STAFFORD, Va. (FOX 5 DC) - Interest in homeschooling is on the rise as school districts nationwide and across the Washington, D.C. area roll out their reopening plans amid the coronavirus pandemic.
In fact, more and more families are opting to homeschool amid the uncertainty surrounding distance learning and in-school instruction.
Some families are even transforming their homes into classrooms.
FOX 5’s Tisha Lewis spoke with a mother in a Stafford neighborhood who did just that after being dissatisfied with the school district’s distance learning experience and apprehensive about her children returning to school.
Phyllis Israel is a mother of five — three are still at home and in school and come fall she plans to home school them all. The families’ former craft room will now be a classroom for her kindergartener and two older middle school students.

it will NEVER be allowed on a large scale. How can the DemonCraps indoctrinate the kids if they can't control their learning? If people start this, I am positive you will see states pass a rule, law-making near impossible to home school. They will want to keep homeschool to a minimum. Cant brainwash the kid if they are not in school.

Everyone needs to google "classical christian education". There is a whole movement of kids learning latin and ancient greek, reading the Great Books again, leaning about the best in Western Art and classical music. They learn to think and how to carefully construct logical arguments. The best part is that cannot be indoctrinated into SJW nonsense.
Baby Boomers and Gen Xers, if you have children or grandchildren, for God's sake, sacrifice some of your retirement if you can afford it to purchase some of this homeschooling material and give it to your sons and daughters who are considering homeschooling.
Now is the time for us to relearn and renew our Western Heritage unashamed and unbowed. Let the Marxists teach grievance and hatered. We will teach love and thinking, and WE WILL WIN!
A study done in Philadelphia has proven that 72% of teacher's send their own kids to private school. Now what does that tell you about any public school system??? It's all a SHAM. The public school system is nothing more than a government run taxpayers supported DAYCARE. Keep the thugs off the street for 8 hours a day so the parents can drink , drug, and have sex.
DO it, but cut the TAXES for schools! They won't need that amount of money anymore!
You act as though parents also can't brainwash their kids. I'm not saying the education system is perfect but I have heard some pretty crazy things over the years that kids were obviously getting from home. When Obama was first elected I heard one elementary age student say he was going to enslave white people for revenge. You tell me where a young child hears the word "enslave"? It wasn't on any of the spelling lists being sent home each week!
Even with homeschooling there has to be some regulations.
Also, you have parents complaining that if distance learning is put in place they can't go back to work. What do they think most homeschool options are nowadays! Most of it is available online! Same thing!
My child became interested in many of the classics because of the show Wishbone. He read the illustrated adapted versions as a child and the more formal translations as a teen and adult. You do not need to buy into a formal curriculum to encourage reading in the home. It starts with setting a good example by reading. It has been proven that parents who are avid readers raise children who are the same. There are multiple ways to encourage a love of learning for children and it starts with quality family time. If that sounds conservative of me then so be it.
Great idea with what they are learning close all schools and stop those tax assessments....kids can’t be any dumber than what you see walking in and out of stores everyday!! None learn English...Ebonics slang, None learn Math...can’t give you change at a drive-thru if automatic change drop is broken and don’t even try to get one to Read something to you!! Sad bunch that will someday be leaders....think about that.....better yet look at “Spartacus” Booker!!
