These are the Local Heros that were out day and night serving our community in search for an 82 year old Alzheimers Patient who disappeared last Saturday. Thank God the gentleman was in fact found alive and well and it would have been nice for the City Council to have recognized these fine Americans at tonights meeting but instead were all over their visitors from England. In closing, thank you! We need more Americans just like these Americans and I'm honored to share this wonderful and positive information because of all of you.

The City Lied Once Again!

Folks, I don't know when the lies and games are going to end but this evening I asked Pam what the deal was on the two Fire Trucks that were supposed to go up on Ebay and she said, "One of them is already sold.

When I asked how this was possible she informed me that they accepted one of the original bids a long time ago, even though I asked on Pac 14 if I could buy both of them. Several other people that were at that meeting stated they understood that the City refused that bid and instead wanted them placed on Ebay. I was assured by the Mayor that someone would be in contact with me and I have never once received a call. This also tells me that they accepted a bid somewhere around $600.00 for a running Fire Truck and refused my offer of $2,500.00 for that same Fire Truck.

She's your Mayor Folks, you deal with her.

82 Year Old Alzheimer's Patient Found Alive!

The 82 year old patient that wandered off Saturday from Home and Heart Elderly Center was found off Quanico Road and Chuckey's Way just 30 minutes ago. More to come about this rescue search.........

OLD DOCUMENTS RAISE NEW QUESTIONS ABOUT MALL DEMISE

After the September 8, 2006, Daily Times article in which Salisbury city officials lambasted the successful petitioners who appealed the illegal rezoning of the old Salisbury Mall by the City of Salisbury, a Public Information Act request has yielded documents from city department heads showing that the run-down property was condemned long before an appeal was filed.

In the article, Mayor Barrie Tilghman was quoted as saying, “The old mall would be torn down if it were not for this challenge. Every day a citizen drives by that mall they need to thank the people who ... went through a procedural avenue to stall and, I believe, to stop the development.”

Further negative comments were made about the four petitioners by Councilwoman Shanie Shields and City Council President Mike Dunn. Dunn also noted that city-ordered demolition of the old mall was slated to happen by January 5, 2007.

The announcement of a demolition deadline triggered the Public Information Act request for documents that could provide background about it. Documents were covered by a letter from City Attorney Paul Wilber dated September 21, 2006, citing that the enclosed documents “constitute a partial answer” to the request.

The documents show that the city condemned the old Salisbury Mall property on July 5, 2005, long before the appeal was filed.

Key among the documents shared was a letter from Tom Stevenson, director of Neighborhood Services and Code Compliance, written to the mall owners on July 7, 2006. In the letter, Stevenson stated, “Considering the referenced property has been condemned since July 5, 2005 (Case #05-3214) I feel you have been given more than enough time to raze the structure or bring it into compliance. I realize you have a considerable proposal on the table regarding the renovation of the land; however, this does not exclude your responsibility as a property owner within these corporate limits.”

Stevenson’s letter, which came a year after the property was condemned, noted that the mall property had been cited for code violations by the Building, Housing and Zoning department over 30 times in the previous two years alone.

The letter then stipulated a deadline of January 5, 2007, thus giving the mall owners another 6 months to comply with demolishing the old mall. Since the original condemnation order was not included with the document package, it is not known whether a deadline was stipulated in it as well. Another Public Information Act request has been filed to obtain the rest of the documentation concerning the old mall’s condemnation history.

Stevenson’s letter seemed prompted by an April 10, 2006, memo from Fire Chief David See urging the city to require the mall’s owners to secure the property from entry. See referred to “the dilapidated and deteriorating structure” as “a major concern for our department due to its threat to public safety.” His memo noted that the fire department had responded to “numerous nuisance alarms” and “extinguished a working fire within this structure.”

See’s memo was backed by another the same day from Chief Fire Protection Specialist Ed Torbert who stated the building presented a “huge risk to the firefighters” who would be compelled to “perform a search and rescue operation” given the “possibility of having a significant number of homeless people in the building.” On April 12, 2006, Torbert’s memo was forward to Tom Stevenson, who had recently become the head of the new Neighborhood Services and Code Compliance department.

The petitioners applauded the efforts of the three department heads, noting that their documents demonstrated great concern for citizens, public safety and firefighters well-being.

