Half of Target’s workforce is composed of people of color
Target Corp. has set a goal to increase the number of Black workers across the company by 20% over the next three years.
The goal was set alongside the release of the company’s 2019 Workforce Diversity report, a breakdown of the racial and gender composition at the retailer. The report found that more than half of the company’s workforce is composed of people color, including 15% who are Black and 25% who are Latinx.
Meanwhile, the company’s leadership team is 8% each Black, Latinx and Asian, with the remainder white. And 15% of Target’s board is Black, 31% is Latinx and 54% is white.
“We know that having a diverse workforce and inclusive environment not only creates a stronger team, but also provides the perspectives we need to create the products, services, experiences and messages our guests expect,” said Melissa Kremer, Target’s TGT, -1.02% chief human resources officer, in a statement.

The only place where this diversity hiring, in leadership roles, works... is in the public sector. Companies become less successful when you hire on skin color or sexual orientation or gender... versus actual experience and qualifications. Public sector, doesn't matter, as everyone is at a lesser level anyway.

Isn't this blatant reverse racism. So a more qualified candidate will be passed over so they can hire more blacks. That's doubling down on affirmative action. But go ahead the next report will be target is filing for bankruptcy because of all the internal loss from stealing and helping a brotha or sista out with a little price fixing at the register.

So tired of this BS. Hire for what a person can do not because they are black and we gotta meet a quota. Hell if they are not smart enough or have sense enough to do a job don't hire them no matter what color their skin is.

That's the problem. If they did that no Black's would be hired. That's why the have affirmative action. Years ago I applied for several job's. Took a test and scored in the low 90's. Never got Hired. Why?? WRONG RACE. WRONG GENDER.

Such an insult to black workers. Target is pandering to stupid “enlightened” shoppers. If the company sincerely thought this was the right thing to do they would have done it without fanfare.
