Rep. Harris Issues Statement on Columbus Statue in Baltimore’s Little Italy

WASHINGTON, DC: Rep. Andy Harris, M.D. (MD-01) issued the following statement after rioters toppled the Christopher Columbus statue in Baltimore’s Little Italy on July 4th:

“The failure of Baltimore’s leadership on Saturday is just another clear example of the breakdown of law and order in our nation in recent weeks. I commend Governor Hogan’s stance on this incident which clearly crossed the line of peaceful protesting. Should Baltimore’s leadership have deemed they want to remove this statue, appropriate steps could be taken. Furthermore, should the leaders in Baltimore continue to stand idly by, I encourage Governor Hogan to quickly intervene and enforce law and order. ”

More dogwhistling from Harris. Baltimore isn't in his district. He needs to stay in his lane.

the DEMS, so called leadership, all across America is shameful and lacking...change must take place IF we are to heal and improve. DEMS are bad for this country as they have become Communists soft on crime, the rule of law and accountability.

3:43 - How could he condemn tearing a statue down before it happens?

@4:10 Since when was Communism soft on crime? USSR sent people to work camps for years over minor offenses. You're just assuming Communism is soft on crime because you were brought up to have a knee jerk hatred of it during the Cold War. You clearly have no idea what you're talking about.

Gee. What to do? What to do?? How many statues have been taken down?? He had no idea that the statue may or may not be a target. LMAO. You keep defending your dentist. He's a blowhard. How many more statues will be taken down so he can act like he never heard of such a thing. LMAO.

6:01 Not true. SOME criminals the communists were hard on-others not at all. Many were allowed to commit any crime without punishment. It's exactly what is going on here today. As a matter of fact the Russian "mafia" came about during communism and was allowed to operate freely with mostly no repercussion. My reaction isn't knee jerk. I have first hand experience and am extremely knowledgeable about the Soviet Union and communism. I am Russian and Ukrainian and spent quite a few summers in both countries during the 70's.
I remember the men in the afternoon would go to a spot in the woods where they had hidden a short wave and they would listen to Radio Free Europe and Liberty Radio And crime was bad. It just wasn't broadcast because they wanted everyone to think everything ideal under communism. We only knew of the murders, rapes, other violence because of word of mouth. Once I remember a plane crashed and not one word on the news. We only heard because of rescue workers told and word got around. They would have been the ones punished harshly if found out they told not the violent criminals. You can trust and believe it is exactly like what is going on here today. If someone would have vandalized a church back then there nothing would have happened to them. Talk about something the communists didn't want known and they would be punished.