Petitioner Terry Cohen said, “These documents prove that the mayor’s accusations about us were unfounded. Our appeal had nothing to do with the old mall not having been torn down yet. More importantly, these documents underscore a serious lack of transparency with our city government and raise a host of important questions, such as whether or not fines were collected for all those violations.”

Kate Manizade, another petitioner, wondered, “Why did the city administration choose to wait so long to condemn the property and require demolition, as well as to withhold this information from the public? What other property is allowed to remain standing so long after so many violations and how many violations were there before it was condemned?”

A third petitioner, David Suiter, commented, “We need to get everything out on the table here. Our goal is to see something of real value built on this property, such as a true community, not just a dense development of structures. We need honesty and openness to move forward.”

The petitioners intend to discuss their research and recommendations for improvements to the old mall plan later this week. In an effort to move forward on the project, they submitted a proposal for discussion to the city Planning and Zoning department with copies to the city council.

Here's a TIP for you Mr. Greg Bassett, there wasn't a single representative from the Daily Times at either political event yesterday and people are in fact interested in who's showing up, what's new and who's on board. The Daily Times wasn't there because Barrie Tilghman doesn't want anyone to know Charles Jannace is on the ticket running for County Executive because she silently wants Ron Alessi to win.

It's only a mater of time before The Daily Times is a paper of the past but it becomes extremely evident when they start asking the people who are paying for the Paper to start feeding them the news. What a joke!

Salisbury Welcomes Gangs

If you've been anywhere near the Old Salisbury Mall lately this is what you get a taste of.

The Chief of Police certainly is not and obviously cannot handle the crime in the City of Salisbury.

It's time for some new leadership and face facts. How much longer do the residents near the Old Mall have to put up with this mess?

I know I'm sick and tired of taking pictures of it and it's spreading throughout the City like wildfire. I came to learn today that there is a group assigned to make sure that all graffiti is removed within a 24 hour period and the most obvious spot has been ignored for quite some time.

Oh well, it's your City Folks. Do something about it or enjoy the art work.

Let's Talk About Gangs & Crime In Wicomico County

Ladies & Gentlemen, not only is this graffiti Gang related, it's calling one Gang out for war. This is located on the bridge that crosses over the Wicomico River near the Ramada Inn on Rt. 13. How the Mayor and Public Works haven't been made aware of this is beyond me, (I'm confident they are 100% aware of it) but they chose NOT to clean it up and Chief Webster has no clue who to go after for such a crime.

While we're on the word crime, get this! According to the Maryland Uniform Crime Report recently published, 66% of all crimes in Worcester County closed with convictions.

ARE YOU READY?

In Wicomico County, they were only able to close 22% of all their arrests into convictions! Now what does that tell you about the Police Departments in Wicomico County? Don't even think of trying to pass the buck onto the States Attorney's Office because that's simply not the problem here. The problem here is very young and inexperienced Officers not doing their jobs properly and this is why there is a desperate need for a strong change in Wicomico County.

These are very serious numbers Folks and numbers that cannot be taken lightly. This tells me you can make a better living as a criminal in Wicomico County than an honest taxpaying Citizen! Get this, there's no taxes on stolen good too! The example is, come to Wicomico County and do your crime because there's a very strong chance you'll not get caught and or prosecuted!

James Gillespie Is One Interesting And Talented Man!

Did you know that James is one of those kids who could sit at a piano and start playing tunes without ever having lessons or ever reading music? James didn't start learning to read music until his Senior year of High School and was actually writing his own pieces of music that year.

Well, last night was a treat like none other. James took to the piano like it was an extension of his fingers. He played to a crowd for more than an hour in which we were spoiled rotten and thoroughly entertained. You didn't dare speak a word the whole time because we found ourselves so glued to his talent.

This guy is very special Folks! He is a devoted Christian who could serve the County for many years to come with some fantastic ideas. As a matter of fact, some of the ideas he's been suggesting are now being put into place by the current Clerk because James ideas are the right way of doing things and it's about time.

I have read how much people like the gentleman who's currently in this position but it's time to open your minds to progress. They have fallen way behind these past 18 years and James has the vision and willpower to make the right moves and make things more efficient. Please consider a vote for this young man and by all means please try to simply meet him one time. Once you do I can honestly tell you that you'll be sold on him from that moment forward.
