire in Great Mills.
While on Great Mills Road a male in a Hyundai Sonata pulled alongside the firetruck and started yelling out his window to firefighters about the speed he perceived their truck was traveling at. The driver of the Sonata pulled in front of the fire truck and slammed on his brakes, he then came to a complete stop in the middle of the road, stopping the firetruck. The firefighters contacted dispatchers about the incident and asked for police to respond to the area.
The firetruck followed the Sonata into the parking lot of the St. Mary’s Square to provide dispatches an updated location for police.
A Trooper from the Maryland State Police Leonardtown Barrack responded to the location of the vehicle that was parked and unoccupied in front of the Weis Market and waited for the driver to return to the vehicle.

Here are the locations of the FBI searches in Baltimore — and how they're tied to Mayor Catherine Pugh
Baltimoreans woke up Thursday to the news that FBI agents were on the move across the city, raiding City Hall and Mayor Catherine Pugh’s homes — among other locations — amid what appeared to be a large investigation also involving the Internal Revenue Service.
The FBI confirmed its agents were executing search warrants at seven locations connected to Pugh or her top aides.
Baltimore City Hall
FBI and IRS agents were observed entering City Hall, the seat of municipal government, but it was unclear exactly where inside the building they were searching. FBI and IRS agents were seen entering the mayor’s office within the building.
City Hall is home to the mayor's office, the City Council president's office, the city comptroller's office and the offices of council members. It's also the site of the city law department, the finance department, the department of legislative reference and the inspector general's office.
